0:27
special guest today which we're going to
0:29

0:31
amazing story and she's also going to be
0:33
revealing that one thing that she's
0:36
bringing back onto her plate and I'm
0:37
just so intrigued by that I've been
0:39
waiting all day long to hear what that
0:41
is so we're gonna talk a little bit
0:43

0:46

1:15

1:20
I'm thrilled our special guest today is
1:23
Kim Cassell she is a creative director
1:25
and brand spokesperson she's a 40-plus
1:29
healthy lifestyle influencer and she's
1:31
she is the creator of The Life OK
1:34
let's start it again the life alysha's
1:37
lifestyle brand she's a former stand-up
1:40
commuting it sounds like I'm the
1:41
comedian today and has recently added a
1:43
new thing back on her professional plate
1:46
can't wait to hear what that's about I
1:47
met Kim over seven years ago and we just
1:51
clicked we just had that synergy we
1:53
became fast and furious friends and
1:55
colleagues we have worked together since
1:57
then and I'm delighted to bring her on
1:59
the show welcome to the show Kim Oh
2:02
Karin it is a absolute joy to be here
2:06
when you said fast and furious I had a
2:08
filmer and Louise kind of
2:11
like get in the car and go we met I
2:17
think at a David Fagan event yes and it
2:20
was right before the woman's conference
2:22
that I didn't even know about you were
2:24
there talking about it with Michelle
2:26
Patterson I believe and somehow we just
2:29
connected and I ended up going to the
2:30
conference we really connected then and
2:32
it's been it's been that way forever
2:35
I am so enthralled by the talent that
2:37
you have and how much talent that you
2:40
have which we're gonna get into it but
2:42
before we start let's talk about how you
2:45
would actually describe a super boomer
2:47
now I say a super boomer is not defined
2:49
by age they are defined by how they show
2:51
up in life so Kim Castle how would you
2:55
describe assume I would say it's similar
2:59
I don't even resonate with being a
3:02
boomer you know like even though it
3:04
clearly sometimes I'll just look on
3:06
Google what is a boomer again you know
3:08
just to kind of look in that age range
3:10
it go get oh my god that's funny
3:13
I know it's like oh yeah I don't
3:17
resonate with that label because I'm so
3:19
much more defined by what I do and what
3:23
I am in the world so I would agree with
3:26
you if I were from a from a macro level
3:28
look at what is a super Boomer I would
3:31
agree it's not somebody who defines
3:33
themselves by an age or even that label
3:37
it's more about how fully you know
3:40
you're expressing in your body and what
3:43
and how fully you're living so to me I
3:46
would agree it's it's how you're
3:49
expressing yourself in your body in your
3:52
life I so agree Joey says hi Kim Castle
3:55
she's in the audience right now you know
3:56
II I back hi back okay so let's just
4:00
jump in you know one of the things that
4:02
we women talk about but don't always do
4:05
and that's collaboration there there is
4:08
a story out there in the marketplace
4:10
that says women can't get along they
4:11
don't know how to collaborate they don't
4:13
know how to work together because
4:14
because because and I don't believe
4:16
that's true do you I actually think it
4:20
used to be I think there's this thing
4:24
social socialists not socialist social
4:27
lot sociologists or a second
4:30
yeah they would call it there was a
4:32
terminology called status and it's not
4:35
so much status in terms of your economic
4:38
level but there's this phenomenon called
4:41
status and Alison Armstrong of packs
4:45
programs she edges she talks the
4:48
difference between human spirit and
4:51
human animal and and she breaks us down
4:54
into cave woman and I think there was a
4:57
a partner brain way back when that
5:01
status meant like an another woman yeah
5:05
I know from the cave woman standpoint
5:07
you tried to had the best that person so
5:10
that you would stay warm at night or you
5:11
would be sad as a cave woman so I think
5:14
there was a partner brain as women that
5:18
made that competitive edge and I think
5:22
it was operating in our brain without us
5:24
even realizing it I feel like yeah
5:26
thanks very very interesting I think
5:29
there was a part of that going on where
5:33
women did I don't know when I was a
5:34
stand-up in sitting behind in the green
5:37
room at the Comedy Store and it was the
5:40
most aggressive environment I had ever
5:44
been in I'm like white bubbling myself
5:46
in the green and it doesn't have to be
5:50
that way I mean that's really it doesn't
5:52
have to be that way I work with Jon
5:54
community now right yeah
5:56
it's changed I think it's changed women
5:58
and ironing women inspiring women rise
6:01
together I mean I think truly they do so
6:04
you one of the things that you talk
6:06
about is your tagline is fuel for living
6:10
vibrantly what does that mean oh so much
6:13
well when you break down what is vibrant
6:15
mean vibrant is this energy that shows
6:20
that you're alive and that is resulting
6:22
and it's not necessarily you know the
6:26
the most energetic root you know in the
6:29
room there's this pulsing with a
6:31
liveness and so to me when you look at
6:36
each each word is so critical fuel what
6:40
is fuel fuel is what you eat right what
