On this episode of The Super Boomer Lifestyle Show, Caren and Robynn Lin celebrate agelessness and discuss why being ageless is not allowing a number to define you. They cover the following topics:
Believing passionately in being ageless in every way. How you can do that too.
How agelessness starts in the mind. It has to work its way from the mind down to the heart so that it can become a part of your lifestyle.
Galumphing!! What it is!
Robynn Lin is a producer and actor and influencer. She was formerly a creative director and a wellness guru. Changing careers in her forties she is now an advocate for being ageless. She says that it takes focus off being older and to celebrate our agelessness.

0:37

0:39

0:40
button share it out get your network
0:42
over here because we have a very very
0:44
important show today today my very
0:48
special guest is Robin Linn and we're
0:50
gonna be talking about celebrating
0:52
agelessness she is a producer and actor
0:55
and an influencer we'll talk about what
0:57
that means
0:58
she's also formerly a creative director
1:01
and a wellness guru and she changed her
1:04
careers in the 40s and is now an
1:05
advocate for being ageless she says that
1:08
it takes focus off being older and to
1:10
celebrate our agelessness now Robin and
1:13
I met on Instagram believe it or not and
1:15
we became friends and I was following
1:17
her and she was following me and I you
1:19
know we do what we do we decided that we
1:21
should collaborate we should network and
1:23
so without further ado I'm going to
1:25
bring in my very special guest today
1:26
Robin Lynn
1:27
hey Robin how you doing hey Karen I'm
1:30
great thank you for having me on your
1:32
show this is fabulous I am so excited
1:35
you're on the show I know that we had to
1:37
actually reschedule the show because
1:39
Facebook went down two weeks ago this
1:42
this Wednesday two weeks ago right and
1:43
there was no way that we could get on so
1:45
we decided that we were going to do a a
1:47
redo and I'm so glad that you're here
1:49
today and you are sitting in one of the
1:51
most beautiful places that you are
1:53
outside I wish I was out there pretty
1:56
gorgeous absolutely gorgeous down here
1:59
so as you know this is the super boomer
2:02
lifestyle show and I like to ask
2:03
everyone you know my guess what a super
2:06
boomer means to them and I'm going to
2:07
ask my viewers as well to tell us what
2:10
you think the super boomer is but I
2:12
think a
2:13
boomer is fearless somebody that does
2:16
not show up and say that on a certain
2:18
age and I can't do that in fact they're
2:20
ageless that seems familiar doesn't it
2:23
yeah it seems familiar so Robin how
2:25
would you describe a super boomer oh my
2:28
gosh to meet a super boomer is somebody
2:30
who lets nothing stopped them so exactly
2:32
what you said they're fearless they
2:34
don't let age stop them they don't let
2:36
society stop them they don't let the old
2:38
rules stop them they are living their
2:41
life for themselves and for the people
2:44
around them for their their families so
2:46
they are out there they're doing things
2:48
they're just they're super boomers all
2:50
the way there are kind of people right
2:52
there super nothing gets in their way so
2:55
make sure that you tell us what your
2:57
what your thoughts are on being a super
2:59
boomer and before we like really jump in
3:02
you know one of the things that's really
3:04
funny about this is that when I told you
3:07
I was gonna do this show and I wanted
3:09
you to be on it and I said you know how
3:11
do we love getting older what do we love
3:13
about getting older and you literally
3:14
said to me well that's not really my
3:16
message my message is being ageless bein
3:21
ageless and I found that fascinating
3:22
because we do have the very same point
3:25
of view but we come at it from different
3:27
directions and so let's talk about
3:29
what's celebrating ageless and what
3:31
being ageless means what does that mean
3:34
being ageless you know to me being
3:37
ageless is not allowing a number to
3:39
define you I don't look at you know
3:41
every birthday that comes by I
3:42
celebrates how many years I've been
3:44
alive but I don't look at it and say I
3:46
am 53 years old or I next year I'm gonna
3:50
be you know 54 55 whatever I have six
3:54
years to go until you know I'm this age
3:55
it's every single day I'm living my life
3:58
the way I would any other day it doesn't
4:01
matter what age I am I live the same way
