1:39
age get in the way of making your dreams
1:42
great question and who better to ask
1:45
answer this question is our special
1:47
guest today her name is Veronica crystal
1:49
young she is a reinvention powered
1:51
leadership coach and a member of this
1:54
prestigious international coach
1:56
she is also a professional actor how
1:59
cool is that she's a member of sag and
2:00
AFTRA and a professional singer which is
2:04
really connected because I sing as well
2:05
with the country music duo Christo
2:08
whisky how cool is that performing in
2:10
the Southern California area and I know
2:12
that she has a special gift for all of
2:13
us today that's along those lines
2:16
Veronica specials specializes in
2:18
teaching successful professional women
2:20
to gain clarity on their life path and
2:22
in fact her motto is don't let age or
2:25
past trauma abuse or define you and so
2:30
without further ado let's go ahead and
2:33
bring Veronica in hello Veronica how are
2:36
you today hi how are you Karen I am
2:40
doing so awesome it ought to be a sin
2:43
hi I'm not a habit I'm really excited
2:45
that you're here because we really
2:46
relate on so many different levels but
2:48
Before we jump into the question I have
2:50
a question for you Oh Veronica what is
2:53
your little white lie oh gosh I have so
2:57
many but as it relates to this show and
3:04
singing I would say that I I did not I
3:07
did not feel I was good enough and I
3:11
thought I was too old to start singing
3:13
again because I last time I had sung was
3:16
ten years ago in a musical I did a lot
3:20
of musicals growing up and I was hidden
3:22
in several big bands and I stopped it
3:26
like ten years ago and I thought oh my
3:29
I'm I'm too old and I'm like where did
3:33
I think it's it's all these shows like
3:35
The Voice and you know an American Idol
3:38
and they're all so young and and I I
3:41
bought into that whole stigma of you
3:46
know well you're too old you you you
3:48
who's gonna want to see you who's gonna
3:51
want to see you perform so I was like oh
3:56
my god so actually I just I just bit the
4:00
bullet and I met a wonderful man five
4:03
years ago and we had something in common
4:04
- that that commonality of loving music
4:07
and singing he plays guitar and after a
4:10
year of going to open mikes we started
4:13
our band and we've been singing ever
4:16
sense and it's incredibly fun I think
4:19
that is awesome I think that is awesome
4:23
so okay so we're going to be talking
4:24
about not a living age get in the way of
4:27
making our dreams come true so I have a
4:28
question for you let's talk about agent
4:31
and dreams what do you believe I mean
4:33
what do you believe about how they
4:34
connect agent dreams you know I I
4:38
personally feel my dreams are there
4:43
they're the same but a little different
4:45
than they were twenty thirty years ago
4:47
obviously we all evolve we all have
4:50
dreams when we graduate from high school
4:52
when we graduate from college when we
4:54
dread when we after a divorce or you
4:56
know crying each age we want to read we
4:59
want to reinvent ourselves we want to we
5:01
want to try something new I've always
5:03
loved being a singer it always was a
5:06
connector for me I loved the fact that I
5:10
could influence feelings and other
5:14
people by singing it get brought up
5:15
emotions and I love that um I think that
5:18
is so powerful and and to be able to
5:21
share my feelings with them so that part
5:24
of my dream hasn't changed but my dream
5:29
of being a superstar I get that and I
5:36
don't know it's a matter of being
5:38
realistic or is it a matter of just our
5:40
dreams change or we want different
5:42
things what do you think tuppenny I
5:44
think it's it's a it's a combination of
5:47
both I think I know for me when I was
5:49
growing up mom I god I want to be the
5:51
next you know you know a huge superstar
5:55
you know Christina Aguilera or whatever
5:57
and and right now I don't have that
6:00
passion my passion right now is
6:02
different it's coaching it's it's
6:04
performing it's performing to smaller
6:06
crowds and and you know success is
6:09
really a frame of mind and it's it's
6:12
what successful for you I mean there are
6:14
some bands and some people that sing
6:16
that singing every every weekend in a
6:19
coffeehouse fills their soul I
6:21
understand I know and who's to say that
6:24
that is not so wonderful for them that's
6:27
not a failure to me that
6:29
success because it's a success for them
6:31
so I think that's when it comes to our
6:33
dreams we always define what our dreams
6:36
are and if you want to go big go big and
6:39
if you don't want to go big
6:41
don't go big right the choice is up to
6:44
us quite frankly so any tips on how do
6:47
we go about that how do we dream then
6:49
how do we dream small how do we dream
6:51
big I think it's it's you set your goal
6:54
and then you figure out the steps to
6:57
that goal that's that simple and you
6:59
know what the biggest thing is decide
7:04
decide you know what so as we're talking
7:07
about just the side the right side
7:10
because the reality is you can say oh I
7:13
want to do this I want to do that I want
7:16
to be oh I want to you know what just
7:18
decide to take the steps to do it and
7:21
then and that's that's you hear a lot of
7:23
people where all I want to do this and I
7:25
want to do that well what are you doing
7:26
about it right I have a question how do
7:32
we get past those societal influences on
7:35
age so okay let's just say now we've
7:37
decided right and we're going to do it
7:39
now what do we do because there's a lot
7:42
of societal you know things going on out
7:44
there what do we do about that you know
7:46
I think it's a matter of knowing who we
7:49
are and being comfortable in our skin
7:51
and knowing that we're fabulous we are
8:00
you have to have the confidence in
