1:10
I'll make sure to comment right back to you hey Joey I'm gonna put you up on the spring for a second we have a guest already here
1:17
good to see you Joey alright so today we're going to be tackling the story
1:24
behind the miracle morning for couples we have three of the authors on today we
1:31
have Hal Elrod and he's the author of the highest one of the highest greatest books in the world the miracle morning
1:37
which has been translated into 27 languages and is practiced daily by over
1:43
500,000 people in more than 70 countries how I'm exhausted just saying that but
1:48
more power to you and then we have Landsman Brandi Salazar and they're on a mission to help couples reconnect with
1:55
each other and to stay deeply in love while raising their daughters and they took the best and most effective tools
2:01
used by successful businesses and health coaches and applied those concepts to
2:07
the marriages and together they created the miracle morning for couples and so
2:12
without further ado I'm gonna bring everybody into the show and here they are hey guys how you doing
2:18
today alright Karen thanks for having us thank you Karen good to be back so happy
2:24
to have you back hell you know that I'm a huge fan and and we're here to talk about this new book that just came out
2:31
gets a number one bestseller already I mean it's been out for one week number one bestseller we're going to talk about
2:36
that how exciting is that but the first question I want to ask is what is a super boomer now I talked about super
2:44
boomers as being fearless super boomers are not afraid to step into whatever
2:50
their next is they're fearless and they're not defined by age and we were talking before the show that you guys
2:55
are technically not super boomers but hey I'm gonna ask you anyways if you
3:01
work what what might you define a super
3:06
boomer as how why don't you go first well first of all Karen if you are what
3:11
a super boomer is I want to be a super boomer I think that's that's an easy one
3:17
no I love you I love your definition I love the the not being defined by age you know we have in the miracle morning
3:22
community the Facebook group that that the miracle morning practitioners kind
3:28
of collect and coordinate or I'm gonna loss for words today that they support
3:33
each other in that's a question that we often see oh I recently saw a a woman she said I and I think I think she was
3:39
only in her you know she was like 56 maybe 62 she said I'm you know I'm this age and I feel like a Mike it might
3:47
might my friends and my family they're they're they're saying you're what you know you're just trying to start over with this miracle morning routine like
3:53
aren't you you're too old for that kind of thing and she goes am I too old and she had hundreds of comments of people
4:01
saying girl I'm 72 and I just started the miracle morning I've been doing for three months and it's changed my life
4:06
and you know so again I wouldn't redefine what you and the way you define it which is just for all of us no matter
4:11
what our there's just no excuses right it's a no excuse of lifestyle you know to me that's it doesn't matter the there
4:17
is no thing as such thing is too young there is no such thing as too old and I think that for us to decide what we want
4:24
in our life for ourselves and and then just to decide that matter who we are where we are we all
4:30
have the same unlimited potential and ability to manifest and create everything that we want for our lives
4:36
absolutely I wish I had said that that is perfect that's perfect so I want to
4:42
bring on we've got we've got brandy and Lance here don't they aren't they adorable look they sit together there
4:48
they wrote the book together they make you termite so tell us a little bit
4:54
about what you think let's super glimmer is I would say a super boomer is no
5:00
limitations and it makes me think about when I started business I was in my
5:08
early 20s and I was surrounded in in commercial development with a lot of men
5:13
and a lot of older men and people asked me for years how hard was that
5:18
and the reality is is it wasn't hard at all because I just never take took note
5:24
of it ever since right just raise you you you know you have to if you don't give it any any
5:30
power it has no power and so for me it just was what it was and you know
5:35
another thing that I think of is two really great relationships in my life
5:41
are my daughters and some older mentor friends that I've had for many years and
5:48
really they both add the same value and same growth and and love to my life and so there really is age has no number
5:55
I agree age is an added two right Lance variant attitude absolutely you know
6:00
Karen I I kind of I would consider myself a super boomer I mean especially
6:05
when I think about my own personal growth journey which really started with the miracle morning I was in my 40s and
6:11
had a very fixed mindset thought that I'd learned everything I needed to learn in life you know and just gonna be on
6:16
