0:07
thank you hi everybody welcome back to another
0:12
episode of Uncorked live we are really happy to be here this April 2023
0:18
cleaning everything house Spirit Soul you're thinking about it and we're
0:25
talking about it so stay tuned Uncorked live with Karen Glasser and Mel Greenberg making the most of life's Peak
0:32
stage and sharing it all with you
0:38
and we're back you know you'd said it was April and I literally I choked I don't even know how
0:44
it became April it feels like it was just New Year's Eve where did it go was it I yes it no it wasn't okay
0:51
you know today we have we have some exciting we have some exciting news and um we have a new partnership
0:57
it's very cool we're Uncorked so we've kind of moved into that realm a little
1:03
bit with this partnership and we're very excited to to bring it on board um it's a fabulous wine family and I
1:11
actually am going to turn this segment over to Karen because if you don't know she spent a good amount of years living
1:17
up in Napa making beautiful friendships and professional relationships while she was there and and she is far better
1:24
suited to discuss this at the level she's going to than I am but I do have a lot of questions I thought you were
1:29
going to call me a wino or something so someone you never not publicly so as we mentioned we have a new
1:36
partnership with Hall family wines and anyone that knows anything about Napa knows anything about wines knows who
1:43
Hall family wines are and it's not just one Winery they have three they have
1:48
three wineries today we're going to be talking about the Baca Winery but I want to talk to you just a little bit about
1:54
Catherine Hall she is the wife and the owner of the whole family wines and
2:01
she's got an amazing um story she started working with her family in Mendocino at their Vineyards and she
2:08
dreamed about having a place to Showcase her Fine Wines and so fast forward she and her husband
2:16
Craig created this unrivaled destination in Napa Valley if you drive down 29 Mel
2:22
you're going to see this humongous metal bunny I
2:27
so I've actually been to the the metal Bunny and when we this all came to
2:33
fruition I remember I was talking to you about it and I had a picture came to my mind my 50th birthday
2:40
um a bunch of us converged up there for a week and we have a great group shot in
2:45
front of the bunny and it's meant to be it was meant to be I mean and it is it's this humongous
2:51
it's so large you can't you can't miss it fabulous on the road on the road to Napa
2:57
um it's really cool and I love their tagline no excuses no shortcuts they
3:03
right can I just tell you that sticks with me on every level it applies to
3:08
everything in our lives I love it and it is how they do their business and they
3:14
do absolutely so we're going to be talking about um a wine from Becca and I'm gonna hold
3:20
it up right now beautiful lady it's beautiful and everything they do by the way Mel on all
3:26
other wineries uh it has different artwork and different designs and different brands they do such a great
3:32
job so can I just tell you I sometimes well I just buy the wines because I like
3:39
the label you like the picture and I'll get the you know people oh this is beautiful wine it's great white you know you enjoy it have you liked it I'm like
3:45
yeah oh no but it looks nice it looks nice but I want you to take a look at
3:50
this little contraption that I have at the top of the bottle it's not to help you not spill it Italian right but it
3:56
actually goes on you put it in the top of the bottle okay and it's called an
4:02
aerator okay and what exactly is that going to do for us well when you drink red wine
4:08
you want to make sure that it breathes I'm sure we've a lot of us have heard that word let the wine breathe right so
4:14
I use it to counter you let it breathe exactly the same purpose same purpose
4:20
because you that you it makes it um literally unwraps the taste it just
4:26
becomes Fuller and it you can taste it a lot of people will take a take a sip of
4:32
their wine and they'll go ugh it needs to breathe and then let it sit there for a while and they'll take another drink
4:37
and they'll go oh it's perfect now what you just said was so beautiful though I felt the wine when you said it blooms
4:44
yeah like it's just because it is a beautiful experience I mean and I feel
4:50
that with coffee it's the Aromas and it's actually the experience of feeling it all yeah absolutely so I'm gonna wrap
4:58
and you might have seen this in restaurants where the sunlier comes to the table and puts a napkin a round or a
5:06
cloth around it you know why they do that now to well I know why I would do it's not
5:12
on spilling it but and that you know what that's exactly why they do it it stops the drips because there's nothing
5:18
worse than especially when you're drinking red wine to have drips and I'm trying to put this right in the center here so I'm going to go ahead and pour
