1:39
you're here I'm really happy that you're
1:40
here you know this is premiere of our
1:42
season three so welcome to the very
1:45
first episode of season three excited to
1:48
be back in the saddle and we're going to
1:50
just start right off by talking about
1:52
super boomers because I'd like to ask
1:54
people what a super boomer is and then
1:55
they asked me and they go I don't know I
1:57
don't even know what a super boomer is
1:58
so let me give you my definition and
2:00
then I'm gonna ask you what yours is
2:01
when I think super boomer I think super
2:05
boomers are not defined by their age and
2:07
they're fearless and they it's how they
2:10
show up in life and they don't
2:12
they don't say well I'm this age and I'm
2:14
supposed to do that that's how I
2:15
describe a super boomer what says you
2:18
rose what's a super boomer I think a
2:21
super boomer for me is it lifestyle
2:23
it's a lifestyle of fun and never saying
2:27
no and being curious I mean I think
2:30
being a super boomer means that you're
2:32
flexible you are willing to go that
2:36
extra mile and not to just think that
2:40
you're getting old because that's just
2:42
the thought that can go away you know
2:45
staying youthful being playful having
2:48
fun you know it's it's all part of just
2:51
life so don't let age define you and
2:54
travel right and travel absolutely
2:57
Travel goes without saying Travel is
2:59
like yes it goes without saying and as
3:02
our good buddy Joey Garrity likes to say
3:05
you need to be prepared and at the drop
3:07
of a dime to start and you know get
3:09
ready to travel right and so um we're
3:12
gonna jump right in you know back in
3:14
2012 I actually produced over 20 events
3:19
I hip-hop across the country back and
3:22
forth yeah I know what was I thinking I
3:23
don't know what I was thinking and I
3:25
actually swore I would never do it again
3:26
but at the end of the year after doing
3:29
all of those vents we actually took a
3:30
business cruise 50 people joined me on a
3:33
business cruise and we went off the
3:35
upper florida we went all over the place
3:37
and we had great speakers because I got
3:40
it I got the idea that when you travel
3:43
you get to meet lots of really cool
3:44
people right and you get to learn lots
3:47
of really cool things and you are a
3:49
travel connector that's what you do so
3:53
you advocate traveling on purpose what
3:55
does that mean traveling on purpose um
3:57
bottom line is that when you travel
4:01
travel with an intention of what is it
4:05
that you want from that travel trip do
4:07
you want to meet new people do you want
4:09
to experience new foods new cultures do
4:12
you want to learn something new do you
4:14
want to help the environment in that
4:15
area what is it that you want to do when
4:18
you travel or do you just want to go
4:20
away on the beach and just relax and
4:22
just have some R&R for yourself what is
4:24
your intention
4:26
love driving so traveling on purpose
4:28
that's what that comes from I totally
4:29
love that and I'm always prepared I just
4:32
put up an image up here
4:33
I travel believe it or not in my car I
4:37
have a little suitcase this one that
4:40
basically and I'll put it up there so
4:41
but you can see it it has all my cords
4:43
because I'm a geek right it has my phone
4:45
cords it has my computer cords it has my
4:47
my power cords it has everything do you
4:49
have something like that it's called my
4:54
purse my purse my purse becomes that I
4:59
love it I love it you know so guys you
5:02
know what one of the things that I like
5:03
to encourage you is to go check out the
5:05
super boomer lifestyle store because all
5:07
of these things that we're going to be
5:08
showing today and we're going to be
5:09
sharing with you you can get in the
5:11
store so that you are prepared now one
5:14
of the things that I really like that
5:15
you say you have this thing called TNT
5:17
what is TNT stand for TNT is travel and
5:21
transformation but it's kind of we all
5:23
recognize TNT as dynamite yes yeah loads
5:27
them you know just being a boomer so TNT
5:31
is I bring the TNT and you bring the
5:33
spark oh my gosh that's such a visual
5:36
right that it's such a visual how many
5:38
of you guys out there do you think that
5:41
when you go to travel it's going to be
5:43
one of those explosive occasions that
5:45
you are going to learn so much put
5:46
comments down there tell us about how
5:48
you travel tell us about what that
5:51
experience it is and let us know are you
5:53
ready right now
5:53
if Rose tells you we got an event coming
5:55
up what she's going to do are you ready
5:57
to get on a plane or a car or an
6:00
automobile or a bus or it may be even
6:02
your bicycle to go visit Rose this is
6:04
going to be awesome
6:06
all right so Rose tell me a little bit
6:09
about your why why do you do this so the
6:14
reason why I do this and why I travel I
6:17
just you know I thought about this with
6:18
my why and I've been thinking about it
6:21