cruise control but you know since developing that personal growth journey in my 40s I'm now happier more joyful
6:23
and we're excited for the next day than I ever was in my 20s and 30s so to me
6:29
that's what super boomer is it's continuous learning continuous growth and developing new joy no matter what
6:34
age you are I think we need to make you all honorary super boomers in take it I guess so I
6:43
mentioned at the beginning of the show that I wake up in a god-awful hour I get up at 3:30 in the morning I do and and
6:50
no matter how much I try to go back to sleep I don't and so I started my routine a long time ago with Hal's book
6:58
the miracle morning I literally started my routine because I could I was getting up and and what else you gonna do at
7:04
3:30 in the morning besides wonder what you're doing up at 3:30 in the morning and so I started the miracle morning and
7:11
Wow it was a game changer to me so you know I want to kind of like throw this
7:17
now back out to you guys so now there's a whole series of books called the miracle morning for this and that and
7:23
you know keeps on going and this is for couples so what sets this apart right
7:28
off the bat other than what the obvious is it's for couples what would you say is is the obvious thing that sets this
7:35
book apart from all the rest of the books I'll start with the answer on the you know one thing I get asked a lot by
7:42
foot whether I'm being interviewed or people joining our community is they'll say you know well what's the difference
7:47
between the miracle morning and the miracle morning for entrepreneurs or for couples or you know and which one should
7:53
I start with right what makes that you know is this just a rehash of the original book but you put
7:58
the word couples in instead of like you you and your significant other and and
8:04
the answer is no and the way and I'll tell you you know from a kind of behind-the-scenes standpoint that was a
8:09
real challenge in the beginning of developing the series is how do I make this so that if you've read the original miracle morning this is different enough
8:17
that you're gonna get a ton of new value but how do I incorporate enough of the miracle morning that if you have never
8:23
read the original you get enough to actually start doing the miracle morning right so it's a real like real art not a
8:30
science you know and and here that what we the the kind of a formula that we decided on is um I partner with someone
8:39
or to you know some ones who are an L yeah there you go you know I don't need to hold it up you got it on the screen
8:44
um but I've partnered with someone who's an expert in the field in the niche that we're going into right so
8:51
you know if it's entrepreneurs I partnered with Cameron Harold who is a you know world-class entrepreneur and trainer and fro entrepreneurs that sort
8:58
of thing and the first roughly twenty percent of the book twenty to thirty
9:03
percent of the book is basically the entire miracle morning concept basically it's the original book summarized in the
9:10
first three chapters but also customized for couples so it's so you know so it's
9:17
essentially if you've if you've read the original book it's a refresher like oh yeah oh this is good but you also are learning all the things
9:24
you learn in the original book but how to adapt it to a relationship you're going oh okay that's a girl ought it
9:31
that way that's great um and then the next 70% of the book is brandy and lance
9:37
and I mean and they literally wrote the majority of the book and this is so I partner with an expert in area well
9:43
brandy and Lance are personal friends of mine and they're one of the most evolved enlightened couples that I've ever met
9:49
and I'll let you tell you their story of how they got there they went you know how their message a success story and
9:54
they've got one of those success there
10:02
you go on right but uh but but yeah that's the idea is that this isn't just how to wake up early as a couple that's
10:10
the first three chapters the first 30% of the book and the next 70% of the book is how to create a legendary
10:16
relationship with your significant other whether you are married you are dating or you you know you're looking for a
10:23
relationship you don't have one now but you wanna you want to be as knowledgeable on how to create a thriving successful harmonious loving
10:30
relationship that's what this book will do for you so and having read it two times I get it and I let's I'm gonna
10:37
throw it over to Lance and brandy let's talk let's tell your story how did this all come about how did you guys and I
10:44
know the story so I want you to share it though with with the audience what's the story well there's two parts to it
10:49
really you know there's the part that you read about in the book about the near demise of our own relationship and
10:55
what's beautiful about writing this book with Hal is that a lot of our story of
11:00
the mess to success begins with the miracle morning as for me you know I was watching brandy
11:07