5:25
and you're going to notice how slow it comes out
5:34
and the reason why it's coming out slow Mill is that it literally is going through see it's dripping it's literally
5:40
going through these little holes that are in here I think you can probably see the holes yes got it so that's that's
5:48
what happens so it actually it kind of speeds up the process perhaps yes it absolutely so that's the benefit of the
5:54
air writer right right um so let's talk a little bit about the vineyard where these grapes are actually
6:01
grown even though this is a vodka wine they literally have their grapes growing
6:06
in Paso Robles and you and I when we take our trip up to Napa we're going to
6:11
actually be driving through Paso Robles we are um and this is called the doozy
6:16
Vineyard doozy Vineyard um so their families have been planting
6:22
since 1945. think about that for a second how long they've been doing this for 1945
6:27
two generations of the doozy family and they continue to grow
6:32
and one of the interesting things about uh the wine that's grown here at the doozy Vineyard is that it is and I'm
6:39
going to say this because when I had to look this up dry farmed and head-trained Vines what the heck
6:47
does that mean well I did look it up so drug farming is simply means that they're growing The Grapes without
6:53
having to put extra water in so they don't have to add water whatever you know this is fabulous for the
6:59
environment totally for the and thinking what's going on here especially in California with the droughts and all of
7:05
that that's so that's one thing they're very conscientious and thoughtful about
7:11
how they are doing their yes and and then head trained which is such an
7:16
interesting word it literally wraps the uh at the head of the trunk that's
7:21
that's where it comes from the Spurs and all of those Tweety things that go
7:27
around I don't think that's the technical term Tweety things all the vines that go around and it only
7:32
is about a foot off the ground really yeah so do you know the benefit
7:37
of having that so low I do not actually I do not know the benefit of that but
7:42
anyone out there does let us know let us know um in 2021 and that is actually the
7:50
Vintage of this wine that we are drinking right now which we hasn't
7:55
breathed long enough it it has it is we wait before yeah we're gonna wait for one more minute because that's what I
8:01
actually talk about um the the notes of this and what that means is is that in 2021 there was a
8:09
very low yield of grapes and what does that what does it yield explain that meaning how many grapes actually grew
8:16
and they were able to use to create the wine so they may have a full Vineyard but not
8:21
be able to use them yes yes and because less it was much more
8:28
concentrated and so you get an even more Fuller taste for me is really great
8:33
because you know you and I have talked this is a Zinfandel which I love you loved and me you know would have never
8:40
not so much however I have had the opportunity of tasting this before and I can't wait to taste it again this is a
8:47
really good I'm excited so let me know when I can because I've got this glass and it's killing me almost okay so
8:55
um we've got first of all let's you want to hold your glass up as well there the flavors in here are going to be black
9:00
cherry and black currant preserves so I want us to think about that as we go to taste
9:06
and see if are we actually tasting that okay um and it's balanced with the right amount of acidity with that wave of
9:14
freshness and you're going to notice when you go to taste this it's almost going to be like a burst of flavor in
9:19
your mouth at the end so we're going to actually we're not so we're already
9:25
trying we're doing things you know that there's actually a right way to taste your wine we we call them that's not
9:32
just down but it's called the five s's so are you ready for the five s's I am what's the
9:39
first one s number one is to look at it so as we look at the glass you you might
9:45
notice that there are what look almost like little legs little droplets that are coming down the sides
9:51
of the glass okay and and what color would you say this is this is like a
9:57
burgundy or maybe more of more Garnet not quite as deep as a burgundy but yeah and I
10:04
think that goes to being a Zinfandel rather than a Cabernet which is obviously my favorite
10:09
um and number two and we already started to do this we swirl and I'm going to put all of these things
10:15
up on the screen so the first thing that we did is we looked at it and kind of
10:20
said well what does this look like and there's little legs and the colors the second thing that we did is we swirled it and the reason why this is true and
10:28
why are we swirling it well you you want to let me put the number two up through the legs is that what you're looking for
10:34
