0:20

0:23

0:26
and author of genius and his friends
0:28
wendy ann marchini to the show
0:31
in 2016
0:33
wendy read a book that would change the
0:35
direction of her life it was called you
0:37
were born rich written by bob proctor
0:40
she started to ask herself what is life
0:42
really and who am i i know we've all had
0:45
those thoughts her genius book series
0:48
empowers children to understand thoughts
0:50
and experience joy and enthusiasm to
0:52
create a happy life welcome to the show
0:56
wendy
0:58
thank you karen it's great to be here i
1:01
am thrilled that you're here we were
1:02
just talking about time frames and
1:04
distances it's very early in the morning
1:06
for you right now so i am very
1:08
appreciative that you woke up very early
1:10
so you could be on the show
1:12
so today we're calling this show
1:15
unlocking your inner genius because
1:18
after all don't we all kind of want to
1:20
do that
1:21
i would like to start by asking you
1:23
tell us a little bit about yourself and
1:26
how you got here
1:28
well i started off life as a ballroom
1:31
dance teacher and an adjudicator i've
1:35
had various careers i've owned cafes of
1:38
course i'm a mum and now i'm an
1:40
entrepreneur
1:42
and
1:44
i had medical issues and i couldn't go
1:47
back to the job that i loved doing
1:50
so in the recuperation period i was
1:52
thinking oh well you know who am i what
1:54
am i doing here what am i meant to do
1:57
and at that time someone sent me a free
2:00
copy of bob proctor's book you asked
2:04
his his book uh you were born rich so i
2:07
wasn't an avid reader at that time but
2:09
something told me uh read the book so i
2:12
i did and i just got hooked on this
2:15
information
2:16
and over the years i've been involved in
2:18
a few multi-level marketing companies
2:21
and my coaches at that time would tell
2:23
me snippets of information but it wasn't
2:26
until i read the book that i was able to
2:28
join all those pieces together
2:30
and fully understand what it is about
2:34
personal development learning about the
2:35
mind and your thoughts and how to create
2:38
success in your life
2:40
so from that i signed up to do one of um
2:44
bob proctor institute
2:46
courses
2:47
and it was during those courses that i
2:50
went over to toronto to an event it was
2:53
a six day event
2:55
and
2:56
from that a lady stood up on stage her
2:58
name's peggy mccall and she said
3:00
everyone has a book in them and i
3:03
thought oh i've always wanted to write a
3:05
book but
3:06
you know grammar what english and
3:08
grammar wasn't my best subject at school
3:11
but no that that will never be
3:13
but i
3:15
over the course of one of the nights
3:16
attending attending the event i wrote a
3:19
couple of pages and i gave it to you and
3:21
i said well what do you think do you
3:23
think that i have have it in me to write
3:25
a book but she said i love it so i wrote
3:28
the first book about the event it was
3:30
like a diary entry of over the six days
3:33
and then after that a few friends of
3:36
mine attended some conferences down in
3:39
in sydney and when they came back i said
3:41
well how's it going how's the exercises
3:44
going oh no we're not doing it and i
3:46
thought hmm
3:48
so so often we attend these courses and
3:51
then we come back home and we don't
3:53
follow through when because we don't we
3:55
get all excited in these conferences
3:57
right yes yes i'm going to do this this
3:59
and this and then you get home and you
4:00
think oh i can't be bothered there's no
4:02
accountability to keep right
4:05
so then that's when i i wrote my second
4:07
book uh big girls pants which is all
4:09
about what do you do when you get home
4:11
how do you keep yourself motivated to
4:13
achieve the success in life
4:15
oh i love that
4:17
yes so the first the first book was how
4:19
to change your life in six days and then
4:21
followed up with big girls pants oh i
4:23
love that so you could technically say
4:25
that's when you started to write right
4:28
exactly right and that happened back in
4:30
2016 i released my first book in 2018
4:35
and followed it up at the same year with
4:37
the second book so we can thank peggy
4:39
mccall for all of that right
4:42
but more to the point she got you going
4:44
but it's a very good point what you say
4:46
so many of us go to these events we get
4:48
so excited and so rah-rah and ready to
4:51
go and do it and then we get home and
4:53
it's like either
4:54
we're not rah-rah anymore or we forgot
4:57
completely what it was that we're
4:58
supposed to do so kudos to peggy mccall
5:00
to get you going we give her a shout out
5:03
right now
5:05
um so let's talk about the journey so
5:07
now you have two you have these two
