where you're watching from we have a
0:15
great show for you today we are talking
0:18
about the about the human contract
0:21
foundation with the founder Maria
0:24
Dolores Maria is a Swedish human
0:26
resource expert humanitarian and
0:29
Leadership consultant in addition as a
0:31
security consultant she trains
0:33
management teams in crisis Management in
0:36
her profession working with life and
0:38
death Maria has insightful empathic and
0:42
Broad perspective so without further Ado
0:44
Maria welcome to the show how are you
0:47
thank you Karen thank you and thank you
0:50
for having me this is so wonderful to
0:52
see you again oh it's wonderful to see
0:54
you as well this is going to be a great
0:56
show
0:57
um yeah I think we just need to just
0:59
jump right in and talk about the human
1:01
contract yes what does that mean what
1:04
what the heck is a human contract
1:08
so the human contract the foundation the
1:10
human contract is about that we have
1:12
both human rights but we also have human
1:15
responsibilities
1:18
and so the foundation is based on seven
1:21
principles of human dignity
1:24
and and it derives actually directly
1:27
from United Nations Declaration of the
1:31
universal human rights okay but we also
1:34
have responsibilities and that's like
1:37
modern leaders we do have
1:39
responsibilities and I think in this day
1:41
and age if it hasn't if it isn't even
1:43
more
1:44
uh that we should be aware of that that
1:46
we have responsibilities I think we
1:48
definitely do so do you want let's talk
1:50
about the seven principles yeah of the
1:53
human contract so what's number one
1:54
number one is about the body so the
1:57
first three is actually personal and the
2:00
second three is interpersonal and the
2:03
last is collective so the first three
2:05
the body thought and emotion you have
2:09
the right to your body
2:12
you have a responsibility for your body
2:15
that's that's just how easy the human
2:18
contract is right and then the second
2:21
and the third is about our thoughts and
2:23
emotions that we have the right to our
2:26
thoughts
2:27
and we have a responsibility for our
2:29
thoughts and the same with emotions so
2:32
you know as humans
2:34
uh we we have we hate we love we feel
2:40
sadness we feel grief we have crazy
2:43
thoughts we have we have the same
2:45
thoughts going over and over
2:48
um and we have the right to Being Human
2:53
but we also have a responsibility and
2:56
most and foremost to ourselves
3:00
and so it's it's really about physical
3:04
and mental health
3:07
that's and that is probably what it's
3:10
all about right I mean that is yeah and
3:13
then the coming three principles is
3:16
interpersonal it's about how we
3:18
communicate it's a move and it's about
3:20
life so you have the freedom of
3:24
expression we have we have the freedom
3:27
of creativity and how we express what we
3:30
create as humans we always have and we
3:33
always have we will have
3:36
but we also have a responsibility in our
3:39
communication and our expression and
3:42
that is
3:43
uh it for me it comes back to a dignity
3:49
for us um for us who's working with the
3:52
foundation to communicate more about how
3:57
can we express how can we create with
4:00
more matureness
4:02
how we can how can we create with more
4:05
dignity and more mutual respect and you
4:08
know from time to time living and just
4:10
being uh you know there are so many
4:14
platforms out there
4:16
So eventually you know we we bump into
4:19
you know we say we miss
4:22
uh speak or or we we create things that
4:27
are really really offensive to a lot of
4:29
people and
4:31
when we can acknowledge this and say you
4:34
know I'm sorry or you know that was what
4:39
and and to express what was actually Our
4:42
intention what what did we really want
4:45
to say you say that that is part of our
4:47
responsibility as being human yeah yeah
4:51
so that's the fourth principle it's
4:54
about communication and the fifth
4:57
principle is about Movement