no you swirl it because you want to let the notes the aromatic notes come out so
10:40
when you swirl it it's an additional way of actually aerating this huh to prepare for number three correct
10:48
prepare for number three now that's sniffing it and that means to
10:53
smell it you literally put your nose right into it okay I have to tell you everyone I can't
10:59
do this with a straight face because I picture Robin Williams did an amazing bit
11:05
mocking wine tasting and and you know there's an air of pretense or there can
11:10
be yes with an industry and all of it and and he's it's fabulous I'm not gonna
11:16
even try and remember it but look it up because this is what's going on yeah it
11:21
is very funny because he uses all these words that really don't go with wine flatulent and it's flaccid and things
11:29
but you want to smell it you put your nose in there and you can what do you smell it when you what are the scents
11:34
that you're actually smelling well it's a it's fruity but not it's like a
11:39
smoky fruit so maybe like a black currant that's like that black currant
11:45
almost like a preserves it's it's not it's a little heavier I love it
11:51
no don't taste yet we're getting to tasting that's number so that's step number four so now we're gonna sip it so
11:58
we had C swirl sniff and Sip and when you sip it you go ahead
12:05
let's take a little taste oh and we're gonna cheers oh we have to Cheers sorry cheers
12:14
oh wow oh Karen you can you can there's a little bit of
12:21
a bite but not much and then it just settles well you knew what was coming I did yeah I knew it was coming yeah and
12:28
if you know how much I love Zen do you feel that burst in your mouth I do it's like the girls every corner
12:36
it's really yummy I have to drink a little bit more
12:41
so good what I like it doesn't hit you head on either it is there's a sharpness
12:48
to it but but it's a subtle sharpness yeah and then it just expands and
12:53
softens it's good it is really good I can finish the show and what I really like about
12:59
number five is we're gonna savor it and we're gonna sit back and we're gonna reflect on what we just tasted which is
13:05
what we actually just did and you can't help yourself right because it's so it's so good
13:11
I think what I really like is that this
13:16
Vineyard this company has made they have all different price points right and I
13:22
love that and as I earlier said you know there can be um an heir to to wine and you this is
13:31
accessible every price point is available yeah and and that's wonderful
13:36
and it's all delicious so Mel we gotta let people know how they can get this
13:42
right I mean because we're sitting here and I'm they're probably saying okay this is so unfair you guys are seeing
13:47
their drinking we're having so much fun and the really cool thing is that they have given us this incredible promo for
13:55
y'all and on the website you'll see lots of deals and specials and one is that if
14:00
you're a new customer our Uncorked promo code which you have to use at checkout entitles you
14:07
to the 10 off regardless regardless you may already be familiar with these and I rather suspect many of you are
14:15
um you will get you will still get the 10 off so be sure to use that Uncorked promo code in the checkout and Annie
14:23
Annie so if all Hall winery and and as um Baca so you can go to either or or
14:30
all three if you want and they have a couple other things that they're running right now if you buy six bottles you're
14:36
going to get one dollar shipping so that's really great because normally and I just got a shipment we were laughing I
14:41
just got two shipments of wine and the cost to ship it is not cheap so one dollar That's Heavy it's it yeah and not
14:48
really pack it so beautifully oh yeah it's great um and then if you if you are a big as
14:54
Mel said didn't call me a wino but if you are a Wine Drinker and you like it if you spend uh 500 they will give you
15:02
five percent off of that as well so as I said we started this they are
15:07
new partners and that's one thing that's coming up in season three next year we
15:13
are coming back and some fabulous things on Deck
15:19
um but I have to just say the 500 I need so this episode is about clearing space
15:24
spring is about you know spring cleaning getting getting getting yourself clear yeah man I'm gonna have to go home and
15:31
clear a lot of space I don't know why I'm gonna buy that's hysterical too right it's just
15:37
hysterical I know but that's not the only one dude you're gonna be clear in space you're gonna be an empty nester
15:43
again okay really you're gonna go there
15:48
I am so my youngest son did move into his house last month and it's a very
15:54
exciting time for him but I have to tell you it's I took him um to Home Goods and well I'm just gonna say this he's
16:01
colorblind so I've always had to help him with certain things and we had so much fun