engage in house content and meeting Hal and and she was doing this morning routine and we weren't connected and you
11:14
know the short of it was that in a lot of ways I was depressed and I didn't like how our marriage was going and I
11:21
needed to start personal growth and so I started doing the miracle morning and that became a catalyst to me growing
11:30
into the person that I wanted to be and to kind of fast forward a bit you know
11:35
as brandy and I started to rekindle our relationship in our marriage we decided that there was value in us doing parts
11:42
of the miracle morning together and as we started doing things like we practiced with meditation together
11:47
little things so that were actually part of the sabres but then we're holding hands while holding hands and so were
11:52
like well this is really important that we're touching each other that we have this peace of touch or then we would
11:58
talk about things we were reading and we're like oh that that's you know educational we're teaching each other and and also part of our journey back to
12:05
each other had to do with gratitude you know making sure we were expressing gratitude with each other every single
12:11
day and so there's an appreciation component and then we always wanted to make sure we were either checking in
12:17
with our relationship or that we were just only yeah we knew we knew how each
12:22
other's day was going to be you know because partnership is really important in a relationship who's doing what where
12:27
are the kids going and all of that sort of stuff so the schedule and so we noticed that there was this component
12:33
that we were doing together that was you know we had the savers separately different right and then the together so
12:40
at the centerpiece of this book in our story is the miracle morning and so it
12:45
became so vital you know to do pizza together and I know that you guys you
12:52
asked yourself three questions you asked yourself what would an amazing marriage
12:57
look like for us you asked yourself what steps do we have to take to make this
13:03
vision a reality and finally what steps are we committed to make and and the book came came to be
13:10
because of that what I really loved about the book so the savers and we can talk about the savers quickly that it's
13:16
an acronym for the different things that you do but top of that this is what was fascinating to me and this is what sold me is you
13:22
have the team method and so I would like to chat about the team method because it
13:28
was it was that specifically that and you said that you do meditation together I we started doing yoga my husband and I
13:35
started doing yoga together as part of the exercise piece of this you know the
13:41
Sabres and so I you know and I'm putting in four guys if you want to do yoga you should go check out the super boomer
13:46
lifestyle show super boomer lifestyle come we have an amazing yoga mat but but
13:51
the idea behind this is that you had questions that you wanted to answer in order to move forward so let's talk a
13:57
little bit about that how does team of work so it's T EAM the acronym very
14:04
similar to the savers and T is for touch wear and it's can be really simple where
14:12
for us like we said we had started Y just putting our holding hands or I
14:18
would put my hand on his leg and the interesting thing for us with a lot of this is we would look back and say what
14:24
were some of the struggles that we had in our relationship and we would go many days without touching in the beginning
14:31
and then you know to be honest weeks and it went on for a long time where we
14:37
would barely even touch each other and so when we brought that back in we
14:43
realized how important it was for it to be something that was consistent that created a compound effective intimacy
14:49
for us and the second is appreciation no
14:58
yes he is education so in our miracle morning we either read or sometimes
15:04
we'll watch a YouTube video or a course yes while we're working out so will we
15:10
combine those a lot of times and so once we come together we'll share and educate each other but the other thing that we
15:17
talk about in the book is in the phase where you're getting to know each other
15:22
again or getting to know each other even deeper it's it's a nice time to be able to share things about yourself and get
15:29
to know each other what's a
15:37
yes so yeah a is appreciation and the
15:42
interesting thing about appreciation is we realized this one early on that there was a lot of finger-pointing in our
15:49
relationship and so we started this actually as a nighttime practice originally and so before we went to bed
15:56
at night we would do this and then the next one where we would say this is what
16:01
I appreciate about you today and that's simple it's just the last 24 hours is something that you appreciate about
16:09
each other and then yeah right you know I was just gonna say it's so
16:16
important that I think a lot of couples get stuck in you know if there there's some resentment or there there's
16:21