5:09
books these two things that you've
5:11
written why did you start
5:13
the whole genius series why was it
5:15
important for you to do this book and
5:18
books because there's nine of them
5:21
on genius
5:23
well i
5:25
i thought that at that point in time
5:28
there was a i was hearing on the news
5:30
and friends were talking to me about
5:32
children not coping and children
5:35
committing suicide
5:37
and that sort of struck something in me
5:39
i don't know what it was but i thought
5:41
oh that's just losing a child that's one
5:43
child too many yeah so that's when i
5:45
came up with the idea of taking this
5:48
information and putting in in a language
5:51
that children will understand
5:54
so i decided to develop some programs uh
5:58
which i started and that was for the
5:59
older children children up to 11 years
6:02
and then from 11 right up to 18 years
6:05
but then uh that was over a period of a
6:07
couple of years but then i wanted the
6:09
information to start off with because i
6:11
had these i had these create these
6:13
characters for the program but i wanted
6:15
the younger children to start their
6:18
parents to start reading and having this
6:20
material because as you know the younger
6:23
uh we are the more we're just like a
6:25
sponge we soak up all this information
6:28
right so that's when um i was over in
6:31
the uk visiting my relatives and i was
6:34
asking them about children's book what
6:36
did their grandchildren like to read and
6:38
what type type of books so then that's
6:41
how
6:42
the books in a rhyming sequence the idea
6:45
came to me so over the course of the
6:48
eight weeks i was visiting these books
6:50
just just came to me i was writing them
6:52
uh so the nine came out during those
6:55
eight weeks it was wait a second
6:57
you did nine books in eight weeks
7:01
yes i did nine rhyming books so
7:06
wait well you heard it here um
7:09
okay wow wow wow what was that like
7:11
spitting out nine books though i mean
7:13
that's that's a lot of
7:15
a lot of content but you were on a roll
7:17
right you were on a roll i was yes i was
7:19
on a roll so uh
7:21
most nights during the holidays it might
7:23
sound a bit silly but i was on holiday
7:25
so
7:26
you know i didn't have to get up at a
7:28
certain time but most of the time it was
7:29
about one in the morning i'd get an idea
7:32
okay and i just sit there and write the
7:35
hardest part was to to get the rhyming
7:38
sequence right so i i'd do a sentence
7:41
and i'd find a word and i'm thinking oh
7:43
okay uh i need a word that rhymes with
7:45
that how can i put that there so but it
7:47
was just it was just awesome it was
7:50
wonderful i just because i had these
7:52
characters i had the characters to work
7:55
for work with to try and and help me to
7:59
to write the books so yeah so you had
8:01
fun is what you're saying i threw up a
8:03
copy of the first book right on the
8:05
screen um genius asked who am i do you
8:08
have an illustrator for the book or did
8:09
you do it yourself
8:11
i originally did the drawings myself i
8:14
love to draw i've i've not been trained
8:16
at all but then i sent them off to
8:18
someone just to make them a little bit
8:20
better because i'm i'm just an amateur
8:22
so yes well you did great you did
8:25
absolutely great um if we're if you're
8:27
just tuning in right now we are talking
8:28
with wendy marchini the author of the
8:30
genius book
8:31
series so you have these nine books
8:34
let's talk about the different topics
8:36
that each nine books handle
8:38
book number one book number one now
8:41
genius here's our fun fun character and
8:44
he represents the mind
8:46
so in in this book where we're saying we
8:50
know we're saying to the children that
8:52
you have something special you you have
8:55
these senses that's good but you also
8:58
have something special that all other
9:00
creatures on this planet don't have and
9:03
that is you have a mind and you use your
9:06
mind to think
9:08
and that's how the
9:10
the the first couple of lines came out
9:13
because i can think the way i think is
9:16
not the same as what my friend thinks or
9:19
my family members members think so
9:21
that's how it came about i am unique as
9:24
you can see there is no one else in the
9:26
world like me
9:29
i love that okay so book number two
9:33
book number two our lovely dream builder
9:37
now dream builder is here to help the
9:39
children understand imagination so why
9:42
do we need to use our imagination well
9:46
if if you see around you everything in
9:48
this world is first built in the
9:51
imagination and then it is created so
9:54
the imagination is very important tool
9:57
uh to have because as you know with
10:00
