1:39
on my other side over there over there is honoree quarter and she is a
1:44
strategic book coach and the author of dozens of books including vision to reality which is one of my personal
1:50
favorites and the just release book stop trying so hard there you go how
1:57
how's that you know what I feel like I should do that to all three of us have the book I love the title I love you guys I'm just so grateful
2:04
that you decided to join me today on the show and before we actually dig right
2:09
into the show I'd like to ask my guest right off the bat what their little white lie is so how let's start with you first what is your
2:17
little white lie yeah Karen as I told you it was hardly to think of this but
2:22
but it's that I'm fulsome not the public my my real my fans everyone thinks that
2:29
I'm wholesome on an interview day we always say how you would probably never do this but let me ask you where this or
2:34
that and I think what it is is they confuse being polite with being awesome what I mean is behind closed doors I
2:41
love to use the F word I love to use the F word I use it all the time right um but in public I'm just polite I don't
2:47
talk to my grandma that way and I have a lot of grandmas in my audience so I'm very polite with them and of course
2:52
honorary quarter has got me saying the F word because I'm recommending her book to everybody that I know me but I always
2:59
say F mean I say stop trying so effing hard cuz I'm still trying to be polite but I actually don't even know what to
3:10
say right now so I'm gonna I'm just gonna go ahead and bring honor a in and
3:15
I'm gonna ask you honoree what is your little white lie that I don't tell any
3:21
little white lies Karen actually it's that I am NOT aging because I just
3:29
released the book and have my birthday on the same day two three days ago and at 48 I still feel like I'm in my early
3:37
30s so I think the calendar is progressing but I am NOT I love that you
3:44
guys have the best lies ever you have the best life ever thank you for sharing
3:50
them and being vulnerable with us so the question today is can you change the
3:55
direction of your life so first let's just kick this off by by asking you how
4:00
I mean you've got it you've got an amazing story that actually comes before the book you know the miracle morning
4:07
how it all happened so briefly let's just talk a little bit about your story how did this come about yeah I always
4:12
say it's a result of three rock bottom's and to define what a rock bottom is
4:18
everybody can relate we've all had them in fact we've had many of them and more of them are on the way not to depress
4:24
anybody but a rock bottom is simply a moment in your life where you experience adversity at a
4:29
level you've never experienced before so when you're a kid your rock bottoms are very different than when you're a teen and then when you're in your 20s and 30s
4:36
we go through financial rock bottom's relational rock bottom's you name it and my first big big big rock bottom came
4:43
when I was 19 years old I was driving home from a sales meeting at I had given a speech at and I was driving a white
4:49
Ford Mustang and I was hit head-on by a drunk driver at 70 miles per hour I spun off the drunk driver in the car
4:56
behind me crashed into my driver's side door at 70 miles per hour and instantaneous to the left side of my
5:01
body was crushed inside the car I broke 11 bones I've made my femur broke in
5:07
half I broke my pelvis and I was found dead at the scene I died for six minutes in a coma for six days and was told I
5:14
would never walk again and that set me on a path ago maybe I'm meant to do more than just sell products
5:20
maybe I'm meant to actually help people by overcoming my challenges and sharing with them out overcome theirs and then
5:27
when the US economy crashed in 2008 my second big rock bottom happened and that's where I lost everything I lost my
5:34
house I lost my income I went deep in debt I got depressed like my body fat tripled and that's what led to me
5:41
discovering the power of mourning rituals and I decided I wanted to create the ultimate mourning ritual I want to
5:48
create the best of the best so I could change my life fast as fast as possible
5:53
and I created this thing called the miracle morning knot it wasn't a book idea it wasn't a book title and within two months I
5:59
doubled my income I went from being in the worst shape of my life physically to running training for a 52 mile ultra
6:05
marathon I wasn't a runner but I decided that would help me to get out of my comfort zone and become a better version
6:12
of myself and you mentioned you know I never thought it would be a book but I decided I had a responsibility to share
6:18
it with the world and now as you said there's half a million people do this every day and um it's just you know
6:24
that's what that's actually it's wild I'm sure beyond your wildest imagination and then we've got honor and you guys
6:30
actually work together yes all right a few years back i reaiiy saw that she
6:36
left a review for me on Goodreads or not for me but for the book and I don't know why I mean it is