4:59
we as a Humanity we've been on this
5:02
planet for more than 300 000 years and
5:05
we we've been on in the deepest sea and
5:09
up on the highest mountain and even up
5:11
in space so we have the freedom of
5:14
movements as humans but we also have a
5:16
responsibility in our movement and that
5:20
is both
5:21
respecting other cultures respecting
5:24
laws respecting other life
5:28
in our movement and with life comes to
5:32
the sixth principle that we have you
5:36
have the right to your life
5:38
right you have the right to live with
5:41
whomever wherever and however you like
5:44
but not at the cost of any other right
5:50
and
5:51
so if for instance so we're making a
5:56
film in Uganda talking about forced
5:58
marriages that is one way to communicate
6:01
with the human contract
6:04
um
6:05
and uh
6:07
I'm curious why did you why I mean you
6:11
have such a varied past and you've done
6:13
so many things what made you decide to
6:16
go in this Direction I mean this is this
6:19
is monumental
6:21
yeah
6:22
um just uh so the the seventh principle
6:25
okay
6:28
so the last the seventh so the first
6:30
three is personal right and then the
6:33
second three is interpersonal and then
6:37
the last is the collective and the
6:39
collective uh rights and
6:41
responsibilities is about it's basically
6:44
what you in English call moral courage
6:47
or civil courage we could also say in
6:50
Swedish civil crush and that is
6:55
you know when when we as a Humanity when
6:59
we collectively step up right we really
7:03
matter yes we can really make an impact
7:06
I'm thinking like just one example like
7:09
the Berlin Wall
7:11
and you know people just came together
7:13
and say no we're not having it anymore
7:15
and how we collectively can make a big
7:19
change uh we have so much Devastation we
7:23
have corruption we have
7:26
um
7:29
would you say it's more like a
7:30
Grassroots kind of thing then it's a
7:32
collective when we when I think gra when
7:34
I think Collective that we as a
7:36
community as a group of people can make
7:38
change here in the states we kind of at
7:41
least I think about that Grassroots
7:43
thing meaning that people come together
7:45
and they it's like a swelling of of
7:47
humanity is that so am I making that too
7:52
you know simplified or is it kind of
7:54
people coming together in humanity it is
7:56
it is so the human contract is not a uh
8:00
it's as you understand it's not a legal
8:02
contract it's for each human to step up
8:07
and say yeah I I will
8:10
I will
8:13
do my part and this is about my physical
8:17
my mental health this is about how I
8:20
communicate this is about how I move in
8:23
the society or how I connect with other
8:25
people and this is how and that I
8:29
together in this together in the society
8:32
we do have a collective responsibility
8:37
um so it I would say the human contract
8:41
is like leadership for for Citizens I
8:45
love that I love that and I love the
8:47
fact that um it's the foundation of the
8:50
human contract Foundation
8:52
um is based on the United Nations
8:54
Declaration of universal human rights so
8:56
I go back to the question where I
8:57
interrupted you and I apologize what
9:00
made you decide to go in this direction
9:03
and start a foundation for you know of
9:05
all things why did you decide to do this
9:07
obviously it's important to you and
9:09
important to the world obviously but why
9:11
why did you decide to do this
9:19
there are so many facets of course of
9:23
this and so one one is that I've done my
9:28
20 000 hours on
9:30
uh just self-development thinking and uh
9:35
this is what it's
9:37
crystaled out to be
9:41
um part of part of this was also
9:46
um
9:48
in in
9:49
2013 I divorced my husband
9:54
and his grief
9:57
his grave came out in a very destructive
9:59
way and he followed me and it was a very
10:06
fearful time in my life
10:09
during this time he developed a brain
10:12
tumor and he died of this brain tumor in
10:17
2015.
