0:02
hello everyone Karen Glasser here and
0:05
welcome to this episode of the passion
0:07
point this is the show where we follow
0:09
passion ESA's all around the world who
0:12
are following their passion making a
0:14
living doing what they love and today we
0:16
have a guest all the way from across the
0:19
pond I think that's how we refer to it
0:20
across the pond and even Seeley I think
0:23
that's how we call it Steven Haley he's
0:25
a business video chat show host so I
0:28
already love him for that as well as
0:30
Annie Demi and Skillshare Tudor based in
0:32
Wiltshire he is the co-author of the
0:35
book live streaming vide video streaming
0:38
how to grow your business online and he
0:41
has hosted over 200 live shows oh my god
0:47
Steven Healy welcome to the show hello
0:50
Karen thank you for inviting me it's
0:52
good to be here and I'm looking forward
0:55
to having a fruitful and enjoyable chat
0:58
I'm just I'm so excited that you're here
1:00
I mean literally when I read that you
1:02
have done over 200 live shows that's a
1:05
lot and even as we before we went on
1:07
today you were telling me you this you
1:09
had already done four shows or you this
1:11
was your fourth show I mean you are busy
1:13
guy this is my fourth shattered I enjoy
1:16
live video I enjoy talking to people
1:19
learning from people making contacts and
1:21
live videos the way to do that how to
1:24
date today's shows were political the
1:27
first one because we've got an election
1:28
in the UK and then the blubbing for
1:31
Britain show which has been running for
1:32
74 weeks consecutively with four people
1:35
and thence afternoon a delightful
1:38
discussion with a buyer who is based in
1:41
Pakistan so around the globe around the
1:44
globe and how fascinating because I mean
1:46
this truly is a definition of how the
1:49
world becomes very very small we are
1:51
talking to people from all around the
1:53
world as if they're just in our backyard
1:55
right oh that's right I mean the quality
1:58
of the video and the sound is such that
2:00
no matter where you are in the world if
2:02
you've got a good broadband connection
2:04
then you can talk and you can have shows
2:07
with people around the globe I mean you
2:09
and I are eight hours apart and yet
2:12
we're able to come together and talk
2:14
and this magical I just I really love
2:17
this and I kind of talked about you know
2:18
bringing the online offline and even
2:21
this I consider offline because we are
2:23
taking this relationship this
2:24
conversation this situation out of the
2:27
social media environment even though
2:29
it's playing live on Facebook but we are
2:31
having this conversation that others can
2:33
get involved with we have people that
2:34
have joined us if you have comments have
2:36
questions for Steven make sure you make
2:38
a comment down there we're going to put
2:40
it up on the screen and I know that
2:41
Steven will be delighted to answer those
2:43
questions so I'd like to start the show
2:45
with a definition of passion and
2:47
Webster's dictionary says that passion
2:49
is an intense driving or overmastering
2:51
feeling or conviction Steven how would
2:54
you define the word passion I would
2:59
agree with that but passion is when you
3:01
doing something that you don't notice
3:03
time passing you're enjoying it so much
3:05
that you get engrossed you're getting
3:07
grossed in what you're doing you lose
3:09
yourself the outside world the world of
3:12
video most keeps you in the world but
3:15
you are actually doing something which
3:18
is what we're all built to do which is
3:20
communicate with each other and we can
3:22
do that through live video so my passion
3:24
is live video and I say thank you to
3:29
blob for bringing us all together all
3:31
those months ago because that's right
3:33
all began and now we've got be live TV
3:37
we've come a long way family you know
3:39
that we out when I'm a long way and
3:41
that's actually how you and I met was
3:43
through be live TV TV live TV we met in
3:46
the Beliebers group and you know we play
3:49
in the same the same arena so this show
3:51
is really all about you and we'd like
3:53
our viewers to get to know you and your
3:55
journey how did you get to where you are
3:58
today you can go as far back as you want
4:00
and tell us a little bit about your
4:02
journey and what you're doing today
4:04
right okay how far back I want to go I
4:08
goes back to being a unit count at the
4:11
age of 17 leaving school going to join
4:14
the accountancy practice until next 10
4:17
years or finish 10 years I was an
4:22
in practice in businesses then I went on
4:26
to to actually help run a television
4:30
rental company and then I discovered
4:32
computers and this was the time of the
4:36
Apple 2e we're going back and yeah the
4:41
Apple yep the Apple 2e followed by this
4:45
series followed by the IBM machine and
4:47
PCs and then Windows camera long wait
4:50
and that's when I started to write