6:42
serendipity because it doesn't make any sense there were hundreds of reviews and of all the reviews for some reason it's
6:49
cuz she's a great writer by the way part of the reason I'm sure but it stood out to me and I just I like I googled her
6:54
and then I reached out to her and I saw she had a book series back then called the successful single mom book serum yes
7:00
and I thought maybe she would write a book in a miracle morning book series and the more I talked her I found out
7:07
that she was so overqualified more qualified than me to launch a book series I said hey instead of I know
7:13
literally our first phone call I said they know we just met but instead I'm just writing a book in the series how
7:19
about we co-create the series and we're partners 50/50 and she's like you know you know you should take me out to
7:25
dinner first 11 or 12 she knows better
7:33
than I do but we have about a dozen titles from the miracle morning for college students for entrepreneurs for
7:39
parents and families for sales people for real estate agents the miracle morning now we've ranched off into all
7:44
these different uh niches for different people so what was that bad like nipping
7:51
about and it's happening it was the same thing that he's describing serendipity without question because when he reached
7:58
out to me it was to write the miracle morning for single moms and I have just finished the sixth book in the six book
8:05
series I was done writing for single moms look I don't need to write any more blogs I don't need to write any more
8:10
about syv said everything the same way seventy five times I'm out and then he
8:15
sends me this message and says how about we talk about the miracle morning for single moms and there was something in
8:21
me that said just take the take the meeting take the conversation and I risked it in history and the rest is
8:27
history because who gets married on the first date right me I'm kidding okay you
8:37
we have a lot in common with you so that is yes I guess so and so so this this
8:42
magical coming together between the two of you happened and and you mentioned in
8:47
the beginning of the conversation about savers and about this whole idea of how we do that
8:53
I'm gonna actually put this up on the on the board so that people can see that so let's talk about this how does this
8:58
actually work I'm a big fan I do it every morning I mean I I I literally get
9:03
up every morning I didn't I'm not one of those people that had to worry about how am I gonna get up at five because I'm actually up at 3:00 but but I
9:11
but I totally understand this we got some people they're jumping on we got Tina saying hello well hello Tina by the
9:17
way guys if you want to make some comments and put it up here do you think that you can change the direction of your life let us know your thoughts put
9:23
it on in there and we'll put it up there so let's talk about savers what does s stand for yeah the savers are the six
9:31
most timeless personal development practices in the history of humanity I didn't invent any of them but what
9:36
happened the way they came about is I just was googling on my very first miracle morning what are the most what
9:42
are the most effective daily personal development practices in the history of you know it what are the world's most
9:49
success people do and these are the six that came up and I thought I was trying to figure out what's the best one and
9:54
the Epiphany what led to the miracle morning was when I went wait a minute what if I did all of these what if I
9:59
woke up every day and I started with the first s which is silence and there and that is you know meditation or prayer or
10:06
most people I think do a little bit of both I do both um but there are over 1,400 scientific studies all proving the
10:14
benefits of meditation the physical mental emotional spiritual and intellectual benefits of meditation and
10:21
so starting your day by lowering your cortisol levels which lowers your stress which which decreases your fear and
10:29
which allows you to focus on things like being grateful we tap into our inner wisdom in that of periods of silence so
10:35
the first part of the sabres is silence I love it so let's move to a honoré do
10:42
you want to take a I can take a I know what it stands for after Mason and I
10:50
actually love I love that you gave me a affirmations are what we say when we talk to ourselves it's what follows I am a lot of times
10:58
and what most people don't recognize that they are saying things like I am tired or I am stupid or I am NOT able to
11:05
do that and that's an affirmation whatever you're saying over and over to yourself you're affirming the practice of the miracle
11:11
morning the lifesavers puts the thought in your head that when you're talking to
11:16
yourself you have to say something in the affirmative as opposed to in the negative actually in the present right
11:22
so that you're you actually yes positive present tense forward focused and most
11:30
importantly out loud and when you're hopefully when you're looking yourself in the mirror you can be talking to