Karen I want to take you back a little
6:22
bit alright I want to take you back to
6:24
when I was a child and the why started
6:27
there when I took a field trip traveling
6:30
on an airplane for a school field trip I
6:33
knew right then and there I wanted to be
6:35
a stewardess we called them stewardesses
6:37
and then you know why because it was
6:39
traveling somewhere fun a new experience
6:42
the stewardesses were very fashionable
6:44
and they served people it it kind of
6:47
tapped into everything that I do and I
6:49
when I look when I thought about this
6:51
question going forward I'm thinking you
6:53
know I've been doing this my entire life
6:55
this is something that I've been wanting
6:57
to do so what I and why I do it is to
7:00
help others discover some of the things
7:03
I have experienced with traveling and
7:05
also bringing education to it so the
7:08
genius etc.the brings education and
7:11
adventure together so it's building a
7:13
platform so people can travel and learn
7:15
while there while they're having some
7:17
fun as well what are you thinking
7:19
together why do you think some of the
7:20
challenges are as we get older as we
7:22
become those super boomers and and we
7:25
get a little bit older are there
7:26
challenges that we experience as an
7:28
older person or is it just travel as an
7:30
experience doesn't change what do you
7:32
think well I think that the normal
7:36
things about traveling as we get older
7:39
sometimes where we're not as tolerant
7:41
maybe our bodies aren't as tolerant in a
7:44
in a seat for so for so many hours but
7:48
really when it comes down to it you
7:50
really choose how you want to travel
7:51
there's different types of traveling
7:53
it's really where you're at mentally
7:55
where you're physically and you find a
7:58
group or you find a tour or you find
8:00
some your your keeps and your tribe to
8:04
travel with so that you're all on the
8:05
same page so no I don't think depending
8:08
on age it doesn't really matter what
8:10
your age is there's there's types of
8:11
travel for all age levels all activity
8:16
levels so yeah so you know this this uh
8:20
I've actually changed as I've gotten
8:22
older a stick I used to travel with oh
8:24
my gosh and I'm sure a lot of people are
8:25
like this I used to travel with so much
8:27
luggage that it is surprising that I
8:30
actually got anywhere because I would go
8:32
stand in the in the luggage place and I
8:35
would sit there and wait and wait for
8:36
the gazillion bags that will come I now
8:38
travel with one bag I'd literally I
8:41
don't know I maybe you do the same thing
8:43
I want something that I can put under my
8:45
seat on the plane or in the overhead and
8:47
I travel light what are some thoughts
8:50
and some recommendations for people that
8:52
are getting
8:53
to travel well I think when you want to
8:56
travel so you can travel light because I
8:58
believe that is the number one thing
9:00
travel light it will make your life so
9:02
much easier
9:03
think about what you're gonna put in
9:05
that bag
9:06
you know go at the same color scheme of
9:08
what your wardrobes going to be breena's
9:10
scarf that you can intertwine with a lot
9:13
of different outfits
9:14
I typically wear black and Gray's and
9:17
then I bring different scarves and
9:18
things that will accent that outfit so
9:20
you're wearing less clothing or you're
9:23
bringing less clothing in your bag
9:25
there's ways that you can find fabrics
9:29
of clothing that rolls very easily and
9:31
it doesn't wrinkle so those are some of
9:34
the things I think about when I travel
9:36
is you know finding the Wardrobe that
9:39
can go for many many days and that you
9:42
can rinse and wash in your room and dry
9:45
really fast and be able to wear the next
9:48
couple of days or whatever see and I
9:50
tend to have stuff already packed
9:52
believe it or not I use these little uh
9:54
packing cubes and I know that I can just
9:57
grab I throw it in my suitcase I have
9:59
you know my my pair of jeans a couple of
10:02
tops that I might want to wear if I'm
10:03
going to go to a business event I might
10:05
wear a pack a pair of black slacks that
10:07
kind of thing and I'm always prepared
10:09
with my toiletry bag because who wants
10:14
to pack your toiletry bag in fact that's
10:16
one that is one of those things that if
10:18
I have to do it each time
10:19
I'm not going to travel I'm just not you
10:21
are so right on and you know Karen it's
10:24
so funny this year I traveled with my
10:26
daughter to Bali a couple of months ago
10:28
and I saw that she did not have a
10:32
toiletry bag with anything I said Tiana
10:34
brush oh no do you have this no I'm like
10:36
oh my gosh so you know what I did for
10:38
her for Christmas as I bought a bag and
10:41
I filled with all the toiletries that
10:43
you need you know even like down to the
10:46
shout that you put for like a stain all
10:48
the things that you would need when you
10:49
travel and I was just in LA in her area
10:53