when you have a young child you can sit
10:02
them on the floor with some pots and
10:04
pans
10:05
and they will just make up lots of
10:07
things that's using their imagination
10:09
but somehow as we get older we seem to
10:12
lose that ability so that's how i wanted
10:15
to get the children to imagine so dream
10:18
builder helps them imagine their dreams
10:21
and he helps them to build their dreams
10:23
and where do you go with book number
10:25
three
10:27
intuition interceptor now intuition is
10:31
all about your feelings and your
10:34
vibrations and your emotions so it is
10:37
important to understand that yes
10:40
sometimes we're happy sometimes we're
10:43
not so happy but that's okay because
10:46
your intuition interceptor can help you
10:49
change those thoughts around
10:51
so you can be happy
10:54
so we're on book number four now right
10:57
we're a book number four yes
11:00
photographer
11:02
he is a determined little fellow so what
11:04
he does he helps you to achieve that
11:07
goal so you've got you've imagined your
11:09
goal you imagine something that you want
11:11
to do so what uh persistent photographer
11:14
does he holds up that picture and like a
11:17
laser beam he focuses on that picture
11:19
and helps you to be determined and keep
11:21
trying and trying until you've achieved
11:24
that thing that that's something that
11:25
you want to achieve
11:28
so book number five and i want to point
11:29
out i actually want to ask a question do
11:31
people need to read the stories in order
11:34
or they can be done in any particular
11:36
order do they build on each other
11:39
you can uh ideally to start off with
11:41
genius uh because uh there are companion
11:45
videos in the book series so you
11:48
download the app and that's genius in
11:50
his friends app and you hover over the
11:52
page and then this video comes out so
11:55
ideally start it doesn't matter but
11:58
ideally learn about genius first and
12:00
then it doesn't matter what order for
12:02
the rest of the books
12:04
all right so we're now going to move on
12:05
to book number
12:07
five
12:08
book number five oh i love i love memory
12:11
minder she's a bit like your librarian
12:14
she's absolutely lovely and she's in
12:16
charge she she helps you with all your
12:18
memories and when you you have lots of
12:21
memories you have
12:23
past memories you have present memories
12:26
and you have future memories and i let
12:28
the children know that you have memories
12:30
from the day you're born till the day
12:33
that you pass pass away so that's a lot
12:36
of memories that she's in charge of
12:38
and also memories can help keep you safe
12:41
for example if your mum says to you
12:44
don't run across the grass without shoes
12:47
you might get stung by a bee and guess
12:49
what you ran across the grass and you
12:51
got stung by a bee so the next time you
12:53
go to run across that grass you will
12:55
remember oh mum said this so yes
12:58
memories are wonderful and we all have
13:01
perfect memories we do we do but
13:03
sometimes we just don't remember them
13:08
so the next book in the series what is
13:09
that topic
13:11
that is reason bots now this is an
13:15
important skill that we need to learn to
13:17
make decisions very important to make
13:20
decisions now uh when we get up in the
13:23
morning some decisions we just do
13:25
without even thinking about it we we go
13:27
we clean our teeth we brush our hair we
13:29
go and have breakfast you don't give
13:30
that much thought but some decisions uh
13:33
take a longer time to to think about and
13:36
you might go yes or no yes or no
13:39
and it that's okay if it takes a long
13:41
time but when you make a decision he
13:44
flings his arms about with
13:46
excitement i love that i love that all
13:49
right we're rolling into the next book
13:53
perception pointer uh he's a he's a
13:56
lovely character now perception what's
13:57
perception about that's all about your
13:59
beliefs and opinions and i and you know
14:02
he tells the children that it's okay
14:05
your your opinion you might have a
14:07
different opinion from your friend or
14:09
family member but that's okay because
14:12
you're you think differently uh to
14:14
anyone else because you are unique it's
14:17
okay to have different opinions and
14:19
different beliefs
14:20
and how important is that in today's
14:23
time
14:24
yes it is yes indeed yes indeed and the
14:28
next book
14:29
the next book is about habits and
14:33
it's all about developing good habits
14:36
now you have you develop habits from the
14:38
moment you're born and you
14:41
but
14:42
genius likes to help you to develop good
14:44
habits say for example that
14:46
you want to achieve something at school