10:19
and uh
10:22
then I wrote I wrote the book about a
10:27
state of grace human rights and human
10:30
obligations yeah that's the book it's uh
10:33
currently uh that the content is
10:36
currently in Swedish so we are looking
10:38
into
10:40
Translating that but it's about that we
10:44
both have rights and responsibilities so
10:46
I give my ex-husband the right you know
10:48
to hate me but we also have a
10:51
responsibility in uh with our emotions
10:55
and how we express
10:58
um
10:59
and in the book I I talk both on
11:04
individual level and group and
11:08
organization which is also what I did
11:10
when I worked with the human resources
11:14
um both on individual and groups and and
11:18
organizations and and then this is just
11:21
leveling up about societies
11:26
um
11:26
many books has inspired me and and I
11:31
clearly see how we we as a Humanity we
11:35
are standing
11:36
and
11:39
if we look back in our 300 000 year
11:43
history
11:44
uh for each shift that we have made in
11:48
our history we have always had
11:51
technology supporting and driving us to
11:54
the next level right so the way I see it
11:58
now is that we we are standing very
12:05
deep some Nations more than others we're
12:09
stepping deep in in the nation-centric
12:11
thinking
12:13
and because we have the justice system
12:16
and we have the political system and and
12:19
we used to also have the the media what
12:22
we refer to as the third state power
12:26
um and these three powers together that
12:30
were built hundreds of years ago and
12:34
they
12:36
they support us they have been
12:38
supporting us in the nation-centric
12:41
thinking and now we have technology
12:43
supporting and driving us to to the next
12:46
level so what is the next level it's
12:50
and I see that it it's a global local
12:55
world that we need to create so it's
12:58
it's like it's going both globally
13:01
because
13:03
um technology is supporting and driving
13:06
us to a global world but it also needs
13:09
to be locally anchored
13:13
um so it what we
13:17
are creating a need to create is a
13:20
global local World
13:22
um
13:24
and so the human contract is a way to
13:28
navigate through this and just with the
13:33
very very thin
13:35
framework what you heard about our
13:37
rights and responsibilities but the the
13:40
framework is also a process because we
13:45
are humans so we develop we develop in
13:48
our emotions we develop in our thoughts
13:51
and we develop in our interaction and
13:54
understanding for each other
13:57
so it's both a framework and but also
14:01
acknowledging the human process to
14:03
mature to mature as humans now you have
14:07
a book coming out on this called the
14:09
human contract right it's coming out
14:11
towards the end of the year and what
14:13
will people expect to see in this book
14:15
or read in this book
14:18
so I will talk about uh it I basically
14:23
deepen the reasoning behind the human
14:26
contract and the seven principles uh
14:29
it's based on my previous book a state
14:34
of grace right and the the
14:37
phrase a state of grace for me is about
14:41
that when you are in a state of grace
14:43
and I am in a state of grace that is how
14:46
we create the state of grace
14:50
so peace in the world starts from within
14:54
it's beautiful
14:55
you know when I hear you even say that I
14:57
just want I go ah
14:59
that's nice that that's really nice now
15:02
you talk about fear and growth and the
15:05
istama concept so yeah what is that what
15:08
is an istama good yeah istema it it's a
15:13
fictive word that
15:15
um
15:16
soon we'll be
15:18
something you can look up we'll have I
15:22
have a an article coming up and uh
15:26
more reasoning but so istama is when
15:30
when we're going from one
15:33
level of Consciousness you can call it
15:36
and then we shift or if we go from one
15:40
perspective and when we're broadening
15:42
perspectives
15:44
uh we usually don't go from you know
15:47
from a uh from one set of perspective
15:51
and just broadening it we're going
15:53
and through a process and the process is
15:57
usually going through grief anger fear
16:00
frustration and and then we come to the
16:05
breaking point and then then we're
16:08
broadening perspectives
16:10
I saw this pattern and this is istama
16:13
and I saw this pattern both working with
16:16
them
16:17
uh grief grief recovery
16:21
uh I I saw it in all kinds of personal
16:25
development
16:26
in uh
16:28
like I gave example with the divorce
16:31
with my husband
16:33
um in but also when I was working with
16:36
organizations and as a security
16:40
consultant same process it's about you
16:43
know quality and something needs to
16:48
happen usually right and then and then
16:52
we we improved then we shift then we
16:55
mature
16:57
and I see the same thing also in
17:01
our human history
17:03
that we we have come
17:06
from our human history with 300 000
17:09
years and each shift has cost
17:14
both you know
17:16
disturbance turbulence and and then we
17:19
are
17:21
changing perspectives
17:23
broadening perspectives maturing as a
17:27
Humanity so the the istama that we are
17:31
collectively standing