8:03
yourself you have to have going forward
8:05
it's like I I can do this and doing the
8:09
little steps to do that and move forward
8:12
and move out of that uncertainty just go
8:16
and you know what I know everybody knows
8:18
this you you the more you do it and the
8:21
more you fail the closer you are to the
8:23
totem you are through your goals you
8:26
know what I love that and there's a
8:27
quote that I that I use all the time and
8:30
it comes from a friend of mine Andrea
8:32
wall she wrote a book called gopher no
8:34
and she talks about failing your way to
8:36
success yes you know and I always think
8:40
about that because look
8:42
failures we've all had failures and if
8:44
we can look at it as a way to fail our
8:47
way to success so listen I have a
8:49
question so how do we make conscious
8:52
choices today for who we want to be now
8:58
conscious choices yeah that is my thing
9:03
what a surprise I don't know hello under
9:08
what conscious choices means you have
9:11
you have gone in into yours into your
9:15
soul you searched your soul about what
9:19
is the reality for you what is important
9:22
to you what is going to be important to
9:27
you and why a lot of times when we
9:31
figure out what's important to us and we
9:34
go you ever heard of the seven wise oh
9:38
no I thought 7-eleven wives no no no no
9:44
that's a totally differently different
9:47
thing okay but but the seven wise are
9:50
about every time you have a choice about
9:53
something and how you feel about
9:55
something ask yourself why and then ask
9:58
yourself why again and then ask yourself
10:01
why again and why again and you get down
10:04
to the core of what your what your
10:06
choice is all about and it usually it
10:10
usually shows you why you're doing
10:14
something and you can really really make
10:16
a conscious choice yes that's really
10:19
what I believe that's really what I feel
10:21
that's really what I believe and I'm
10:23
going for it oh my gosh I love it so
10:25
Christine just wrote does anyone feel
10:27
that conscious choices get a little more
10:30
difficult as we age great question what
10:34
do you guys think down there and then
10:36
post your comments whether you're here
10:38
live or on replay what do you think as
10:40
we get older it gets harder you know I
10:44
think I can answer that at least for me
10:47
as I got older my conscious choices
10:50
became easier because I realized that my
10:56
define who I am and if I really know who
10:59
I am I can make those conscious choices
11:02
and move into that direction I
11:05
yeah I you know what I think I'm just
11:07
like you that way you know I'm sixty and
11:10
as I've gotten older the the decisions
11:13
are actually easier because because I
11:16
think I have shed all that past up above
11:20
the shoulda woulda couldas is supposed
11:22
to sand too you know the why did why
11:25
didn't you and I've said that and I
11:28
think that maybe it is age and what
11:30
you're saying obviously is very true
11:32
mm-hmm any other thoughts about this
11:34
topic before we share with everyone how
11:36
they can get in touch with you um I I
11:40
just want to leave everybody with you
11:43
know do what feeds your soul do what
11:46
what lights you up it's it's it's who
11:49
you really are it's it's the core of
11:51
your being and don't be afraid to shine
11:55
don't be afraid to share it we're never
11:59
too old to show who you know I have a
12:01
comment about clothes I thought I saw a
12:04
show the other day about about you know
12:07
what to wear over 50 oh I'm looking at
12:11
this show and I'm going really I don't
12:16
know about you but I show up at forever
12:18
21 still because I love their clothes
12:20
Veronica why do you think this whole
12:23
this whole movement started because of
12:25
that we got kind of sick and tired about
12:27
being told what we can and can't do so
12:30
right young money so you know what
12:33
Veronica we mentioned and we'd mentioned
12:35
a couple of times that you're a singer
12:36
and then you're in that you have this
12:38
you have this amazing band you just did
12:40
a wedding this weekend I know and you
12:43
sent me and I'm gonna put this link in
12:45
the chat right now you set me a special
12:47
gift for all of our listeners and our
12:49
viewers that they can click on it and
12:51
listen to you actually sing this song
12:53
what song are you singing in there you
12:55
know well you know it's it's it's um
12:57
it's a remake of a Dolly Parton song and
13:03
actually Whitney Houston did it to I
13:05
will always love you but
13:07
change the words a little bit okay I
13:09
will always love me and I'll give you a
13:11
little explosion and and because I was
13:15
at a great retreat several years ago
13:18
called wine women and boots and it was a
13:20
bunch of entrepreneurial women were
13:22
getting together about you know
13:23
networking and all that wonderful stuff
13:25
and I got up and I sang and I hadn't
13:28
sung as I said for ten years I want to
13:30
sing I'm feeling something and I got up
13:33
and I say I changed the words to that
13:35
song because it was all about
13:37
empowerment and for ourselves and
13:39
getting rid of the Fred in our head you
13:42
know gremlin that's always you know on
13:44
our shoulder which you know I named him
13:46
Fred in my head he's got a name and he I
13:52
don't like him and I got up and I sang
13:56
and this song is sung to him about I
14:02
I love me so I know it's kind of corny
14:05
but it was really fun doing it and the
14:08
PERT one of the people that were was
14:09
running the the retreat she said oh my
14:11
god I want a recording of that so I did
14:13
it for her and I sent it to her and it's
14:15
only one verse but it's really kind of
14:19
fun and corny and you know hope people
14:21
like it I'm sure they will so guys so
14:23
take a look in the thread I actually put
14:26