4:53
software and I wrote software for local
4:56
businesses and it used to be hunkered in
4:59
those days you'd write in basic and I
5:01
really enjoyed it and then along came a
5:04
product called Borland Delfy which is
5:09
for those who have not initiated is
5:12
Pascal and it's a visual way of
5:14
designing software and I learned how to
5:18
use that and I develop software 20 years
5:21
ago which is still running today and
5:24
obviously it's been updated but it's for
5:27
manufacturing and distribution so if you
5:30
think of manufacturing where raw
5:32
materials come in and finish goods go
5:34
out and software codes with all of that
5:36
and all the quality certificate you need
5:38
in between so you've got the raw
5:40
materials coming in they go through a
5:41
series of processes they're tracked at
5:43
the end of that they're invoiced and
5:45
delivered to the customer that's what
5:47
the system does and it does it gained
5:48
out and that's where I came from us
5:51
counting then software and then 20
5:55
months ago blab came along and I was
5:58
blown away I found something I was
6:00
watching the show by philistine who's
6:02
based in the UK down in Cornwall and I
6:06
was coming towards the end of his show
6:09
on blab and he said does anybody want to
6:10
join me well I was hiding I was a little
6:13
late except I was sat in the corner and
6:16
I thought before I knew it I was on
6:18
camera and I was just there as a guest I
6:20
was chatting and talking away I thought
6:23
I like this this is just brilliant I
6:26
mean we've been through logging we've
6:29
been through Twitter we've been through
6:33
now we've got live video I thought this
6:37
is mine and so we start our own Chandler
6:40
John Upton and I was called bluffing
6:42
fibrin which I've mentioned earlier and
6:44
then Bob Tomlin has become a very good
6:48
friend and his show on slab which my
6:52
eyes I think this back in December 2015
6:56
yeah and I thought this could be this is
6:59
going to be big and it's that that stage
7:03
I started to take it seriously
7:05
so that's my journey so you know let's
7:08
talk about why video because I'm in 100%
7:11
agreement with you I think why video is
7:13
where it's at it brings your audience in
7:15
to you and it brings you bus out to our
7:18
audience in these platforms that we have
7:20
today you know when people ask the
7:22
question so so how do you record live
7:24
video and what platforms you suggest we
7:26
were talking about this earlier that
7:27
we're do you want me to start and how
7:29
long is the list so I'm not going to ask
7:32
you that question I know that you have a
7:33
lot of favorites that you use be live TV
7:35
live TV is one of them what do you think
7:37
is about the whole live concept of being
7:40
live I mean I know it's about
7:42
integration and interaction and getting
7:44
our guests involved why do you think the
7:46
life this whole wide video is is
7:48
exploding as we watch right now I think
7:52
the key to it is people can get involved
7:54
I mean we've all got a story and you can
7:57
come onto live video you can tell your
7:59
story and you can tell it's what your
8:02
friends and then friends of friends and
8:03
you can get them involved and they
8:05
become part of the story that's the key
8:07
Denver is watching now if you've got any
8:10
comments or questions and Karen I'm
8:12
willing to take them absolutely can take
8:15
the house pass their guests I'm sorry
8:16
Oh put them down there because we'll see
8:21
them and I'll pop them up on the screen
8:22
yeah I mean the key is that it is
8:25
involvement and getting to know people
8:27
and that's that's the key to it I think
8:31
and live video we're just at the
8:34
beginning now we're pioneers we're
8:36
putting we're actually using beta
8:38
software with learning we're improving
8:40
and it's a great time to actually be
8:43
involved because all the software that
8:45
we're using we're using today
8:47
we use most days is actually free and
8:49
and the people are investing money for
8:52
us to use the software and that's a far
8:54
cry from where it came from
8:56
it is a far cry from where it came from
8:58
I remember back in the early 90s and I
8:59
was live streaming truly I believe it or
9:01
not I was back in the 90s and we were
9:03
bouncing off the big satellites and and
9:05
onto our big huge you know hard drives
9:07
and and it costs money it cost money to
9:10
do that and here we are now we just pick
9:12
up our phone or we get on our desktop oh
9:14
you're such a button and here we are
9:16
okay so one of the questions I'm asked
9:20
all the time am I too old to do this am
9:22
I just too old to do this and I say no
9:24
look at us here we are we're doing it it
9:27
was it's it delicious the great thing
9:30
about live video which I love is the
9:33
fact that there are no producers towards
9:37
age gender culture color religion they
9:42
all disappear I mean I watch in
9:45