16:07
you know start buying and decorating and I when we went in I said this is going to be your new favorite store you just
16:13
had a ball and as a mom I mean to be able to do this at this time in his life is so much fun and it's given me the
16:20
chance to go home now and clear and truly that is I love it I mean it's a
16:25
little bit of a drug to me cleaning out cupboards and closets and getting rid of things it feels so good I'm not a pack
16:32
rat and I have to to do things like this when my husband is not around because he is I will get rid of things and he'll
16:39
never know but if I said I'm gonna get rid of it he will
16:45
yeah me too in fact the running joke here is I clean up and also if I make
16:51
the mistake of saying do you want this I don't want to say yes and it's a mistake so I don't ask anymore I just get rid of
17:00
all the stuff and he doesn't know because it's been sitting there for years so I'm all with you in that so I
17:06
have to say this cleaning dust because I keep it okay I have the worst allergies I don't know if y'all are feeling this
17:12
out there and I feel like something they're getting worse as I'm getting older I feel like the I should be
17:17
settling in but this season has been so awful and my nose will just not stop itching it's crazy
17:23
oh they say that when your nose itches somebody's talking about you yeah I know
17:29
probably me I'm talking about you but well thank you I'm talking so we we just
17:36
talked about clearing space in our home right and I'm a minimalist as well so I
17:42
I less is more for me totally less than four and
17:47
do you find that you collect things or I don't my husband does
17:56
I collect wine does that count I collect things but I I don't like I just don't
18:03
like all around yeah and I find that I work better I I'm more productive and and those
18:10
channels are clear when when there's not when things clutter up it I feel it
18:15
clutter up inside me too yeah and I I have I have a
18:24
distracted and that becomes an issue so I think by necessity I keep things really really clean and clear do you
18:32
think I truly have felt this and and it is I I think it's our age I don't want a
18:39
lot of stuff around me I don't need a lot of things I want to clear out and
18:45
simplify and and going through this process one or two or three times a year is really beneficial and I find that it
18:52
means more to me now than it used to in a different way I think it is an age thing I think we get to a certain point
18:58
that we we don't need all that stuff we know what we need we get very clear
19:04
of what we need and it's not stuff it's people it's relationships I am really sentimental though and I have things
19:11
there are things things that mean so much to me that I will never part with and you know I just that that is what it
19:19
is but those things add up too and you kind of you find a way to make them fit
19:24
into your life um but I I want to talk about what that
19:29
heart because that leads you leads us to heart and clearing within our heart and
19:35
and Karen we have talked about this and you've been so open and vulnerable with your journey and Michael's health and
19:44
that has had to impact you and how you know what you've gone through and that
19:50
was actually a question that we got from our community and and again please keep sending them in we appreciate it so much
19:57
and it's fun to kind of get to know y'all and and you your questions and and one of the question was how do you take
20:04
care of everyone else in your life and in your circle without losing yourself
20:11
when you figure it out let me know I'm kidding okay it's a million dollar question it is it's a million dollar
20:16
question and it's not easy it's not easy but when it's a loved one that um you're taking care of not just
20:23
um a random person but it's really a loved one like this was my my husband
20:30
um and thank God just by the way he's in remission we are celebrating he is he's he's getting healthier by the day but to
20:38
answer the question you know it's um it weighs heavy on your heart when
20:43
somebody is so ill and you you have all those what-ifs that are going on and all
20:48
of all of those things and now that he's well it's like it's lifted I I'm so
20:55
happy I am so so happy now and I feel like I have cleared all that stuff that
21:02
was just heavy heavy heavy like you can breathe again and are you you're
21:08
starting to go out again and you're doing it now maybe without such trepidation you are you letting yourself
21:13
enjoy yes and you don't have to worry about his immune I don't have to worry about it anymore I mean well you know
21:19
I'm gonna always worry about it of course you are but not not it's not like it was we are going out now together
21:25
every day we go out somewhere to get out and start enjoying life again
21:32
um you know when we moved here it the pandemic hit so we literally been housebound for three years and then he
