hello everyone Karen glass are here and
0:01
welcome to the little white lie movement
0:04
this is the movement where we're
0:06
following all people around the world
0:08
who actually have a story to tell about
0:11
how to show up in the skin that you're
0:13
in no matter what age you are and today
0:15
we're asking the question am I too old
0:18
to learn technology now I love that
0:21
question obviously because you know i'm
0:23
a geek but i love that question we're
0:25
going to be talking about it with one of
0:26
my favorite people in the whole world
0:28
and i'm going to introduce her in one
0:30
moment but i want to remind you if
0:32
you're here on replay we love you we're
0:35
so glad you're here make sure you
0:36
comment down below tell us what you
0:39
think about the question of the week and
0:41
don't forget to use the hashtag i'm
0:43
going to put it up here little white lie
0:46
so whenever you put a comment make
0:48
little white lie and you're here live we
0:50
love that you're here we've got lots of
0:51
people on already I can see that you're
0:53
here Nancy I can see that you're here
0:54
and Corinne der I can see that you're
0:56
here thank you for joining us and now I
0:59
get to introduce my very special gift
1:01
her name is Kathy Stover she's known as
1:05
a social media strategist she's a
1:06
business visionary an affiliate marketer
1:09
a product creator I'm exhausted just
1:12
saying all those things because she
1:13
really does it all and her client list
1:16
includes business entrepreneurs
1:18
celebrities transformational leaders and
1:20
small businesses who are committed to
1:22
creating a big online presence and
1:25
results through their social media let's
1:28
say Facebook Pinterest Instagram Twitter
1:31
we'll talk about Twitter in a second
1:32
this woman has more Twitter accounts and
1:34
we have family members truly she's
1:36
unbelievable and truly she just said
1:39
she's the woman that I go to when I have
1:42
questions of what I'm supposed to be
1:44
doing their online so without further
1:45
ado I'm going to bring in Kathy Stover
1:48
how are you today Cathy hey Sharon I
1:51
feel awful but I'm so excited to be here
1:53
with you and with your audience you've
1:55
been well some fantastic sams lenders
1:57
loaded and it was really really fun and
2:00
this is the time that I at the time of
2:01
my shows that I go okay time to do the
2:04
reveal so it's time to do the reveal
2:06
Here I am this is my little white lie
2:09
this is like
2:11
that awesome it's growing out it's
2:13
unbelievable in fact I think I'm going
2:15
to get my hair cut so it's going to cut
2:17
off some of the dark to reach the white
2:19
and who knows what it's going to look
2:21
like so today the topic that we're
2:23
talking about is am I you too old to
2:26
learn new technology very specifically
2:27
it was so much stuff out there right
2:30
Kathy there's so much stuff so much
2:32
technology out there what would you say
2:35
to our audience are we ever going to be
2:37
too old to learn technology you know
2:39
like the new asset because my mom
2:42
happens to be 85 she's going to be 86 in
2:45
June and she is all over the internet
2:49
now I've got to go over and fix her
2:51
computer when she hits the wrong buttons
2:53
but that being said you're never too old
2:56
she doesn't just check email she surfs
2:59
the internet she does shopping she
3:02
communicates with friends through skype
3:03
so no we're never too old i agree i mean
3:07
i have a bomb the same way to this day
3:09
she insists that she's not on facebook
3:11
however she sends me messages in
3:13
facebook oh there's that whole challenge
3:16
of you know i think we're being told
3:18
that we need to be we need to be in
3:20
technology and even if you don't have a
3:22
business we're keeping up with our
3:23
family with our friends if we go on
3:25
social media right but when I think that
3:27
is there are a lot of people in the
3:28
older generation that no they're doing
3:30
it but they're not sure exactly what
3:32
they're doing my mom now communicate
3:34
through text I don't know about your mom
3:36
to your mom text you all the times I
3:38
don't you doin PAC don't know a whole
3:41
nother animal I don't know I get numbers
3:45
enough so we have lend me Ross who just
3:48
said you know this is a wonderfully
3:50
important topic you know so when I asked
3:52
you the question why why is technology
3:55
so important how are you using
3:57
technology in your world and as you're
3:59
typing that answer I'm going to go back
4:01
to Kathy and what do you tell your
4:03
clients Kathy I mean they come to you
4:05
and you you do everything and anything
4:06
for them in terms of making sure they
4:08
have that presence but how how do you
4:11
how do you get them to go across that
4:13
bed line of not being afraid of it
4:15
anymore well you know what I think that
4:17
you just said it afraid and they're
4:18
there is a fear connected with it
4:21
because there
4:22
they're going to hit the wrong button or
4:23