6:43
you think what you take in and as women
6:45
we take in our entire environment thanks
6:48
to estrogen so our environment is fuel
6:51
the people that we hang around is fuel
6:55
also I think how we express ourselves is
7:00
on fuel yet so to me and then living is
7:05
again how we're expressing this amazing
7:07
gift of my delicious let's talk about
7:10
life alysha's and how that was created
7:13
you know back in the day when we met you
7:15
were doing brand new you were you were
7:17
you and your husband Beto that two of
7:19
you brand new was the brand and and
7:22
continues to be in fact I was telling if
7:24
somebody stop me today and said oh my
7:26
god you have Kim Castle on your show
7:29
I've been following her for years and
7:31
her marketing message and when I told
7:32
you that you actually laugh because you
7:35
know that that was then and it you've
7:37
now moved forward you have life Alysha
7:40
switch you took all of that talent let's
7:42
talk a little bit about life alysha's
7:44
and then we're gonna move onto that
7:45
thing that you were putting back on your
7:47
pleasure yeah um I was having this sense
7:50
after doing brand new and becoming
7:53
utterly exhausted like literally adrenal
7:58
fatigue burnout to a point where we had
8:01
all this great success with brand new
8:03
and I kept wanting to put it in the car
8:06
drive it out in a country road and hope
8:08
somebody would take care of it late it
8:10
was I was so exhausted and I thought I
8:13
can't be the only dynamic powerful you
8:16
know intelligent woman experiencing this
8:19
level of burnout and exhaustion by the
8:22
very thing that they're doing right no I
8:24
wanted to create a community where where
8:29
we can go and fill up that we can go and
8:33
learn how to fuel our lives in a place
8:38
that we're never empty yeah I had been
8:41
running on empty for soap for decades
8:44
and didn't know it so life alysha's does
8:46
a community of resources where you can
8:49
pay attention to what you're thinking
8:51
support your environment literally
8:54
understand about sleep and all the
8:57
things what you're eating so I had a
9:00
couple of things that I'm going to be
9:01
introducing of an audio program called
9:04
how to love your life and have the
9:06
energy to enjoy it and that'll be a free
9:08
program coming up and I'm gonna relaunch
9:11
my self-centered program and I'm
9:13
probably going to do a pilot where I'm
9:15
going to let people in for free where
9:17
for 30 days I teach women how to not
9:22
make self centeredness a bad thing I
9:24
love that I love that you know and it's
9:26
you know for me it's also about because
9:30
it's the simple the simple life and the
9:32
simple living I put a book up here it's
9:34
one of my favorites I'll actually have
9:36
written read this book for 15 years
9:38
everything here I open it up and I go to
9:41
a section it covers all the things in a
9:44
woman's life in particular from from the
9:47
spiritual to the nutritional to the
9:49
exercise to the technology to financial
9:52
and it's a fascinating book it's in the
9:54
store the super uber lifestyle calm but
9:57
what I love about it is that it never
9:58
gets old and that some concepts just are
10:02
there for us and they're there for us
10:04
forever you've got an amazing youtube
10:07
channel which every time I think about
10:09
it you eat you don't do anything halfway
10:12
and I want people to go check out your
10:16
YouTube channel and Kim Cassell TV just
10:18
go and check it out because you've done
10:20
some hysterically funny videos as well
10:24
as some thought-provoking videos but all
10:27
around women and what women are thinking
10:31
and you are really funny and I think
10:34
that you pull on your stand-up comedian
10:36
right from that that part of you like
10:38
okay I can't I can't wait anymore I just
10:40
have to ask you what is this thing that
10:43
you are bringing back and putting on
10:45
your professional plate well it's
10:47
interesting because I haven't talked
10:48
about it I've kind of have been a little
10:51
precious with it um in February
10:55
I host an Oscar party we do this big
10:58
to-do big big to-do forty fifty people
11:03
Oscar and I'm hosting this Oscar party
11:05
and I'm like secretly depressed I'm
11:10
watching this Oscar party I had watched
11:14
Bohemian Rhapsody the movie and like ten
11:17
times and each time I get more and more
11:20
depressed and go now what in the world
11:22
is wrong with me and I literally after
11:25
the Oscar party went into like a five
11:27
day depression like I couldn't work I
11:29
couldn't do anything I'm going what I
11:31
have so many amazing things going on in
11:33
my life I'm going to Pilates every day I
11:37
bought this beautiful how like what
11:40
where did this come from and I found
11:45
that there was a piece of me a huge part
11:49
of me that I thought I put in her box
11:52
and gave to the Salvation Army like take
11:55
it away that's not me anymore and
12:00
realized it was a huge part of me and I
12:04
when I acknowledged it all of a sudden
12:07
like my light came back and I'm an actor
12:13
I'm a performer I'm an actor I'm a
12:15
creator I've written dozens of TV shows
12:18
and I literally thought I'd put that all
12:23
in a box and sent it away when I became
