0:26
make responses to it as i get off and
0:29
also if you want to make some comments
0:32
and I will be happy to put them right
0:34
here on the big screen alrighty guys
0:37
hello everyone my name is Karen glasser
0:40
and imagine this four thousand eyeballs
0:44
staring at you on stage four thousand
0:46
right and here you are talking about
0:49
truth and authenticity and being the
0:51
real you and you realize that what you
0:55
look like it's not who you really are
0:58
does that resonate with you I just
1:02
turned 60 a month ago and I have a
1:06
confession to make I'm white well
1:10
actually my hair is white I'm a hundred
1:13
percent white my mom turned white when
1:16
she was 30 years old her hair just went
1:18
white and I said to myself oh my gosh is
1:21
that what's going to happen to me and
1:22
sure enough when I turned 30 my hair
1:24
started to turn white and you know I had
1:27
a decision to make at that point do I
1:29
want to be young because that's the
1:31
mindset right the mindset is a young
1:33
person does not have white hair now
1:36
what's funny about that in this day and
1:38
age there are a lot of young people are
1:40
actually kering our silver and white
1:42
because it's it's the trend it's cool
1:44
but back in the day you did not have
1:46
white hair in fact if you had white hair
1:48
that meant that you were aging and I
1:51
didn't want to do that now on my journey
1:53
I'm really really really fortunate
1:56
because my hair grows really fast that's
1:58
actually the bad news own because guess
2:00
what I was it like her dresser every
2:02
three weeks I would sit with my
2:03
hairdresser for an hour and a half and I
2:04
love my hairdresser Randy if you're out
2:06
there watching you or awesome she's
2:08
awesome but every three weeks I would go
2:10
in there and I'd sit there for an hour
2:12
last time for that but again the mindset
2:15
was I had to turn myself young again
2:18
right by making my hair of color that I
2:22
you know recognized as being young so as
2:26
the years went by I became really
2:29
visible and I don't mean just being on
2:31
stage or with my congregation when I was
2:34
a curvy woman in front of lots of people
2:36
I mean like on the big screen kind of
2:38
visible and then I started doing my web
2:40
TV shows and I was being seen all around
2:43
the world and people are me and that's
2:45
one of the things that I discovered is
2:47
is that people have no worries at all to
2:51
look at you and say oh my god you have
2:52
white hair or you have gray hair what's
2:54
wrong with you you're aging wrinkles
2:56
then I don't think and and if you want
2:59
to kind of join in here and tell me the
3:02
men they're here Darrell maybe you want
3:03
to say something but men don't generally
3:06
have someone say oh you know your hair
3:07
is white for your hair is gray or you
3:09
have wrinkles or you're getting old in
3:10
fact we think that meddlin gray-haired
3:13
kind of distinguishable right so I was
3:17
really in a dilemma what do I do well I
3:19
I decided to do what I had always done
3:21
continue to color my hair every three
3:24
weeks i would plan my events around when
3:27
i would get my hair color really i mean
3:28
that's that's kind of bizarre actually
3:31
because i wanted to make sure that I
3:33
could still see that young woman in the
3:35
mirror with the dark brown hair the way
3:37
I was born and look at who I'm sitting
3:39
right now you can see this is my real
3:41
color and I'm coming out loud and strong
3:44
because I want to embrace this at one
3:46
embracing ryan when I turn 60 I decided
3:51
it was time to do it it was trying to
3:53
take that next step and trying to show
3:55
up as who I really was and I'd like to
3:58
invite you to join me on this journey as
4:00
well and I know it's not going to be
4:03
easy and this is not something that
4:05
happens overnight except with me with my
4:06
hair growing as fast my guess is even
4:08
though this is only about two months
4:10
growth I'm already about three inches in
4:11
my wife this is gonna take a little bit
4:14
of time and I'm gonna have to make
4:16
decisions on you know if I have an event
4:18
coming up how am I gonna put a hat on or
4:20
or what am I going to look like what
4:23
I gonna wear you know is this the right
4:25
time um you know so I'm getting a
4:29
message I'm going to make sure that you
4:32
can see me would you guys just let me
4:34
know that you can see me someone Mary i
4:36
see that you said you lost the live feed
4:38
i want to make sure that my feet is
4:39
still going it appears that it is so
4:44
Ellen I'm putting your comment up here
4:47
ellinger said hi Karen you look
4:49
fantastic wish I had the courage to do
4:51
the same you do have the courage outlet
4:54
and I'm going to invite you to come
4:55
along on this journey with me as I go to
4:58
my natural authentic so and I'm looking
5:02
at my notes because I want to make sure
5:03
that I don't forget something to share
5:05
with you you know one of the things a
5:07
lot of the things that run through my
5:08
mind let's say you know what made am I
5:11
going to wear what kind of colors did my
5:12
going to wear because my crowing send be
5:14
different laughter we're different flows
5:16
you know do I have to do something one
5:17
of my hat's going to look like do I need
5:19
different products from my hair but you
5:22
know what these are all really really
5:23
cool cool questions right because this
5:27
is a jury that we're going to go on and
5:28
I want you to come with me you can do
5:30
this too and one of the things that I
5:32
really want to suggest you is that maybe
5:34
your little white lie is not your hair
5:36
maybe your little white lie is you have
5:39
been wearing pull on makeup all over
5:42
your face forever and ever and ever and
5:44
you really have been covering that
5:46
interview you who you really are maybe
5:48
that's your little white lie you know I
5:50
used to wear high heels i used to work
5:52
heels it 45 inches high and anyone that
5:54
knows me Oh awesome Ellen I'm so glad
5:56
you're going to join us on this journey
5:58
ok I'll and I'm you got this work got
6:00
you on recording now you're going to
6:01
join you know and I used to wear these
6:03
five inch heels and I would say I'm
6:04
never gonna wear flats because that I'm
6:07
going to feel old when I do that guess
6:08
what I don't wear heels anymore I only
6:10
wear flats and for anyone that knows me
6:12
out there that knows me in my prior life
6:13
that was me my shoes were all about me
6:16
so that's the other thing you know your
6:18
little white line may not be your hair
6:20
your little white line may be something
6:22
else what are you telling yourself that
6:24
you think makes you feel younger right
6:27
or makes you feel in a certain way these
6:30
are all the little white lies so I want
6:34
you to join me over on my
6:36