stay too long single end up in the wrong
4:26
space and the thing about it is to mean
4:28
nothing nothing is wrong there's no
4:31
wrong thing you know obviously we don't
4:33
want to put too many personal things
4:35
because 30 is our digital footprint for
4:38
Everest so it's real important that we
4:41
think about what we're putting but
4:43
that's how we're going to community
4:45
continue to communicate that's how we
4:47
communicate right now so I think getting
4:50
past that fear is an important thing so
4:53
you mentioned something you said a
4:55
digital footprint what does that mean
4:57
what's a digital footprint so a digital
4:59
footprint is actually what it says it's
5:02
almost like text taking a step in the
5:04
sand and seeing your foot there when the
5:07
water washes over from the ocean is gone
5:09
when you do that when you're on the
5:10
internet it's there forever it's almost
5:12
like you're some print you know if you
5:15
need to each one of us so whatever it is
5:17
that we share when we put out there it's
5:19
out there and it doesn't go away right
5:22
and it's any age so when we're
5:24
addressing this this is such an
5:25
important topic because it doesn't
5:28
matter what age you are young and old
5:29
whatever you put out there it's out
5:31
there it's like a the old there's a
5:33
biblical story with a pillow and they
5:35
open up the pillow and the feathers go
5:37
flying all over the place and you just
5:39
try to collect all those feathers well
5:41
it's the same kind of thing when you're
5:42
putting out your digital content it's
5:44
out there somebody can copy it somebody
5:46
can save it and whether you pull it down
5:48
or not right Kathy it's out there that's
5:50
right when you're the sighted it's not
5:52
to be in fear of that or afraid of that
5:54
I think it's important and I see it in
5:58
people in their 40 50 60 s and up that
6:01
do not have the technological background
6:04
or the confidence level to put
6:06
themselves out there but it's okay and
6:08
it's kind of freeing and exciting when
6:11
you put yourself out there in a way that
6:13
you can share even if you take small
6:15
steps to do that it is just your family
6:18
members or a really good friend both
6:21
before you even start a business it's a
6:25
good thing to get yourself out there and
6:26
share a little bit so why don't you tell
6:29
our audience how you got into all of
6:31
this you didn't just you get you have
6:32
been doing this all your life you come
6:34
from a core
6:34
background how did you get into this and
6:37
I did tease everyone by saying you have
6:39
more Twitter accounts than anybody I've
6:40
ever met you want to share first of all
6:42
how did you get into this and then just
6:44
tell us how many Twitter account you
6:46
have one well I actually get started
6:49
with affiliate marketing and I still do
6:51
that today I love that very very much
6:54
anything that has to do with selling
6:56
even if it's five bucks on ebay at
6:59
tripped my trigger I just get really
7:00
excited to somebody buy something but I
7:02
started out with affiliate marketing and
7:04
actually was using myspace way before
7:08
Facebook and Twitter ever came out and I
7:10
found a way to market affiliate products
7:13
through myspace it wasn't just teenagers
7:15
you know my name was a very much that
7:21
was just for teenagers but i found i
7:23
just gotta be there and then with
7:26
Facebook and Twitter came around I was
7:28
like oh my gosh this is another way
7:30
great way to market products so as of
7:34
today I actually have a little bit less
7:36
because I've created a twitter account
7:38
around specific niche product so when i
7:42
bring in new clients often times i will
7:44
have a twitter account built up and it
7:47
fit with you know the program on what
7:49
they're doing so right now i have 92
7:51
twitter accounts and many of them are
7:53
attached to specific niche product or
7:58
you know complete genres of a product
8:01
you heard it here first she has 92 and
8:04
that's cutting back from what she used
8:06
to have so you know you know Kathy what
8:09
do you like about Twitter because I you
8:11
know there's so many different social
8:12
media platforms and you obviously like
8:14
Twitter you have a lot of what is it
8:15
about Twitter that you like so much I
8:18
well what I want to go at most I think
8:20
is that you can get to the point and
8:22
talk about whatever it is you're putting
8:24
out there quickly 140 characters or less
8:26
typically it's less if you're putting in
8:28
a link but you can connect with hashtag
8:30
so it can be very specific you can look
8:33
things up very quickly because specific
8:36
hashtag miss your fast I like how it
8:39
loose I like that the reach is great and
8:43
it's just it's just a different way of
8:45
communicating and doing it quickly I
8:47
yes I i agree i mean it and it's not for
8:49
every business and i'm going to ask you
8:52
a question a lot of a lot of my clients
8:54
come to me and they say somebody told me
8:56
I have to be on every single social