12:25
a business speaker when I started to
12:28
talk about brand new and I remember at
12:32
the end of when I stepped away from
12:34
brandy I realized that I had taken 10%
12:39
of me as the creative director and the
12:41
you know brand strategist and made it a
12:45
hundred percent of me and cut away
12:48
pieces of light here and all these gifts
12:52
that God had given me so I started
12:54
acting again and when I stepped back
12:58
into it I made a decision I said I don't
13:01
I'm not gonna care about how I'm just
13:06
gonna say yes and all of a sudden God
13:09
just started putting all of these like
13:11
opportunities I had a commercial
13:13
audition I had a callback I mean it was
13:17
all of that are behind but that's the
13:19
thing I think that sometimes we get
13:21
caught up in trying to figure out the
13:23
minutiae of it all before will actually
13:25
take action right now and so I think
13:27
that it will I know about that about you
13:29
and I know it's same thing about me I do
13:31
it and figure it out later right I take
13:33
if it hurts my stomach it's something I
13:36
have to do if it's making me nauseous or
13:39
it's making me nervous and and truly
13:41
because I feel it in my body that's just
13:43
how I you know take it but I know it's
13:46
something I have to do and we figure it
13:47
out I don't I don't say uh I can't do
13:50
this and I know you're not like that
13:52
you did a Star Trek convention let's
13:53
talk a little bit about that I mean when
13:56
I said earlier you've done everything
13:58
you've done a Star Trek convention which
14:00
had never been done it was social media
14:04
it literally was social media before
14:07
social media I was the host and I would
14:12
I was like Julie McCoy you know full in
14:16
a virtual hotel floating in in paradise
14:20
and we would attend with an avatar and
14:23
it was a three-day live event we had 1.4
14:28
million people come to the website in 30
14:31
days with no marketing budget and people
14:34
stayed we were it was such an experience
14:37
people stayed online four and a half
14:39
hours dial-up so guys are you hearing
14:43
what she's saying it was a virtual event
14:45
they got on their computers and they
14:49
attended this first-of-its-kind virtual
14:51
event and stayed there I mean that's
14:53
unheard of Kim you know that's unheard
14:55
of most people we have the attention
14:57
span of a flea right now so we know that
15:00
video works a little bit more they might
15:02
say and watches for two minutes but but
15:04
you did something that is so totally
15:08
groundbreaking still round no to this
15:10
day what we and I do credit my partner
15:14
with as the brainchild
15:16
I certainly brought the glue the
15:19
humanity the the humor the heart um and
15:24
a lot of the experiential stuff it's
15:27
what I do as a as a performer it's what
15:31
that's what I do as a creator but it was
15:33
certainly his vision you know he stepped
15:36
away from paramount to create this you
15:39
were that you are the talent allow
15:41
someone else and I I you know I I had
15:44
fought that for years to say I'm the
15:47
talent so when we talk about being on a
15:49
show like this as you know I'm told
15:52
you're the talent Karen you just go on
15:54
and you do your thing you stay in your
15:55
lane and you're the talent the fact that
15:57
I can do other stuff is just a
16:00
coincidence you were the talent in this
16:02
tart you did the other stuff but it was
16:04
your face that was in the foreground
16:05
right yeah you know it's interesting as
16:07
I step back into the world of being
16:10
talent mm-hmm I think you know it's
16:14
funny all of these things that are
16:16
coming back like doing a commercial and
16:18
not you know finding out like did I get
16:20
it didn't I get it there's a difference
16:23
between being a talent and being a
16:26
creator and I think they go hand in hand
16:29
you don't I think you give up too much
16:32
just being talent for me personally
16:35
because I bring so many aspects greater
16:39
magazines and I just as like you as the
16:41
producer of this show there's a part of
16:44
you that shows up and your talent but
16:47
there's also other elements and batons
16:49
oh right what are you really trying to
16:53
bring the right people's lives where are
16:54
you taking what all these other aspects
16:57
so all of that all of me is coming to
17:00
play now I I love that I mean another
17:02
thing that sheep that you are involved
17:04
in as well as the essential oils you
17:06
introduced me to them and you know you
17:07
gifted me some amazing oils for
17:10
different things from the stress and no
17:12
I don't have stress I do have stress and
17:14
it was amazing and we have this this
17:16
great essential oil diffuser I know that
17:18
also you carry them as well as part of
17:21
the light of essential oil so guys you
17:23
know as you're getting to know Kim and
17:24
we're going to give you all of her
17:25
information please ask her about that as
17:27
well because it is there I think the
17:30
message here is is that we can have
17:32
streams of activity that we are involved
17:35
in it doesn't have to say income but
17:38
it's not always just about the income we
17:39
can have streams of things that we are
17:43