11:36
yourself in the mirror and there used to be that Saturday Night Live skit Stuart Smalley saying affirmations and it was
11:42
that funny thing and now I'm finding more and more people are developing the practice and they're doing it
11:48
consistently and they're starting to talk about which i think is very cool I think it's great and I know that you have a huge group of people that are all
11:55
doing this and they're there helping each other and throwing out ideas and I'm a member of me it's a great idea
12:00
what's B stand for the V is for visualization and I'll start by saying
12:06
that if you study the world's greatest athletes in any sport you'd be
12:12
hard-pressed to find one of the top athletes that does not swear by visualization and what they do is they
12:18
visualize their performance before they engage in the performance right so before they go to practice before they
12:25
take their first swing on the golf course where they go to the game they sit there in the morning or ideally in
12:30
the morning and they visualize they see themselves like a movie they see themselves performing perfectly they see
12:38
themselves dealing with challenges that come up and moving through those challenges and if the world's greatest
12:44
athletes use visualization to perform at their best every day why would we not do
12:49
the same in our day as a parent in our work right so the biggest tip I'll give
12:56
on visualization is this often you know there is a movie called the secret I enjoyed the movie but there was a lot of
13:02
criticism that it just told you to make a vision board put a bunch of pictures up and then sit back and you know
13:07
kumbaya and wait until everything magically showed up I believe that visualizing the activity is more
13:13
important in the result right you're training for a marathon don't just see yourself crossing the finish line because it's proven
13:20
through studies that you'll actually trick yourself into thinking that that results gonna happen without you doing
13:25
anything because you've seen it so many times you've got to see yourself crossing the finish line so you can believe it but then you've got to bring
13:31
your visualization to today and see yourself lacing up your running shoes heading out the front door for your one
13:38
mile training run so if you're a salesperson see yourself picking up the phone at the exact time you're committed
13:44
to doing so and making your ten twenty forty phone calls to generate the
13:49
results so don't just see the end result see yourself doing the things that will
13:55
get you to the result and create the experience mentally and emotionally of you doing those things with courage with
14:02
confidence and actually enjoying things that won't be enjoyable for you that's actually one of my favourite ones of the
14:09
Sabres and visually I do it every day before I get on a show I visualize what the show is gonna look like I'm a huge
14:15
fan of Stephen Covey and he believes you know he says begin with the end in mind and that is actually what I myself as
14:23
having a successful show having fun with you guys on no matter the nervousness you know no matter how many times we do
14:29
things like this there's always those butterflies that kick in but I imagined and I visualized it so I just that's my
14:35
personal favorite so on a Ray what does e stand for these dance or exercise and
14:41
I'm gonna give a tip lake house giving a tip exercise does not have to be training for a marathon and how I am
14:47
gonna say you can't visualize yourself running one mile if you're training for a marathon you have to visualize that
14:52
20-mile run that you do a couple of weeks before the marathon in preparation right right but exercise doesn't have to
15:00
be this big intense thing if you're not an exerciser if you're more accounts are further than a surfer what you want to
15:07
do is just start to move you will build your endurance you will build your strength and you will release endorphins
15:12
after a certain point so for me exercising when I'm talking to someone who's never been an exerciser and
15:19
they're like well I'm just not going to do the 'part I point out that they're gonna miss out on the endorphins that
15:24
they will enjoy those chemicals that are released in their body naturally right I'm moving and breathing and getting
15:30
yourself going now I know that one of the things before we get into R and s one of the things
15:37
that you talk about we don't necessarily have to do it all in the disorder right ya can customize your savers and you can
15:45
even switch them up like I put a post in the miracle morning community the Facebook group recently um about keeping
15:50
it fresh and now as human beings one of our needs is variety and when things become too redundant and too mundane it
15:58
doesn't stimulate our nervous system and we don't actually we often lose our level of engagement so yeah so keep it
16:05
you know and the beauty of the savers is all every single one of them takes one minute to learn and a lifetime to master
16:11