amazement as Hindu Toxteth - Muslim
9:49
Muslim talks to Christian every single
9:52
day and the religion is there but it
9:54
connect as people so I don't think that
9:58
there are any racial barriers to it at
10:00
all and I don't think that age is a
10:02
barrier either because to my way of
10:05
thinking your is doing what you feel is
10:08
meant to them yeah no I agree
10:10
I agree I mean there's a lot of us who
10:13
we play in the social media environment
10:16
I mean we live on our social media I
10:19
would be one of those people and we see
10:22
a lot of things happening in social
10:23
media it's changing the way our world is
10:26
getting their news or their faith news
10:29
or whatever news they're getting but
10:30
that is how we consume our information
10:33
is changing because people put out all
10:36
this stuff out there and it's up to us
10:37
unfortunately and I say unfortunately
10:40
because who has the time to do the
10:42
research to actually figure out if what
10:44
we're reading is true or not I know what
10:47
your opinion on that is and how easy it
10:50
is for for the world to see something it
10:52
happened literally a second ago and how
10:54
is that affecting what's going on in the
10:56
world what do you think I think that
10:58
we've seen a sea change
11:00
and Twitter has led the way first of all
11:03
in text and now in video I that we've
11:06
got reporting being made by people who
11:10
are actually on the spot and it's
11:11
impossible for the news organizations to
11:14
have some respect endeavor generally
11:16
stationed in cities within countries but
11:19
then to reach local is impossible we've
11:22
now got local reports coming in from
11:26
around the globe so soon as something
11:28
happens faint on video and it's on
11:30
YouTube or it's on Facebook great on
11:32
Twitter and that means that we we are
11:36
part of a global change where we can get
11:38
to know what's going on around the world
11:40
in real time and again I comes back back
11:44
to the fact that it's free the other
11:46
thing is that this may change but there
11:50
are no controls over it right and I
11:53
think that is one thing that has to
11:54
happen there have to be some filters in
11:56
some way so that the things that
11:59
happened on Facebook recently don't
12:01
recur and Facebook take action about
12:03
that but I'm all in agreement with all
12:07
these changes taking place because it's
12:09
fascinating with the things that you can
12:11
learn through a live video or annulus
12:17
yeah and I'm in agreement with you as
12:19
well with with some cavities of don't
12:22
believe everything that you see out
12:24
yeah right and and even though who has
12:28
the time to do the research you have to
12:30
have the time to do the research so
12:31
something looks like it may be too good
12:33
to be true or to out there do your
12:37
homework go research it there's lots of
12:39
different ways to go research go
12:40
research it and be the voice of reason I
12:42
I totally agree because that there are
12:46
so many stories I mean especially if
12:48
we're now we're going to connect to
12:49
politics per se and you can you SEC so
12:53
subjective we're gonna get into but
12:55
there was so much reg news on both sides
12:58
of the pond during the elections that
13:01
you didn't know what to believe right
13:03
and it can come to a stage where if you
13:06
say it often enough then people will
13:08
believe it yeah and that's very
13:10
dangerous and that's something we've got
13:12
a guard against but to
13:14
the freedom to say we want in the West
13:16
is fantastic I don't want that to change
13:18
but as you say if you see a story and it
13:23
as you said check it out check it out
13:25
check solutely check it out so you'll do
13:29
a lot of shows you did four before you
13:31
came on with me you you do your own
13:32
shows you're guests on other people
13:34
shows what do you tell people and I'm
13:36
going to throw this back to the whole
13:37
passion thing that have maybe lost their
13:41
passion they don't even know what their
13:42
passion is anymore how do we how do we
13:46
help guide them as mentors maybe or
13:50
people that are here in front of
13:51
audiences all the time why do we tell
13:53
them how do we get them back on the path
13:55
of following their passion right I think
13:58
that's one of the things we can do is to
14:01
listen to people when people don't have
14:03
a passion is because they have something
14:05
that's blocking that question and one of
14:08
the ways to actually unblock is for
14:11
something to listen to you so if we can
14:14
ask not the questions and find the right
14:17
questions then we can get people to open
14:19
up and once people open up and you
14:22
listen to them you find out what they
14:25
are really interesting what they want to
14:27
do then you can help them go in the
14:31
right direction but if we all our own
14:34
passions sometimes we lose it but if by
14:37