21:38
and then he got sick and you know during that time he got sick so now we're out there and so my heart is not heavy
21:45
anymore it is completely clear it is awesome it's an awesome awesome feeling
21:51
I'm so that leads to our head oh Jesus I call it I call it the itty bitty shitty
21:57
committee up there that talks and talks and talks and talks and I cannot shut it up how about you I I do shut it up it it
22:05
doesn't listen she's still a mind of her own but I try but I I um I know I've shared this I had a
22:12
therapist once um who said just use put your hand up and and literally like a stop sign and you when that voice is
22:18
just Ad nauseam just say stop enough and and that still works for me but I find
22:24
now the easiest way for me to shut that voice is to focus on something that truly makes me happy whether it's my
22:32
dogs my family my garden something you know I walk um and that helps so it it's not always
22:39
easy to shut that little it isn't especially in the middle of the night and and I you know I get up I'm a very
22:46
early riser like a very early riser four o'clock is my late time sometimes it's
22:52
earlier than that and and that is because of the the talking in the head and the only thing that stops IT to be honest is that I get up and I walk out
23:00
of the bed and it stops do you find like because I know like I'll wake up in the middle of the night and you're in a dead
23:06
sleep and you wake up and you stare at it's like it's almost as if a light has gone on even though it hasn't there's
23:12
like oh and everything starts filtering in and you're not even filtering just bombarding you and you
23:19
can't go to sleep I will often flip over and I know you're not supposed to keep your phone by your bed but I do and I'll
23:25
put on inside timer a meditation and that will help me because I can't if
23:32
you can re-align or refocus that voice right and
23:37
and shift its direction it's very helpful right I mean because we are the
23:42
worst critics of ourselves I mean we are so hard on ourselves and it's all about
23:47
the mindset and so I know and I practice this even though I can be honest and say it still happens but I do practice it is
23:55
getting out of my own head and what you put out there is what's going to come back so if I can reframe that crazy
24:01
that's going on to something that's really positive in fact I will get that back well I find too that I am because
24:10
from one perspective I definitely am better at that and that has come with aging I just relax I don't care about a
24:17
lot of that used to I used to obsess about in younger years but the other side of that coin is that because I'm
24:24
older I think I can't do that I mean my God I'm 63. so when that voice starts then I get I get pretty nasty with her
24:32
does she have a name you keep saying her what's her name um you know what she doesn't have a name
24:39
a little is literally she must know itty bitty shitty they're friends they're friends
24:50
oh my God so to that end you know it's taking care of yourself
24:56
mentally how about your body physically yep are you seeing differences in how
25:02
you clear that or yeah I mean I walk a lot now um now that I'm not afraid to go outside and do it I I walk and that
25:09
always clears my my mind and exercise and we have an amazing sponsor oh and
25:14
you know that so even when I don't want to do it that's why I love Elaine so much because there's nothing you can't
25:20
you can't make excuses no excuses or shortcuts for her 20 minute workouts and
25:27
they are so fulfilling and and beneficial yeah I love it take a look now she's got a great new offer this

26:06
she's got a really cool freebie it's a 20 minute Power Yoga with light dumbbells so go ahead and uh check out
26:13
the link that we put into the show copy and go get your free freebie yeah
26:19
everybody likes Something Free come on oh my goodness well I'm getting in shape
26:26
for my summer travel so Mel um you know we we've been really fortunate we have people that send us in
26:33
and these questions and we try to answer them you know on the shows but this one in particular is is to you so here it is
26:40
I'm planning a summer trip and I always take too much who relates oh my God lord
26:45
well I want to know you travel so much and you just mentioned it
26:51
um can you share some of your secrets oh my gosh yes I would love to and it um
26:57
it's funny because I just I'm getting ready to go on another trip and my husband and I were talking on the phone
27:03
this morning and I uh he's traveling and I said you know I had packed and he just like doesn't punch you off because I'm
27:09
not leaving for a bit but but that's so one thing I do and everything I do for
27:14
me is to make my life and my mind and head better and easy and so I would first of
27:21
all encourage you to you know honor who you are and do what makes you happy he