right so you can try new meditation routines you can research new meditation routines right you can you there's
16:17
infinite ways to word phrase you know focus your affirmations right different visualization techniques exercise right
16:24
is infinite ways you can exercise so bad place for me I'm big on you can change up the order if you need to a lot of
16:30
people like I like to meditate first thing people tell me about how I fall asleep if I meditate first thing right I
16:35
can't do that person right a hundred jumping jacks right understood now right
16:44
and then you can go into the other savers so play with them have fun with them keep them fresh and do what works
16:50
for you so what's our scan for the RS is probably the simplest one it's for
16:55
reading and I don't mean reading you know Fifty Shades of Grey or Harry
17:01
Potter books nothing wrong with you but I'm talking about reading business books personal development books whatever
17:07
books are in alignment with the areas of your life the area or areas ya read
17:13
Andres books not from me so Pepe hard yeah but but but here's the thing I
17:20
really believe that we are all one book away from learning what we need to learn
17:25
to transform any area of our lives right if you want to improve your marriage guess what there's a book for that no no
17:32
wait there's hundreds maybe thousands of books for that right the five lovely I've read that's a fantastic book um if
17:39
you want to if you want to become wealthy don't just sit there and wish you're wealthy or make a vision board and you know passively
17:45
go there's hundreds thousands of books on how to do that right any result any
17:50
area of your life you want to transform there are books out there on that and it doesn't mean I mean literally five pages
17:57
a day equates to 150 pages a month
18:02
honourees book is a hundred and forty some pay it's under 150 pages so in
18:08
every book every month you'd be reading a new book and you know six months from now you've read six self-help books
18:15
you're gonna be a different person you're gonna think differently here you know new strategies in your world your
18:20
life is going to change by just implementing the art and I knew you on a
18:27
radar if you you know you're the writer the big about that what does that mean
18:35
go right above it well as this first scribing which is another word for journaling so I think somewhere in there
18:41
how thinked thesaurus for the for the word cab you Larry that was that the
18:48
source yes so scribing it is journaling notating
18:54
taking notes capturing thoughts and ideas capturing distinctions when you
19:01
have that aha moment writing it down when you are in the shower or on the
19:07
treadmill you can have I have a crayon a shower crayon a glass crayon that I
19:13
write ideas on the shower I have all glass walls so I write ideas so I don't lose them a journal is a place for you
19:19
to capture your life to take notes during conversations that are important to you so you remember those details to
19:26
capture ideas book ideas or life ideas or thoughts that you have or things that
19:32
you want to say to people later I love the journaling and I just read an
19:38
article recently about the journals of famous people or noted people and I
19:45
thought it was fascinating how this most successful people throughout history how really you know stumbled upon something
19:50
when when everyone who is really great at what they do
19:55
carries a little note with them no put them everywhere they go and there things down III and I these are so many
20:02
wonderful nuggets that you're throwing out guys I hope you're taking notes up not you guys apparently but you know the
20:08
people you're watching take some notes and ask questions we're gonna be back and we'll respond to all of this so I
20:14
have a question to ask both of you what is your why why do you do this why did why do you even do this in the first
20:20
place is what I have a personal philosophy and one of the tenants of my
20:26
philosophy is to leave everyone at everything better than they found them and so my why is to make the world a
20:33
better place make each person that I come in contact with the better it better and to save suffering to help
20:40
people to do things better faster more efficiently more effectively and in a more joyful way happier to be happier
20:46
and to avoid pain if at all possible that that's really that's actually wonderful how you talk to me about Limit
20:53
aspo tential that you know you know I mean I think honor and I it's very much in alignment you know it uses different
21:00
words but but for me I just I I believe so much that we all have unlimited potential and when I was 19 I met a
21:07
mentor my whole life before I was 19 I was very average averages is an overstatement I was meaning I didn't get
21:14
good grades I found I I wasn't an athlete like I never accomplished
21:20
anything extraordinary and when I was 19 I met a mentor who believed in me and ten days later I had broken a 50 year
21:27
old company sales record and my life was never the same and in that moment I felt