negative activity or challenges going on to get your mind your perspective around the gratitude you have in the
16:28
appreciation you have for your partner makes solving those differences so much
16:33
easier because you approach them with kindness you approach them with grace and you don't approach them with that
16:40
sort of negative sort of are they're irritating me right now we'll wait a second no I can feel into the pre
16:45
appreciation of them and suddenly those challenges are resolved much more easily
16:50
and you're all in the same page and you made deposits into the emotional bank right I love that deposits right and
16:58
yeah and it's interesting because if I think back when our relationship was at
17:03
its worst every day I could have found something that I appreciated truly liked
17:09
it if I just would have taken the time to say hey what it lanced you today that added value to our family or added value
17:16
right every single day even in the bad times I could have found something I just didn't have it as a practice and so
17:22
the last one is em meeting and this again was one of the first things that we incorporated when we were saving our
17:31
marriage and it was checking in with each other and just saying okay hey how did I do we made these commitments to
17:37
each other we've decided that you know we're moving forward with us how did I do how did it feel should have we tweak
17:42
it did it work did it not work and so we weren't waste our time on these things were it was
17:48
like let's implement this thing and then he's like oh I actually that didn't work
17:56
or vice-versa right or hey not only did that work but what if we added this and
18:02
so it gave us a consistent check-in to be able to quickly tweak you give that
18:09
example of like the missile you know oh yeah I you know I don't know how accurate this description really is but
18:15
I read or heard somewhere that you know when a rocket is launched ninety something percent of the time it's off
18:22
of its course it's not on target so it makes these constant little Corrections
18:27
throughout its course in order for it to be where it needs to go yeah and I think
18:32
about that in anything you know when if we don't check in and say hey how's this going and we keep doing the wrong things
18:39
we don't get the same sort of compound effect and momentum that we would if we would just stop and say hey how is this
18:45
going and should we tweak it just a little bit to actually be moving more in
18:51
the right direction than kind of in the right direction or quite frankly in the complete wrong direction and so the
18:57
meeting part first started is that when we moved it to the morning because that would just became the time we really
19:03
dedicated to each other we added in checking on our day and saying hey
19:08
what's going on today where are you going where am I going this is something that we need to make sure it gets added to the day or you know we messed up yeah
19:16
one big component of our philosophy is is partnership and that has a lot to do
19:22
with just making sure the exes you know the the t's across the I's are dotted you know the box are checked the boxes
19:28
are checked and so meeting can also evolve into that you know hey I've got this appointment today okay cool I've
19:34
got the kids there and so it allows us to be on the same page throughout the course of the day so there aren't these surprises like ooh I forgot to tell you
19:41
about that oh you know my bad right which this was the part for us that you know now we call it the partnership loop
19:47
but this is where we got stuck was it was all these little nitpicky things that could be easily resolved with clear
19:55
communication consistent communication and we just we weren't doing it for many years and it caused a
20:02
lot of problems for us I'm sure the people that are listening right now whether they're live or on replay
20:07
they're wondering okay I got to get this book I'm putting a link in the description and in the comments below as
20:12
well as in the description above where people can go pick up the book because
20:18
it is a game changer it is absolutely a game changer I'm just curious how did
20:23
you guys all meet how do how did you meet Lance and Brandi how did that all come about how did we meet her how did
20:29
we meet hell all three meet and get married together and for us was married
20:38
to us too yeah that's right we haven't we have a fourth wife or another wife not here but no we were in Brandon
20:45
correct me if I'm wrong you have a better memory than I do and you have a better memory of this but I believe it is on I was speaking at the one life
20:52
fully lived event right was that the first time that we met yeah yeah and Brandi was enamored with me I'm kidding
20:59
but uh no I invited her to my live event
21:09
that I was putting on it's called best year ever blueprint and she was not able to make it and so she sent Lance and
21:15
kicking and screaming no but but it wasn't it wasn't his thing like he wasn't someone with you know personal
21:21