and she was traveling and guess what she
10:55
had taken the whole bag with her but she
10:57
was so jazzed about it that gift she's
11:00
like oh my god it's all there you know
11:02
all those things that you think you need
11:04
and you can just make little travel-size
11:05
of everything
11:06
and have that bag ready to go so you can
11:08
just grab it and go
11:09
apps absolutely I mean because if you're
11:13
not ready to go and again you know Joe
11:15
give a shout out to Joey you know she's
11:16
always talking about be prepared so if
11:19
you get the call to come do a speaking
11:21
engagement or if you get the call to go
11:24
to an event that you're not thinking I
11:28
don't have the time to do this be
11:31
prepared it's like a Girl Scout right be
11:33
prepared all right and also be prepared
11:36
with your passport that's one thing that
11:38
some people need to think about as well
11:39
so you have to have six months left on
11:43
your passport to be able to travel out
11:45
of the country so if your passports
11:47
going to expire within a month and you
11:50
need to travel you need to look at that
11:51
so and also with your pages you need to
11:53
have six pages if you're doing visas or
11:55
whatever so make sure your passports
11:57
current and ready to go as well I
12:00
actually I'm going on a cruise at the
12:02
end of the year and my passport is going
12:04
to expire two months after the cruise
12:06
has started and I know you have to have
12:08
six months so I'm right now in the
12:09
process of getting my passport renewed
12:11
and all of that that's such a great tip
12:13
any other tips that people should
12:15
remember if they want to be ready to
12:17
travel on a dime
12:19
I think probably that and also just you
12:23
know be prepared like with your health
12:26
you know have all of your your medicines
12:28
up-to-date you know if you know you're
12:30
going to travel make sure you get your
12:33
prescriptions refilled or you know do
12:35
all of that maintenance for yourself
12:38
your health and and just that's one
12:40
thing I always say that you know be
12:43
ready to go like if you're wanting a
12:45
manicure if you know that this for
12:47
example you're a speaker you need to be
12:49
ready to go you need to make sure your
12:51
eyebrows are waxed your your fingers or
12:54
your fingers whatever you want you need
12:56
to have the maintenance done so that's
12:58
something that should always be ready to
13:00
go so for those of you who are watching
13:03
live or on replay how do you prepare for
13:06
a trip how do you get ready are you
13:08
ready in advance do you have a travel
13:10
bag do you have the the cubes packed you
13:12
have all your chords in one place how do
13:15
you prepare for a trip comment below let
13:18
us know how you
13:18
prepare because that's important I see
13:21
right behind you rose you have this
13:22
beautiful image and I actually put it up
13:24
on the screen as well tell us a little
13:26
bit about this okay so this this really
13:29
speaks to me I bought this print in Los
13:31
Angeles a month ago for an event that I
13:34
was doing down there
13:35
and I was looking for something to put
13:37
on my table and I ran into this and it
13:39
just speaks to me because it's really
13:41
where my heart is I love to travel I
13:45
love our country I love our world I try
13:48
to do everything I can to make an impact
13:50
in our world so this whole globe of
13:53
loving each other and loving the the
13:55
globe and to travel and to know new
13:57
cultures and to know new people and to
14:00
explore just it's just an amazing and of
14:03
course you can see I wear hearts I
14:05
bought this in Rome I saw this in a in a
14:09
window and I passed it when I was
14:10
traveling and I went and I went a few
14:13
blocks I'm like I think I need to go
14:15
back and buy that so I did and you know
14:18
I'm all about love and hearts and just
14:20
at the passion that I have for living
14:23
life and to traveling and meeting new
14:25
people and and I just enjoy that so yeah
14:28
so that painting speaks to me that
14:29
that's that is wonderful so you know I
14:32
always like to ask my guests this
14:35
question because we have a network of
14:37
people out there that know love and like
14:38
us right they just say they like us but
14:41
they don't know everything about us is
14:42
there something that you want to share
14:44
about yourself that maybe your own
14:47
network your family doesn't know about
14:48
you well I think um I think what maybe
14:53
people don't really realize about me is
14:55
I'm pretty creative and I really can
14:59
spend hours creating I can spend hours
15:02
putting together collages of photos or
15:06
just creating new things as a supporter
15:09
typically in someone that does events
15:11
and travels and I'm always on the go I
15:13
don't have a lot of time does really
15:15
just sit down and create but the times
15:17
that I do I really really enjoy that I
15:19
leave Journal when you're on trips I do
15:21