21:32
this sense of gratitude for my mentor and I thought I got to pay it forward and ever since then every you know the
21:38
car accident the all the stuff that happens it's this desire to to really help believe in people help them see and
21:45
believe in themselves the way my mentor did for me so that they can live to their full potential and create the life
21:50
that they really want and all of us deserve we just have to understand that we're capable of it and do the things
21:56
that will get us there that's wonderful what I'd like to do right now is talk a little bit about your books and and you
22:03
know encourage people to if they haven't already changed their lives by by doing
22:09
the miracle morning maybe now is the time so we're talking I'm just gonna put this on on first the miracle morning so it's
22:16
it's in how many languages right now it's all over right you said 27 but it keeps going I think
22:22
it's like 34 now I don't know it just keeps going yeah well Tina Tina just said I wish you had
22:27
a book for kids with trauma so that's an idea put it on your notebook
22:33
she's the brains of this operation that that that's great and um so it's in lots
22:40
of different language there's also a journal that you guys have done right there's a journal that for those people who like to have the book and they want
22:46
to be able to write it down but you also have downloadable pages people can do it that way right here yeah miracle morning
22:52
comm is where you can download the first few chapters of the book for free audio training for free video training for
22:58
free and that's the way to you know if you want to buy the book of course go to Amazon that's the best place audiobook
23:03
Kindle paperback like whatever reason you're not sure you want to test it out
23:08
yeah if you go to miracle Morning Calm you can get a like a preview kit and check everything out and to make it even
23:14
easier if you guys just type miracle in the comments we're gonna send you right there and you're gonna be able to go and
23:21
check this all out you're gonna go check out more about how and we're about honoré and also more about getting the books okay so that's that's gonna be in
23:27
there I'm gonna go ahead and put up another book cause I want to put your book in I want to make sure I put the
23:34
right one up though so I already said the f-word already so let's stop trying
23:47
so for those of you who don't want to hear it nothing hard or hard and go
23:52
ahead and check out the book so tell us a bit about the book what are they gonna get out of this book they are going to
23:58
get the permission to say no to things that don't resonate with them to say yes
24:03
only to things that resonate with them and make them happy to live authentically to shed any limiting
24:11
beliefs that they have and to finally be happy in their lives that's a beautiful
24:16
thing isn't it and I think and because and because we went ahead and pulled up some of these photos so you guys have a
24:23
real good sense of who everybody is here this is Elrod and I'm gonna drop this out I've
24:29
got a lot of pictures in here and unfortunately every time I do this they ended up with different people's faces in here and we don't want to do that
24:35
and we've got I love this picture of you on a Ray that's a great shot of you now you just moved to Nashville right you just moved yes yeah and uh and and so
24:43
you you changed the direction of your life and the location correct I did you
24:48
did okay so what I'd like to do right now is I'd like to ask you guys cuz people are always curious because they'd
24:55
like to know the inside scoop what is one thing that people don't know about you how what is one thing that people
25:00
don't know about you um I'm pretty much an open book but I think that uh the log hope I don't know that I never finished
25:06
college when I was I started college and then I went I just went this isn't for me I want to do other things that I
25:13
don't that don't require a degree I wanted to be a speaker I wanted to be an author I wanted to be in sales initially
25:19
so yeah so I never finished college and I'm a big advocate for college I've got a college fund for both my kids and I
25:25
believe a lot in education but for me the education is behind me you can see um you know self education if you will
25:32
but uh but yeah that's one thing there's there's a lot of ways to get education I mean there's there's colleges there's
25:37
for years two years there's Technical College's so there's a lot of ways to get an education I also did not graduate
25:42
college so I understand that honoring what is something that people don't know about you I never went to college at all
25:50
not only did I not finish college I didn't even start it but I've been to a
25:55
college many campuses it's almost as
26:03
good as being in there right I just I just absorbed something yeah yeah called
26:12
it motivational speaker for like three years it's really weird that I spent I was speaking at all these I love that I
26:20