27:27
packs three o'clock the day before we leave or three o'clock in the morning the day we're leaving which would it
27:34
does give me anxiety that would give me that's not good for me yeah right but if it might be then that's what you should
27:40
do I pull my clothes I start maybe two weeks before you know Gathering and
27:46
putting together outfits and then I just let them hang and I kind of live with them and in my closet and then I do it
27:52
again and then the day I'm packing uh which is not the day I'm leaving by the way I I do it again so by the time I've
28:00
done I've probably gotten rid of another third of what I started with and I really feel that I have done well and my
28:07
greatest joy in that aspect is that when I come home I I everything I packed I wore that just makes nothing much I love
28:14
that nothing everything got attention it makes me so happy so I I that's one
28:20
another thing that I do that I love is to keep a toiletry bag fully packed and
28:25
stuff too yeah this is great yeah and I've done that for years and it's just
28:30
it's just easy you don't have to worry about it you can keep it pop it in any suitcase you're taking add to it as you
28:36
need depending on how long you're going to be gone when I come home from a trip I immediately refill everything and then
28:41
just put it away don't even think about it so the less I have you talked about being add I am a bit I think to some
28:48
extent everyone is but I don't have to think about it enough no it's already oh that's done I can just grab and and go
28:55
and to make things easier when I'm traveling anything that I can multi-purpose
29:02
I love yeah and you know my favorite one Tommy Bahama bathing suits they're reversible they have so many styles
29:09
they're beautifully beautifully made the Fabrics I have some I've had for 20 years yeah they last for I use them so
29:14
they're getting a lot of views and they're reversible I remember is that it's so easy and that great price point
29:20
there it's just a it's something to look into for sure especially with Summer travel absolutely more than one or two
29:27
or three bathing suits and you get you can have four taking two right absolutely so easy another thing that I
29:33
do is take a clutch and a dressy nice leather clutch and I fill all my
29:38
electronics in that so then it has served as a carrying case into in my
29:43
checked baggage but then also when I get where I'm going dump everything out and I've got a nice little clutch to take around I tend to
29:49
do the same thing I I have um this really beautiful leather um tote and
29:55
it's open on the front and it has this little magnet thing that goes to keep it shut and I use it as a carry-on actually
30:01
but if I'm going somewhere that in even though it it's leather but even though
30:06
if I I still use it in the sun and in near the water I will take it with me to
30:11
the pool that's wonderful cows and my all that stuff in there so I multi-purpose that as well well my one
30:18
Indulgence in that in that regard is I have a giant long shot folding you know
30:24
cam or not canvas you know the material is I always pack that because when I
30:29
travel for things that I gather along the way I can either use it as the carry-on or it ships very easily it
30:37
checks very easily rather so and then you know the last thing I think is is the clothing the wardrobe choices
30:43
themselves and that's to keep it as simple as possible I use one Foundation color typically black or version thereof
30:51
depending on season and then I'll add a pop of color just that I can throw
30:56
into whether it's a scarf or a you know something I I in
31:03
um I like the Veronica bear Blazers the Dickie Blazers right so I use the different color Dickies and that's a way
31:08
to spruce up an outfit really changes the look right yeah totally a different look yeah so I just you know I would
31:15
urge you just to do everything you can to simplify and scale back and that kind of goes back to if
31:21
just making your life as easy as possible you don't want to spend your entire vacation you know trying to
31:27
figure this all out and what should I wear and there's so many clothes it's I I agree with you 100 it's so much easier
31:34
to to be small rather than large and have everything go together so that no
31:40
matter what you pull it's going to go yeah and it is the one area that I'm
31:46
more organized in than other areas of my life and I'm a little anal about it but it makes me really happy and then I go
31:51
on my trip and I let everything go and it's easy so yeah I hope I answered your question and you can certainly reach out to me
31:59
yeah and guys um we're gonna put a link in the show notes Mel put together this
32:05
um short little ebook that has all of these tips so click the link and that
32:10
way you don't even have to remember it'll be all written down go take a look so I just want to throw in a little bit