I do I love to write that's one of my
15:24
passions I also write for thrive global
15:27
and Huffington Post and I've written a
15:28
novel so writing is one of my passions
15:31
and always
15:32
is that all you written for her Oh oh
15:35
darn you might you know what I'm after
15:38
the show let's get some of that
15:39
information and we'll put it in the show
15:40
notes so that people can go check that
15:43
out the next thing I want to talk with
15:45
you about is your actual trips and your
15:47
ear adventures you have something called
15:49
entrepreneur adventure how clever is
15:51
that tell us what that is
15:52
so entrepreneur adventures are basically
15:56
adventure is education and adventure we
15:59
bring those together for entrepreneurs
16:01
we marry those together so when you
16:04
travel you're traveling on purpose to
16:06
learn and to adventure so that's where
16:08
entrepreneur adventure comes from and
16:10
you have an event coming up soon and I'm
16:13
gonna put the link up here so that
16:15
people can go in and sign up for this
16:17
because again now that we're telling you
16:19
need to be prepared I did tell you that
16:21
we're gonna talk about an event that's
16:22
coming up in the next couple of months
16:24
so tell us a little bit about what's
16:25
gonna happen okay so we have I'm working
16:28
on right now and what I like to do is
16:30
I'd like to collaborate with people that
16:32
are doing wonderful things and I haven't
16:35
done a lot of mentoring and I have been
16:37
mentored myself I've been mentored by
16:39
Andrew Eagleton who is a presenters
16:41
coach and he comes from Australia and
16:43
he's coming for the first time to the
16:45
United States in April he'll be in San
16:48
Francisco April 9th and then in New York
16:51
April 13th so I had partnered with him
16:54
so he will bring a group of people it's
16:57
a solidity to mount of seats and hilt in
16:59
he'll teach how to go from good
17:02
presenting to world-class presenting and
17:04
then the next day I am taking that group
17:06
of people who sign up and we're gonna go
17:08
take a trip to Napa and we're going to
17:10
adventure so we get education one day
17:13
with Andrew and we adventure the next
17:15
day in Napa oh my god so those are the
17:17
type of events that I like to put
17:19
together that's awesome that's awesome
17:21
and you know that I that I hail from
17:23
Napa I'm actually really jealous I'm
17:26
thinking that maybe I need to jump up
17:28
and go up there and join you and do this
17:31
I'm actually gonna put this up because
17:33
Joey actually put the San Francisco
17:35
April 9th it's coming but we will have
17:37
all the information down below in the
17:39
link they can sign up and they can join
17:41
you I know that you and I just talked
17:43
about some of the really cool places and
17:44
now
17:45
so you guys when you sign up for this
17:47
first of all we're telling you that
17:49
we're encouraging you to be ready to do
17:51
this so this is a perfect example be
17:54
ready to do this learn how to be a
17:55
presenter I think almost any business
17:57
owner can can be helped by those skills
17:59
would you agree yes for sure
18:03
and Andrews pretty amazing so go to his
18:05
website and you'll learn more about who
18:07
he is but yes it's it's really a good
18:09
works that's awesome you know um we
18:13
always get asked how do we get in touch
18:14
with our guests so I'm gonna put your
18:16
website up its imagine that rose to FOIA
18:19
com that's very clever
18:21
I'm kidding if you wanna follow Rose on
18:25
Twitter like I do go to at genius
18:28
underscore etc if you want to follow her
18:31
on Instagram which I encourage you to do
18:33
as well again it's at genius underscore
18:36
etc and finally go check her out on
18:38
Facebook and imagine that genius etc so
18:43
you go over twitter and IG you can
18:46
follow her just like I do and get some
18:48
great tips great ideas great stories and
18:51
and she's and it's gonna be it actually
18:54
is going to enhance your life I really
18:56
do believe this you know Rose you are
18:58
you are doing something that I think a
19:00
lot of people only think about doing you
19:04
are following your dream I know you are
19:05
passionate about this tell us about this
19:08
passionate because I know it started a
19:10
long time ago you know so um so Karen
19:14
I'm a passion test facilitator like I
19:16
believe you are as well right so passion
19:18
and living with passion and purpose is
19:19
just who I am with this I have gotten
19:23
involved with a platform an educational
19:25
platform for entrepreneurs called genius
19:27
you and a couple years ago I just ran
19:30
into this looking for something again
19:31
for my daughter
19:32
to help her with entrepreneur her skills
19:35
and I ran in and now what I'm doing with
19:37
entrepreneur and genius you is just
19:40
putting together all sorts of events for
19:42
them working with them
19:44
they do a lot of educational workshops
19:47
so bringing people to those workshops