love that and I also know one of your other things and I'm gonna share it because we have something in common there is that your classical pianist yes
26:27
I took eight years of the seven seven and a half eight years of the Suzuki
26:33
method so I learned all the songs and then I learned them all in a different
26:38
key so I could play with accompanying violence well I I'm also
26:43
piano player I feel like I've known you guys forever and ever and ever we have so much in common one tip what would you like to share
26:50
with everybody one tip that you'd like to share how what what would be one tip uh not surprisingly I mean it's it's
26:56
very much in alignment with our interview right which is I really believe that the single most effective thing that we any of us can do to
27:03
transform our lives is wake up and first thing in the morning start our day by dedicating time to our personal
27:09
development so whatever your personal good on the ritual or routine is whether it's the miracle morning or something
27:15
else make sure that you're dedicating time in the morning to becoming the person that you need to be in terms of
27:21
the confidence the mindset the beliefs the qualities the habits the skills right everything that you need in your
27:27
arsenal to create the life that you want the most extraordinary life you can imagine dedicate the first part of your
27:34
day to becoming that person that's able to create everything that you want great
27:40
tip on away what's one tip you want to share with everyone my tip is to turn up
27:45
the volume on the voice in your head whether it's yours or someone else's telling you that you can do something and to turn the volume down on the voice
27:51
that's telling you you can't do something which is probably your own voice but if it's someone else just turn it down awesome awesome guides if you
27:59
want to find out more about hell and more about honoré just type miracle in the comments and you will get access to
28:06
pals website you'll get access to on a raise website you're going to get access
28:11
to the Facebook group the miracle morning all that information will be in
28:17
there are there any last thoughts that you would like to share with our audience because we're getting towards the end of the show I can't believe that
28:23
this went so fast anything else that you like to share before we say goodbye all
28:28
right well I want to say thank you for having us Karen it's been a delight to be with you thank you so much you're
28:34
very welcome Oh echo those words but I'll leave everyone with this and this for me is so
28:39
important right one of my affirmations every day and it's that anytime you find yourself wishing that you were further
28:45
along than you are right now remember that when you finally get to the point that you've been working so hard for for
28:51
so long you almost never wish would have happened any sooner instead once you get there you look back and you
28:56
oh I see the perfection in my journey I had to go through all those difficult times so be at peace with where you are
29:04
right now and maintain that healthy sense of urgency every day wake up and dedicate
29:09
time do something that moves you closer to the direction of where you want to be so that's wonderful I want to thank you
29:16
for taking time out of your busy days I know how busy you guys are from the bottom of my heart thank you for taking
29:22
the time I'm gonna go ahead and drop you down into the green room I have a super boomer moment I want to share with the
29:27
audience and thank you again thank you
29:37
so now it's time for the super boomer moment and this is where I share with
29:42
you something that I got out of this particular show and there's not just one thing I'm just gonna pick one thing
29:48
there's so much that I got out of the show this is what I like about the miracle morning number one I personally
29:54
use it I have been I have been an avid fan of these two for a very long time
29:59
actually honoré and I go back much longer than then I go back with hell but now how we're best friends I just want
30:05
you to know that but one of the things that I really like it is a lap by doing this whole miracle mourning process it
30:13
has allowed me to work on all aspects of my life I think when we are high producers when we're out there
30:19
go-go-going and we tend to get caught up in different things and then stay with
30:24
blinders on and just do that one thing what miracle morning has done for me in the morning is that I do all those
30:30
things I do the six things and I it makes me do a little bit of something for every aspect in my life and that has
30:37
really been a game changer for me it is allowed me to get out of my own way so that's the super boomer moment of of
30:44
today's show and I'm going to go ahead and remind you again if you haven't already done that go ahead and put
30:49
miracle in the comments and we will get the information out and here's the thing guys I know that you have a choice as to
30:55
where you spend your time and you chose to spend it with us today I am so thankful for that I know that our guests
31:02