32:17
off this wine you know we're well into this show now and it is just it is a
32:23
beautiful flower yeah it's just gorgeous I love it cheers
32:31
I I think to sit back and enjoy this is a
32:37
beautiful thing that we have this opportunity and Karen there's so many different opportunities that you get in
32:44
your life and your line of work in one you just interviewed an amazing young
32:49
man and you're gonna share that with us he is his name is Hal Elrod
32:58
it's called The Miracle morning the six habits that will transform your life before 8 A.M and what makes me laugh
33:04
about this is he does this whole thing you really need to get up by five and I'm like oh do I get to sleep till five
33:10
then I I am I have been doing this for years
33:15
and years and years because it's simple there are six steps and I love it and so
33:20
I had the opportunity I was so fortunate to interview him on one of my shows and he is delightful this guy is so so funny
33:29
we laugh through almost the entire interview but his story is fascinating so take a listen I'm awesome the public
33:37
my my readers my fans everyone thinks that I'm wholesome when I'm interviewed they will always say hell you would
33:43
probably never do this but let me just ask you or this or that and I think what it is is they confuse being polite with
33:49
being wholesome what I mean is behind closed doors I love to use the f word I love you is the f word I use it all the
33:55
time right um but in public I'm just polite I don't talk to my my grandma that way and I have a lot of grandmas in my audience so
34:01
I'm very polite with them the question today is can you change the direction of
34:07
your life so first let's just kick this off by by asking you how I mean you've got it you've got an amazing story that
34:14
actually uh comes before the book you know the miracle morning how it all happens so briefly let's just talk a
34:20
little bit about your story how did this come about yeah I always say it's a result of three Rock bottoms and if to
34:27
Define what a rock bottom is so everybody can relate we've all had them in fact we've had many of them and more
34:32
of them are on the way not to depress anybody but a rock bottom is simply a moment in your life where you experience
34:39
adversity at a level you've never experienced before so when you're a kid your rock bottoms are very different
34:44
than when you're a teen and then when you're in your 20s and 30s we go through financial Rock bottoms relational Rock
34:50
bottoms you name it and my first big big big rock bottom came when I was 19 years
34:55
old I was driving home from a sales meeting at I had given a speech at and I was driving a white Ford Mustang and I
35:02
was it head on by a drunk driver at 70 miles per hour I spun off the drunk driver in the car behind me crashed into
35:07
my driver's side door at 70 miles per hour and and instantaneous to the left side of my body was crushed inside the
35:14
car I broke 11 bones um my femur broke in half I broke my pelvis and I was found dead at the scene
35:21
I died for six minutes in a coma for six days and was told I would never walk again and that set me on a path to go
35:28
maybe I meant to do more than just sell products maybe I meant to actually help people by overcoming my challenges and
35:35
sharing with them how to overcome theirs and then when the U.S economy crashed in 2008 my second Big Rock Bottom happened
35:42
and that's where I lost everything I lost my house I lost my income I went deep and dead I got depressed my my body
35:49
fat crippled and that's what led to me discovering the power of morning rituals and I decided I wanted to create the
35:57
ultimate morning ritual I want to create the best of the best so I could change my life fast as fast as possible and I
36:04
created this thing called The Miracle morning not it wasn't a book idea it wasn't a book title and within two
36:09
months I doubled my income I went from being in the worst Shape of My Life physically to running training for a 52
36:15
mile ultra marathon I wasn't a runner but I decided that would help me to to get out of my comfort zone and become a
36:22
better version of myself and you mentioned you know I never thought it would be a book but I I decided I had a
36:28
responsibility ability to share it with the world and now as you said there's half a million people do this every day and
36:34
um it's just you know that's why that's actually it's wild I'm sure Beyond Your Wildest imagination
36:40
wow I am on it to get this book what an incredible young man
36:52
very motivating and if he can do it I can do it kind of things take your phone out scan this you can go pick up a copy
36:59
let me give you some background on this though this guy is I mean really unbelievable he this book was written in
37:07

37:13
and it's practiced by want to guess how many countries
37:19
100 countries wow so I think it's a good book
37:24