our essence of what we're good at and we
17:46
talked before the show comes out because
17:49
it's funny there was this big book that
17:51
was going around that said do the one
17:53
thing the one thing and I'm reading this
17:56
book and there's a voice inside of me
18:00
going I wish there was but that's not me
18:04
and I think so many especially women
18:07
because we have so many parts of us and
18:09
I think I think in the past we we had so
18:14
many different parts of us as labels or
18:17
roles that we played and I think that
18:20
exhausts us when we're playing all these
18:22
different roles but if we switch it
18:24
around to realize there's their creative
18:27
aspects of us and if you allow all of
18:32
these different aspects for example I if
18:34
you remember back when you were in
18:36
elementary school or high school and
18:39
you'd like to painting or you like
18:40
singing or there's these different
18:42
pieces of us that we felt like at some
18:45
point we had to put a box and give it to
18:49
Salvation Army at Hill or dim or
18:52
something in order to survive or to
18:55
thrive in some place and I think we have
18:58
done ourselves it was a good choice back
19:00
then but I think I think God put these
19:05
different components in our life to
19:07
express and I think that when you allow
19:10
that light back out of you it's gonna
19:14
fuel the other aspects of you I think
19:18
and we also integrate all of these
19:20
things into who who we are
19:22
so the entirety of Kim Castle is not
19:25
just that you're an actress or that you
19:27
are an amazing marketer with brand you
19:30
or that you did a Star Trek virtual
19:32
event or that you do essential oil or
19:35
that you you know your your YouTube
19:37
channel you are made up of so many
19:39
different things but if you were to go
19:41
to the core of this your course still
19:42
comes through this I'm saying and I
19:44
think that that is that is the message
19:47
and we've got Susan Jacobs on she says
19:49
hello we got Brandi Salazar on they just
19:51
wrote the miracle morning for couples
19:53
with Hal Elrod amazing book says
19:56
Jacobs is an amazing stylist she's in
19:58
Canada oh my gosh she's awesome thank
20:00
you for being on the show guys I really
20:02
do appreciate you coming on the show you
20:04
have a tip that you want to share and
20:06
I'm gonna let you just go ahead and do
20:09
and I'm gonna put you on solo so you can
20:11
talk yeah well it's it's going back to
20:13
what I was just talking about is to take
20:17
a moment in unearth that piece of you
20:23
that you had to put aside or for some
20:26
reason you thought you needed to put
20:29
aside so that the market knew you like I
20:32
did in brand you I thought okay no I'm
20:34
not an actor I'm a platform speaker and
20:37
brand strategists and all you know all
20:41
it's time to bring those pieces out back
20:44
out and not not eat yourself up that you
20:47
put in a dough that you gave it a
20:49
Salvation Army but to bring it back out
20:52
because I believe it is fuel it is a
20:56
fuel for you who keep I know that I had
20:59
deep adrenal fatigue and the thyroid
21:02
issues and all those things that I wore
21:04
myself into the ground running on empty
21:06
area I remember because I didn't let
21:11
this piece of me out hmm
21:13
and don't put a demand on okay I'm gonna
21:17
start painting again and sell it you
21:20
know don't let that evolve like I don't
21:23
know exactly how the acting piece is
21:27
gonna show up I do know that I'm writing
21:29
TV and bringing all those pieces back
21:31
but I'm bringing it back because it is
21:35
fuel going back to fuel for it's it's a
21:38
part of me it provides me energy
21:41
and and vivaciousness and so I invite
21:45
you as my tip to kind of look maybe you
21:48
love cooking maybe you love gardening
21:50
maybe and not put the emphasis on how
21:54
I'm gonna make money from it but to know
21:56
that the doing of it is the fuel for
22:00
your life ah I totally love that give a
22:03
quote yes I have a quote I'm gonna read
22:05
it so that I give it the do yes
22:09
I know that in different areas different
22:12
times in my life there are different
22:13
quotes that resonated with me because it
22:17
was part of my development it was
22:19
exactly where I was at as a as a human
22:24
being in development and this is the
22:27
quote that that is fueling me and I want
22:29
to give it to you it's by Emma Baum back
22:32
now she was a big human returning that
22:35
70s I believe she was or the 80 70s and
22:37
80s and it says when I stand before God
22:42
at the end of my life I would hope that
22:44
I would not have a single bit of talent
22:47
left and I could say I used everything
22:52
you gave me I love that quote use
22:56
everything all of our viewers whether
22:59
you're live or replayed that that quote
23:01
just you know what I'm going to ask you
23:02
to send me that quote so we can put it
23:04
in the blog after the show because that
23:06
is a great quote and I want to be able
23:08
to use it you know we've got Joey saying
23:11
passion brings us energy yes and Susan
23:16
said don't tuck it away don't dimmer
23:20
like today we need to honor all of our
23:22
gifts these are great comments everyone
23:24
this is what it's this is what it's all
23:26