talking to people you can actually get
14:38
it back again well it's about it's about
14:40
listening I mean it goes true of the
14:43
video world that I watch as much videos
14:47
as I create in fact more and by doing
14:51
that I'm listening to people and
14:52
watching people and if I see somebody
14:55
who just needs a little extra help or
15:00
push then I'll get involved and you know
15:04
move from there I mean we can all help
15:06
each other every day right and I the
15:08
word with and the word listen is so
15:10
important I really do think listen is
15:12
the key because I don't I don't know how
15:15
many conversations you get involved when
15:17
where you literally see their head
15:19
thinking as you're talking because
15:21
they're not listening to you they're
15:22
already thinking about how they're going
15:23
to respond to you oh yeah
15:25
ah true that's very true
15:28
yeah absolutely so you're doing these
15:31
shows and I know you have a YouTube
15:32
channel and I'm going to put up how they
15:34
can search for you there if you go into
15:36
YouTube you can search for be live TV
15:38
and Steven and you can see all of these
15:40
shows that Steven is doing after the
15:43
fact as well I know you put them up over
15:44
there as well as you do your show live
15:47
on on Facebook and I'm going to put that
15:51
out there as well it says facebook.com
15:54
forward slash Steven on live video
15:58
that's easy to remember check that out
16:03
as well I'm all about quotes so I'm
16:06
going to share a quote that I really
16:08
like every day I look for something that
16:10
will guide me through the day and today
16:13
this particular quote and it's anonymous
16:15
I don't know who wrote it I searched for
16:16
it but here's the quote purposes the
16:18
reason you journey passion is the fire
16:21
that lights your way what do you think
16:24
about that you agree I agree I agree
16:26
that's a good one too to guide by and to
16:31
do you have any clothes do you have any
16:33
quotes that you like a spacious no I
16:40
don't have it I don't have any clothes
16:43
well if I was able to answer all the
16:46
questions and then yeah exactly what I
16:50
was going to say is that you Steven
16:51
you're too busy to have quotes you're
16:53
you're so busy you know online and doing
16:55
during your interviews so okay so this
16:58
is this is one of these these quotes
17:00
these questions that I like to ask and
17:02
it may sound silly but I get some
17:03
amazing answers I if you could spread
17:06
passion dust anywhere around the world
17:08
on anyone what would you hope to
17:12
accomplish who would you spread the
17:13
passion just on it could be one or can
17:15
be many and what would be your intention
17:17
that that passion dust would provide
17:20
what pose does it have any powers you
17:23
want to have right okay the world's your
17:26
oyster you did right okay if in the two
17:29
particular areas I would like to spread
17:32
passion dust so that people
17:35
well the first area is North Korea
17:41
the situation is that they are
17:43
developing nuclear missiles or the
17:45
capability and I would like somebody who
17:49
has the passion dusts to be able to
17:52
bring that situation to a conclusion
17:55
peacefully so that there are no well
18:01
there are no military actions because at
18:04
the moment we've got a very dangerous
18:05
situation there and in the second
18:08
situation military situation would be in
18:11
Syria where again we actually have
18:15
another we sometimes we go in as
18:21
countries where angels fear to tread and
18:24
Syria is one of those cases this
18:26
situation that we helped create and we
18:28
should help solve it so I will go for
18:31
two global conflicts the one in North
18:33
Korea and the one in Syria and hope that
18:35
both end peacefully and soon I heartily
18:41
agree with that and we're going to put
18:43
it out with those intentions out there
18:44
into the world for anyone that can help
18:47
us get those passion dust little fairies
18:51
out there and make sure that we get some
18:52
movement on that because what you say is
18:54
so important if I'm not making light of
18:55
it in any way shape or form we live in a
18:57
very interesting and at some times very
19:00
scary world so thank you thank you for
19:02
sharing that for those of you who want
19:04
to get in touch with a Steven Healy you
19:07
can go to his website Steven J Healey
19:09
calm as I said you can check out his
19:11
videos over on YouTube search for B live
19:15
TV and then Steven and then check out
19:18
his Facebook page Steven on live video
19:21
just put down facebook.com or refresh
19:24
and then the rest of it and you're going
19:26
to find them there any last thoughts
19:28
that you would like to share with our
19:30
audience about live video about the
19:32
journey that you're on or just a message
19:34
to our viewers all right I think the
19:40
message that I'll send out is that live