17:33
and in in this process right now is um
17:38
is the shooting of going from a
17:42
nation-centric world and nation-centric
17:44
thinking
17:45
and to a global local world
17:49
and that's also why I made this
17:51
Foundation because uh it it's not it's
17:55
not about me and I love my team but you
18:00
know it's not about us it's not about
18:02
just this generation it's a it's for the
18:06
coming Generations
18:07
and to communicate about
18:12
that we do have rights but we also have
18:14
responsibilities
18:16
can people join this Foundation can
18:18
people join you in your mission and how
18:20
would they do that would they go to your
18:22
website yes yes definitely go to the
18:26
website and look at what projects we're
18:28
having
18:29
and it will also be someone we are
18:34
looking for seed money and support in
18:38
that sense so if they want to check out
18:42
my LinkedIn and take contact then I can
18:46
talk more about the foundation and in
18:50
what way you can help
18:52
and the foundation is is not only
18:55
uh you know it's it's how we communicate
18:58
so I have a wonderful team of producers
19:02
and so I mentioned uh our Ugandan team
19:05
they are making a movie about forced
19:08
marriages
19:09
uh but we also have a Sheila she's our
19:14
TV show host she's uh our Oprah Winfrey
19:17
from Ireland I love it yeah she is
19:21
wonderful and so she will be
19:23
interviewing a-listers and to talk about
19:26
the human contract
19:27
and how we
19:30
and what they think about you know their
19:33
rights and responsibilities and and
19:34
their their taken and examples
19:38
on uh as I listened to you Maria and I
19:42
as I listen to you you know in you're
19:44
going to be interviewing other people
19:46
your producers doing this you're making
19:48
such a great impact in our world and I
19:51
know it's just the beginning and I think
19:53
that's what's exciting to me as I as I
19:55
watch you at uh certainly is you're not
19:57
at the 100 beginning I mean you've been
19:59
doing this for a while but
20:01
it's starting to take on a life of its
20:03
own and I'm very very excited for you
20:06
you're doing good stuff and I think more
20:08
and more people need to hear about this
20:09
which is why I thought it was so
20:11
important to have you on the show to
20:13
talk about this because again I said at
20:15
the very beginning we live in a world
20:16
where I think a lot of us have forgotten
20:19
our human responsibility to be nice to
20:22
be kind just to be rather than to react
20:26
inappropriately at least that's my
20:28
opinion to stuff that's out there so
20:31
kudos to you an Applause to you what is
20:34
it that you hope at the end of the day I
20:36
mean can you for can you look in 10
20:38
years from now or even a year from now
20:39
where do you hope to be in this journey
20:42
of the human contract
20:46
um
20:48
there are four in 10 years from now
20:51
that's a good question
20:54
um
20:55
I see that the human contract we will
20:58
have four pillars and one pillar is
21:02
where we're starting the media
21:05
a media
21:07
organization
21:08
and with the help of many different
21:12
producers to to communicate about the
21:16
human contract that's that's one thing
21:18
and then the second is to have a boat
21:23
and cruises to talk about the human
21:26
contract and a wellness Cruise oh my God
21:29
that sounds like so much fun
21:31
and then the the third is a world of
21:35
Wellness houses because I really believe
21:38
that the human contract should not be
21:40
just you know a thought or some
21:45
fluffy or also but inspirational thought
21:51
but also it needs to be
21:54
you know on the ground close to everyone
21:57
and so while the wellness houses
22:00
uh to be built and in different sections
22:04
in different levels where you have a
22:07
physical health physical
22:10
you know food food court and like a
22:13
Galleria and a mental help or or help
22:18
with um
22:19
uh relationships and then also
22:23
organizations that are collaborating for
22:26
a better
22:27
Global local World
22:31
um wow and the fourth pillar will be uh
22:35
networking and uniting the good forces
22:38
because there are so many great
22:42
organizations that already are working
22:45
you know with what we are talking about
22:48
but they have their special take or
22:50
segment
22:51
like uh Wildlife organizations that
22:57
would be within the realm of the sixth
22:59
and the seventh principle uh or you know
23:03
uh health organizations or mental health
23:07
organizations or
23:10
um and how we you know reporters or
23:14
journalists Without Borders right right
23:17
that would be the the fourth principle
23:20
so there are thousands maybe millions of
23:24
organizations the good forces in the
23:26
world that already are working but it to
23:31
support each other in what we're doing
23:34
working for a better world right that's
23:37
what I believe in so the four pillar
23:39
would be both the media organization
23:42
like cruises and buildings and also
23:48
uniting the good forces together
23:52
you are doing good work Maria I am so
23:55
honored to call you a friend at this
23:57