8:58
media platform every single one what do
9:00
you say to that well for the typical
9:03
individual i would say you do not have
9:05
to be on every single one for sure but
9:07
on the other hand and he puts on the
9:09
kind of business that you're in as well
9:11
and with that being said I think that
9:13
it's good to be in several do you have
9:16
to be on snapchat Instagram YouTube
9:20
Google+ Facebook Twitter Pinterest all
9:23
of these things ah yeah even saying and
9:26
it almost makes me go crazy but but it
9:29
is important based on whatever it is
9:31
that you do to be in specific platform
9:34
but not necessarily i love that linkedin
9:37
oh my gosh that's all imperio yes you
9:39
know so let's take the one that fits for
9:41
the one that fit what industry what
9:44
business that you're in somebody made a
9:47
comment Amy commented I hate when I
9:49
learned something so well and then the
9:51
next day it changes I know I think that
9:54
you are they said to so Amy you're not
9:57
alone but you know if thats that is one
10:00
of the things that I think becomes a
10:01
sticking point for a lot of people and a
10:03
lot of people of a certain age I mean
10:05
you and I of that certain age but it's
10:08
but we've been doing this for a long
10:09
time so it's not a matter that we're
10:11
either too young or too old so what how
10:12
do we help people that us included that
10:15
we we learn something new and the next
10:17
day it changes YouTube is a perfect
10:19
example I remember when Google Hangouts
10:21
came out right and you could do a google
10:23
hangout and you could launch him from
10:25
the google plus page and then all of a
10:26
sudden it was no longer on the Google+
10:28
page it was only on the YouTube page and
10:29
people literally tearing their hair up
10:31
some people actually thought it was gone
10:34
completely but it wasn't but then it's
10:35
not a good communication I think
10:37
probably on Google part but we're Tech's
10:39
what what is the is there a best
10:42
practice for keeping on top of this
10:44
stuff you know I wish there was you can
10:48
go in and get google alerts in that
10:49
helpful if you key it down to specific
10:52
words that are going to connect whatever
10:54
platform it is that you're interested in
10:56
and you're looking for current
10:57
information um typically connect
11:00
in the group here a perfect example
11:02
you've got a lot of amazing groups where
11:05
people can go in and find that kind of
11:07
information so i think it's keying into
11:10
specific individuals that you know are
11:12
connected to social media so that you
11:15
can find out current information um and
11:20
that's something that you have and I i
11:22
know that just I'm in several different
11:24
like arenas to where I get the
11:27
information that I need and like you
11:29
said it changes all the time so the
11:31
heart of being and doing what I do and
11:33
you as well is I'm staying on top of
11:36
that so that we can service our clients
11:38
appropriately sometimes my head hurts
11:41
sometimes my head hurts I woke up in the
11:43
morning and as just like you you know
11:46
our clients count on us to keep on top
11:48
of stuff like this and my head hurts I
11:50
sometimes will say oh my gosh I cannot
11:52
believe something I taught yesterday is
11:54
no longer it black when blab came out
11:57
and then lab one away I distinctly
12:00
remember texting you and saying have you
12:02
heard anything about what I'm going away
12:04
because it it's it went away Nancy
12:07
Ferrari says change is constant keeping
12:11
up with it is a strain at times no
12:13
hitting no titties and here's the thing
12:17
you need Kathy Stover in your pocket you
12:20
need somebody like a feast over or maybe
12:23
specifically cap oh I keep doing that
12:25
Kathy Stover I have my room here Dorian
12:29
oh we're somewhere I'm not sure so for
12:34
those of you who are wondering how to
12:35
get in touch with Kathy you can go to
12:37
her website and you can go to see Kathy
12:40
silver calm you can go and check her out
12:43
on well she's got a gazillion Twitter's
12:46

12:48

12:51
you to go check out and go follow her at
12:53
Kathy Stover that's that little devil ab
12:56
sign make sure you do that and whenever
12:59

13:00
are your thoughts about this are you you
13:02
feel like you're too old to do this do
13:04
you feel when you're too old to do this
13:06
answer the question the conversation is
13:08
going to continue if you're here on
13:09

13:12
Kathy and I will both go in there we'll
13:13
answer
13:14

13:16
direction some guidelines we are so
13:19
happy that you joined us today Cathy any
13:21

thoughts that you'd like to share with
13:25
our audience about technology and age
13:27

13:30
everybody out there don't be afraid put
13:33
yourself out there share you may not
13:35
have an online business at the moment
13:37
you might be retired you might be
13:40
working for somebody else moving into
13:42

13:44

13:45

13:47
time that the creativity of you comes
13:50