development events this was like really kind of outside his comfort zone and I'll just tell you my my side of the
21:27
story of kind of how what was really amazing is um he recorded a testimonial
21:33
video for for you know for for us which I saw afterwards and it was my favorite
21:38
of any testimonial video and to kind of summarize and I'd love to hear Lance's side of the story because it's better
21:44
but but to summarize he essentially said um you know that I came to this event and I'm not just leaving with you know
21:51
how to have a better business but I feel like I'm a going home a better father and a better husband and a better human
21:57
you know and it was just it was very touching I mean it was like it was the best testimonial the best you know it
22:03
was from the heart and it was really neat to see no and I didn't know then right how he came to the event not you
22:08
know kind of little closed off and and so on and so forth but yeah I'd love to hear your guys's version of how we met and how we
22:15
all connected yeah no I think you kind of summed it up right there how I mean in my view of it all was how opened my
22:23
eyes and my heart became by going that was your very first event and it was absolutely magnificent I'd never been to
22:28
a personal growth event like that before and I remember being and I knew nobody not a single person there but you know
22:37
me trying to grow into the person that I wanted to become required me to get really uncomfortable and you guys you
22:44
know really did a great job making us especially people like me at the time very uncomfortable with shaking hands
22:50
meeting new people telling you know each other you know about ourselves and in a controlled comforting environment yeah
22:56
very much so it was very controlling I mean I look back on that with great memories it's so wonderful and I'm sure
23:02
how would be the first person to say that not all personal development events are created equal ago you know and so fortunately you went
23:11
to one of the best because you had a positive experience unfortunately there are a lot of people out there that call
23:17
themselves personal development gurus and they they preach a bunch of stuff so I know it's what a great opportunity
23:23
that you had a chance to merge and to meet and out of that comes this amazing
23:28
amazing book you know for those of you who want to get to connect with how a little bit more you can go to hell elrod
23:35
calm that is his website and you can also check out the Facebook a page that the miracle morning I know the group has
23:42
how many people in it right now holla means like hundred a hundred and ninety five thousand a hundred countries yeah
23:49
and and hell is in there that's what's so great about this how it is in there Honore is in there you guys comment and
23:56
you and you respond to the people that are in there so this is even though that there's a ton of people in there you
24:02
never feel like you get lost in the mix so kudos to you for doing that and then
24:07
I want to also send you to legendary couples calm that is Lanson Brandy's
24:13
website because they started as something before that and I we're going
24:18
to I want to have you explained that you downsize you went you you literally gave
24:23
up all that you knew and you went to a new environment we downsize right you went to a tiny house
24:29
or a little bit larger than a tiny call it we call it a tiny house it was tiny for us so you know I mean and it
24:36
it's beautiful thing and it was a it's been a great adventure it still is one of the best choices we ever made and I
24:43
know you homeschool your daughters and and you basically turned your life around you you showed up vulnerable I
24:51
want to thank you for being so vulnerable in your description as to how this all came down that's that's tough but I think that when we are vulnerable
24:57
we attract an audience that says hmm I want what they're having right they can
25:03
also join your Facebook group at legendary couples they can check that
25:08
out as well and they can get involved in that what what last thoughts would you like
25:15
our audience to know about this book and how they can get involved in doing the
25:22
miracle morning for couples yeah yes I'll start and let you guys finish I
25:28
saved the best for last so you know I think that this book what
25:33
I would want people to know is that um you know I I just I've learned in my
25:40
relationship with my wife you know we've been together for 14 years or 50 L or I
25:45
don't exactly know but it's like 14 or 15 is and married for nine or nine ish
25:53
but anyway so the now that I dug myself a hole I'll try to get out of it the but
26:01
what I have what I've learned is like our relationship right now is by far the best it's ever been and I would have
26:07
said that you know six months ago and I would have said that a year ago and I would have said like it just keeps
26:13
getting better and we've gone through we've had peaks and valleys we've had you know we've had we've had our screaming matches I'm sure you know we
26:19