19:50
and then doing some adventure having
19:53
some fun after we're done learning or
19:55
taking our learnings and doing something
19:56
with it making an impact doing whatever
19:58
we need to
19:59
do so that's just where I've been for
20:01
the last couple years but you know my my
20:04
whole lifespan is just following my
20:07
passion and that is the writing and the
20:10
traveling I was a travel agent for many
20:12
years so I'm using all the skills that I
20:15
know and have and bringing them all
20:17
together and the other thing that I'm
20:19
doing as well coming forward is I'm
20:21
going to be doing workshops on my own to
20:23
really enhance the talent of teams and
20:26
how to build teams within companies so
20:29
it's talent dynamics so I'm doing that
20:31
with genius q and bringing that together
20:33
so you'll see more of that coming up for
20:35
me and doing more of my own workshops so
20:37
I now will be able to take those
20:39
workshops too I want to take and I'll
20:42
put this out there and we can probably
20:44
do something and do this together with
20:46
super boomers is to go to Italy and
20:48
Spain and Jun and do a trip there and do
20:52
a talent dynamics workshop and then
20:54
travel so this is where I'm going with
20:56
this and how we can incorporate to teach
20:58
to learn to educate and have fun
21:02
everyone needs a rose in their corner
21:06
that's all I could say and I think I
21:09
heard Italy and I'm there Italy is
21:11
amazing the food everything and again
21:15
you're showing us how we can be prepared
21:16
and to go I do believe that everyone
21:19
needs a rose in their corner is there
21:21
any last-minute thoughts that you'd like
21:24
to share with us before I drop you into
21:25
the green room well let me see let me
21:28
put my glasses on and see if any notes
21:30
that I wrote out if that's anything yes
21:32
I do want to I do want to say something
21:36
that I think is really important in
21:37
another thing that I live by is showing
21:40
up yeah
21:41
showing up and this is the book that I'm
21:43
working on right now it's called showing
21:44
up never lets me down love it because
21:48
when you show up that's when the magic
21:50
happens it's only show up in your life
21:53
for whatever that is and whatever that
21:55
looks like weather travels involved in
21:57
that or just a workshop or just being
22:00
with friends and family whatever that
22:02
looks like just show up and be present
22:04
and enjoy your life live your best life
22:07
and you know not don't be afraid to
22:09
learn I'm a learning leader I I think
22:12
learning and being curious is really
22:14
what keeps me alive and keeps me focused
22:18
on where I want to go just don't be
22:20
afraid to learn we need to learn
22:21
something new every day and be curious
22:23
oh and they like just do it right yeah
22:26
do it
22:28
Rose Tafoya I want to thank you from the
22:30
bottom of my heart I am I was excited to
22:33
have you on for the premiere show Travel
22:35
is I think is going to be the topic for
22:37
the year we need to get out of our own
22:39
way we need to get out of our own box we
22:42
need to get out of the fear we need to
22:44
step into being a super boomer and you
22:47
epitomize that so I want to thank you
22:49
for being on the show I'm gonna drop you
22:51
into the green room as I get ready to do
22:53
my super boomer moment one of those
22:55
things that I think just was an aha
22:57
moment for me and again I just want to
22:59
thank you for your time today
23:01
Thanks thank you Karen thank you so much
23:03
I really had a fine thank you everybody
23:07
so here is here's my super boomer moment
23:15
you know as I've gotten older and I
23:18
think I mentioned at the beginning as
23:19
I've gotten older I am a little less
23:22
anxious to travel and maybe it's because
23:24
I've done so much travel and I don't
23:26
mean traveling around the world I mean
23:27
in in the country you know we're going
23:29
to this place I used to I used to have a
23:31
post that I would say I'm on the road
23:33
dot again because it was so much
23:36
traveling but now as I've gotten a
23:38
little bit older and I put that
23:39
traveling behind now I can travel with
23:41
purpose as Rose says and I love that
23:44
have a purpose have a reason that you're
23:46
doing this go to an event to learn
23:48
something go to an event to experience
23:51
something go to roses event in San
23:53
Francisco and then in Napa to have some
23:55
great wine and to learn how to be a
23:57
great presenter I just think that we
23:59
need to get out of our own way as super
24:01
boomers as anybody for that matter but
24:03
we need to get out of own way and just
24:05
do it I want to thank you guys for being
24:09
on the show today we know that you have
24:11
a choice as to how you spend your time
24:12
and you chose to spend it with rose and
24:14
I today on the premiere episode 1 of
24:17
season 3 we want to thank you for doing
24:20
that and I want to thank all of you down