14:48
you want to do better in your next exam
14:50
and he helps you then to what do i need
14:53
to do in order to get a better result in
14:56
that example you need to develop a habit
14:58
of
14:59
studying
15:00
you know so that's that's he talks about
15:02
these these good habits
15:04
i probably should have asked this in the
15:06
first place what age frame are these
15:08
books for
15:09
these are from you know when you birth
15:12
right up to about seven seven years of
15:14
age grade one or grade two and that is
15:16
where uh
15:17
these our children are evolving right
15:19
and that's that's so important at that
15:21
time i think that leads us to the last
15:23
book am i not am i mistaken or do we
15:25
have two more
15:26
no the last book is all about genius has
15:30
an attitude of gratitude so it's it's
15:33
helping the children to be thankful for
15:36
everything that they have uh and also to
15:39
you can be thankful for something that's
15:40
going to happen in the future like a
15:42
goal that you want to achieve but it's
15:44
all about being grateful being grateful
15:46
thank you for the beautiful birds that
15:48
are singing thank you for the lovely day
15:50
thank you to your parents thank you to
15:52
your best friends so yes all about being
15:55
grateful so how would you
15:58
say the genius books are empowering
16:00
children to understand their thoughts
16:01
and experience joy and enthusiasm to
16:03
create a happy life
16:06
well when when children
16:09
learn to
16:10
relate to genius and his friends and
16:13
understand that genius and his friends
16:15
help them uh to understand the way the
16:18
mind works so we can for example
16:22
uh it's all about critical thinking okay
16:25
so if if for example we see a child er
16:29
playing in a sandpit when we're younger
16:30
we use our critical thinking but we
16:32
don't understand that it's critical
16:33
thinking so a child is in in a sandpit
16:36
and it's playing around and now it
16:38
thinks oh well what i want to sort of
16:40
build a building how do i do that so
16:43
he's thinking and using all these
16:46
uh friends genius and his friends to
16:48
work out how to build a building in this
16:50
sandpit now he thinks about it oh yes i
16:53
need to have water to make the sand a
16:55
bit wet in order for it to stick
16:57
together so it's all it's all teaching
16:59
the children about the critical thinking
17:02
now when you use all of genius's friends
17:05
and he's built the sandpit and the the
17:08
building he's feeling good about himself
17:10
so it's teaching the children to
17:11
understand okay so oh yeah i feel good i
17:15
managed to do that so the confidence is
17:17
in increased he has positive attitude
17:20
and that's what um we want the children
17:23
to develop to to have better
17:25
self-development and self-belief that
17:28
they can achieve
17:30
anything that they want to achieve
17:32
just use genius and his friends to help
17:34
you oh i love that message i love that
17:37
message i think it's so important for
17:38
our children to be instilled with that
17:41
that anything that we dream we can do we
17:43
just we just have to take those steps to
17:46
get there now before we came on the show
17:48
today you were telling me about some
17:50
very exciting things that have happened
17:51
since the book has come out so why don't
17:53
you share that with us right now
17:56
oh yes we've had a very very exciting
17:59
week i genius and myself had the
18:02
pleasure of being featured in new york
18:04
weekly magazine which is absolutely
18:07
phenomenal and then
18:10
genius and i were up on a billboard in
18:13
times square above the disney store so
18:15
it was just
18:16
oh when i saw the video i thought i had
18:19
tears i thought yeah oh this is
18:21
wonderful trying to you know getting
18:22
this message out there that children are
18:25
fabulous and they're wonderful and
18:26
they're special and they meant to be
18:28
here
18:30
i can only imagine what it would have
18:32
felt like being you seeing this video
18:36
and seeing yourself up in times square
18:38
like that that is very very exciting for
18:40
you it's an accomplishment obviously and
18:43
um to know that your message is going to
18:45
get out to so many so many children um
18:49
that's a question for you why do you do
18:50
what you do
18:53
i do it because
18:55
i just want i want the children to
18:59
have confidence and self-belief
19:02
and
19:03
i don't want them falling into that that
19:06
space where they feel that they've they
19:09
got nowhere to turn and and they they
19:12
you know want to lead this world because
19:14
they don't see a future uh i want
19:17
children to understand that they all