all have on but what I've realized is that like I didn't know until I
26:25
connected with Brandi Lance until I learned the way they approach their relationship on the the level of
26:33
connection that's available and I'm still discovering like it's like I keep getting to know new layers of my why
26:40
Ursula and getting to know you know new new levels of connection and new levels
26:46
of love and new levels of vulnerability and like it's amazing and the more you start to see what's possible the more
26:54
you realize that there is still possible and so I think that book will do this for you so whether you're in a
27:00
relationship that is already great or you're in one that is you know on the brink of divorce as Brandi and Lance
27:06
were a few years ago I think this book really is universal for anybody that that wants to have a happy loving
27:12
harmonious connection with their partner I love it so this is something new for you - is this one of your favorites or
27:18
you know how to say I love that
27:31
Lance Brandie your thoughts yeah you know I think I like what House said about no matter what stage your
27:37
relationship is in that there's a lot of value to be obtained from this book I mean we actually really really really
27:44
proud of it I thought for a moment after we were done writing I was like I don't even see this going back through it I mean it's like
27:51
wow you know this is this is really important and what I love about the book
27:56
is that it really takes a very logical and step-by-step sort of manner you know
28:02
the how a lot of people will say well you need to be a great communicator in your relationship great how do I do that
28:08
right you know I mean there's practices in there okay great I you know so that's
28:14
what is I think really beautiful about the book is it's literally okay if you want to do this design this do this you
28:20
know that's what we've loved about the Sabres you know in the miracle morning it's like doing yeah I mean we give the
28:27
freedom we want the freedom for couples to design and envision and take action and make a plan on what they want and
28:34
what they desire but the steps in here are beautiful because they allow you to just insert your vision and take those
28:41
actions to get where you want to go your steps we give you steps the other thing that I would add is that this is
28:47
genuinely the book that I wish we had when we first started or that I wish
28:54
had when it got bad because at either point the steps are the same the same right you have to create it's like
29:01
anything it's like when we finally figured this out and had this major aha moment it was like okay brandy like what
29:07
did you do to be so successful in business well I created a business plan and I
29:12
committed to the steps and I made them happen and when it didn't work I changed it and then when again and it was right
29:18
it's just it's so simple and so you need to do that regardless of where you are
29:24
in your relationship bad good just starting you know wanting to fix it whatever it may be it's it's applicable
29:31
to every stage of a relationship if it's not something that you've done and most of us haven't applied we hadn't we
29:40
applied once we figured it out we applied these principles to go from mess to success as house that I love that but
29:47
we still do them today you know I mean we're constantly moving forward that's what's important about our marriage
29:53
together is that it's constantly moving forward and so everything you read in that book is what we still do now and we
30:00
will continue to do it's like a road map I look at look at this book as a road map of what to do and it's not it's not
30:08
so structured that you have to do a first and then B first and then say first it's not that kind of structure
30:14
but it definitely has a framework from which you can create this extraordinary
30:20
relationship in life when Sugaree yeah
30:25
well I want to thank you guys I know that you're incredibly busy you have a number one book out there right now

30:59
for the super boomer moment this is where I share with you something that just struck a chord during this whole
31:06
interview and you know in the beginning that I've been doing the miracle morning forever and it's part of my morning ritual and I was I'm
31:12
very excited to bring my husband into this if we started to do this and what I really love about the book is the team
31:19
method I mean all by itself it is phenomenal I mean you could just take that team method and just do that and
31:25
you would have really an incredible incredible journey of your new of your
31:31
relationship going forward but you take that team method and you layer it on top of savers and then you've got
31:38
game-changer because when you put the two of them together you exact you know what your roadmap is you know exactly
31:43
what you're supposed to do and I am forever grateful that I discovered this and I that's why I'm shouting it from
31:49
the rooftops it's why the minute this book came out I literally contacted how he knows that and I said I got to get