23:33

25:02

25:04
lifecycle issues dump me it's so
25:06
self-centered with me yes so yeah it's
25:08
Oaks Eddard gets upset any less comments
25:11
that you'd like to add before let me say
25:13
goodbye um I guess it comes
25:17
I guess what's hitting me is you know as
25:21
we get older we tend there I think we go
25:25
through a period in our 40s maybe even
25:28
30s I think it's happening younger we're
25:31
people women especially are getting
25:32
becoming exhausted and we start to our
25:37
life our vitality our view of the world
25:41
starts to dim and we don't realize you
25:45
know like oh we're staying up too late
25:47
or it's the food or that it's how we're
25:49
sleeping and I really truly believe it's
25:52
all of that but that when you are truly
25:58
expressing and I never realized it when
26:01
I was going through my health challenges
26:02
and I was like looking at the food and
26:04
looking at my thoughts and looking at my
26:07
environment I didn't realize that an in
26:11
vital component of having energy and
26:16
enjoying our life is our expression yeah
26:22
expression and I remember back what was
26:27
oh yes the artists the artists way yes
26:31
remember I'm like that all of those
26:33
tools but just to it
26:35
knowledge our expression yes yes it's
26:39
one of the ingredients to a vibrant life
26:43
well I love that I love you I appreciate
26:47
you coming on today i I know that we we
26:50
continue to work together and I just
26:52
want to thank you for taking your time
26:53
to be with us today and share some of
26:55
the things that are happening in your
26:56
life as your star is reborn and I'm just
27:00
so excited to see what happens it can I
27:03
know it's gonna be great I know it's
27:04
gonna be great and you'll come back and
27:06
visit us and share how this journey has
27:09
happened so thank you thank you thank
27:11
you I'm going to drop you down into the
27:13
green room as I get ready for my super
27:15
boomer moment so guys this is the time
27:18
that I like to talk about something that
27:22
struck a chord with me and so it's a
27:26
super boomer moment and actually it was
27:28
that quote the Kim said at the very end
27:30
from our Mabon Beck and I love that that
27:32
you come to the end of your life and
27:34
you've used all your talent up because
27:38
if you don't express and what a waste if
27:40
you don't go out there and actually show
27:43
the world who you are show yourself who
27:45
you are it's not just the world which is
27:47
huge but you want to show yourself that
27:49
you can do it and that you have the
27:52
ability no matter what you decide to do
27:54
no matter what you decide to step into
27:56
so I love the idea of what Kim shared
27:59
from Armagh Bombeck that you just wanted
28:01
when you get to the end of your life you
28:02
want to make sure that you have no
28:04
talent left that you are just sucked dry
28:07
that's not a very good image right now
28:10
maybe we shouldn't use that sucked dry
28:11
but that being said great great great
28:15
guest I love Kim I'm so happy that she
28:17
was able to join us and we're happy that
28:18
you were able to join us as well because
28:20
we know that you have a choice as to how
28:22

28:24
spend it with us and I am eternally
28:26
grateful I hope that you will join us in
28:28
two weeks we will not be on next week
28:30

28:32

28:35

28:37

28:38
another great guest so go out and give
28:41
somebody an awesome day and we'll see
28:43
you next time on the next episode of the
28:45
super boomer lifestyle show goodbye