19:19
have a magnificent future
19:21
and the way to do that is to understand
19:24
themselves and that they are unique and
19:27
they are special and they are meant to
19:30
be here
19:34
i'm unevening myself because i have dogs
19:36
that are barking in the background so i
19:38
apologize for that um you shared a tip
19:41
with me that i would like to share with
19:43
our audience and then i want to ask you
19:44
why this is so important you say that
19:46
each child is unique
19:48
and special and a gift and each one is
19:51
meant to be here and genius starts and
19:53
finishes each book with these two lines
19:55
i am unique as you can see there is no
19:58
one else in the world like me as you
19:59
said earlier
20:01
why is that so important what's the
20:02
significance of that
20:05
this is to
20:08
it's to help the children understand
20:12
that
20:13
you know i don't
20:16
i think
20:17
so much in this world we are part of an
20:20
education system
20:22
that wants us to be in one mold
20:25
well i want the children to understand
20:27
that
20:28
that they can think differently and that
20:31
is that is normal that it they're
20:33
completely normal to think differently
20:36
because they are unique
20:38
we have i don't know if you know that we
20:40
have about 55 thoughts a minute running
20:43
around
20:44
i did not know that i did not yes and
20:46
that adds up to a lot of thoughts during
20:48
the day and we have it all starts in the
20:51
mind and we have control over those
20:53
thoughts so we can switch the thinking
20:56
of the young children
20:58
thinking that they are special they are
21:00
unique they all have these unlocked
21:03
these talents and abilities locked up
21:05
inside them and what genius does and his
21:07
friends do they help them to unlock and
21:10
understand that they all have these
21:12
abilities and to say to themselves yes i
21:15
can achieve that i can and i will
21:18
achieve that so it's all about
21:21
starts off in the mind and the thoughts
21:23
and and this is why we really are
21:25
encouraging people to go check out the
21:27
book now your book and i thrown up the
21:29
picture earlier and i'm going to put it
21:30
back up it can be found on amazon all
21:32
the places the books are sold you can go
21:34
in and and look for it if it's not in
21:36
the store you can ask for it up at the
21:38
desk and i encourage people especially
21:40
parents who have children of this age or
21:43
grandchildren of this age go out and get
21:46
this this is so so so so important um
21:49
there are different ways that people can
21:50
follow you i know and they can follow
21:52
you on facebook
21:54
at
21:54
w marchini they can follow you on
21:57
linkedin at
21:59
wendy marchini and look how it's spelled
22:01
make sure you got that they can also
22:03
follow you on instagram and it's at
22:06
inner underscore genius underscore
22:08
global you're also on pinterest you're
22:11
everywhere wendy and w
22:14
marchini and you're on youtube and when
22:16
you go to youtube just put in genius and
22:18
his friends and the channel will show up
22:22
any last minute thoughts or or comments
22:25
about
22:26
the the book series uh about why this is
22:29
so important for parents to really give
22:31
their kids a step up
22:34
definitely as you know we we learn by by
22:38
repetition and the younger the children
22:40
are the
22:42
the the more they take it in they don't
22:44
question they think oh yes yes and they
22:47
start to believe in what they're reading
22:50
and hearing over and over again so if
22:53
you install in a young child i am unique
22:56
i'm special i have talent and abilities
22:58
they're going to start to yes i believe
23:01
that and guess what their confidence and
23:03
enthusiasm just
23:05
grows
23:06
yeah it does and i'd
23:09
with with the books and the companion
23:11
videos that is an assisted learning for
23:14
them so i encourage everyone it's a free
23:17
app genius in his friend's app
23:19
you can download it on android and
23:21
iphone and that is an added educational
23:25
tool to the books
23:27
i'm going to put that up on the screen
23:30
so that people can see that
23:32
give me a second to do that here we go
23:34
so they can go down load genius and his
23:36
friends in the app store is what you're
23:37
saying
23:38
yes that's correct and then and that's a
23:40
companion to the books
23:42
yes and that has a game in there
23:45
introducing the characters and the
23:46
children can actually sit there and do
23:48
the game oh it's awesome how much i
23:50
think i'm going to have to go do that i
23:52
don't even have granted yet but i think
23:54
i'm going to go go check that out as
23:55
well
23:56

23:58