4:04
today that I lived thirty years ago so
4:07
to me I am ageless I love that I really
4:11
do love that because I'm one of those
4:13
girls that just say just watch me
4:14
don't tell me I can't do that just watch
4:17
me don't tell me don't tell me that gray
4:19
hair makes you look old if if I want to
4:23
have gray hair don't tell me I can't
4:25
don't take those
4:26
yes a certain way now you know you're an
4:28
actress an Instagram would be and I'm
4:30
gonna tell people how they can follow
4:31
you on Instagram you are you're always
4:33
there's beautiful shots of you all over
4:36
the place and different and you are just
4:38
you're gorgeous you're beautiful and
4:40
you're ageless so do you ever worry at
4:44
any point that you know you know maybe
4:46
maybe I'm got to stop doing this because
4:48
I can't imagine you ever stopping doing
4:50
that you you just you own it girlfriend
4:53
thank you very much I will never stop
4:56
doing this ever I will be 90 years old
4:58
and you will find me running around in a
5:00
sundress high heels and climbing on
5:03
swing sets and you know sliding down
5:06
slides that is that is Who I am oh my
5:09
god I love that now I was saying on
5:10
Instagram you can see Robyn doing all
5:12
this so go ahead and write this down
5:14
it's at Robin Linn dot ageless of course
5:17
and you can see Robin out there doing
5:19
all sorts of great stuff so she lives a
5:21
life that I think we all want to live
5:22
and I think that that's part of the
5:24
whole ageless thing right you don't you
5:26
just do I just do it you judge it
5:29
absolutely so what is galumphing I am
5:35
glad you asked that as one of my
5:36
favorite conversations in the entire
5:38
world okay first of all I learned about
5:40
galumphing from a book called free play
5:42
and I was reading it as one of my actors
5:45
resources and as I'm reading it he's
5:47
actually talking about life and I ran
5:50
across the word galumphing and I started
5:53
looking at first of all just the word
5:55
alone makes me laugh but to define
5:57
galumphing it is really the art of free
6:00
play
6:00
if you imagine a couple of puppies
6:02
running through a park and they're like
6:04
falling all over each other and jumping
6:07
up on things that is a form of
6:08
galumphing so when we apply it to
6:10
ourselves galumphing is doing an ornate
6:14
activity it's doing something completely
6:16
out of the ordinary it could be
6:18
something as simple as taking the scenic
6:20
route rather than you know the normal
6:22
exit that you take every single day it
6:25
could be you know you're walking into
6:26
the parking lot you decide to walk up on
6:28
the curb and balance herself because
6:30
well it's different it's playful it's
6:33
it's not planned it's basically an
6:35
unplanned activity I love that so
6:38
viewers you know if you're
6:39
or if you're on replay let us know if if
6:42
you glove if you actually galumphing
6:46
Columbus the Bourbon fun to say it's
6:50
even fun to say what do you do a little
6:52
bit out of the ordinary so you can say
6:54
I'm going thing I love that that is a
6:56
great word
6:57
absolutely well you know okay so I say I
7:00
said that what do we love about getting
7:01
older let me tell you what I love about
7:03
getting older okay
7:04
I love the fact that all of those things
7:07
that I learned as a youth as a young
7:09
person and then as adult and all of
7:11
those things that I have pulled forward
7:12
into this later were later years
7:15
whatever year that is I don't care I
7:18
call I'm 62 I take all of that and I
7:21
drag it up with me and I say wow if I
7:23
didn't have all of that back there I
7:25
wouldn't be able to love what I'm doing
7:28
right now love the age that I'm in right
7:29
now all of those skills all of those I
7:31
don't want to go back has anyone asked
7:34
you would you ever like to go back and
7:35
start all over in what you know go back
7:36
to your 20s I'm sure people have asked
7:39
me that my answer is no why thank you
7:42
why not I think I'm you know I'm with
7:45
you I I love the experience that I've
7:47
gained from all of those years and you
7:49
know one of the big questions people
7:51
always ask is why would you go back and
7:53
tell your younger self and that is to
7:55
listen to your intuition back then I had
7:57
that intuition but I didn't always
7:59
listen to it and it always got me into
8:02
trouble and you know now I know better I
8:05
have the wisdom I I've been out there
8:08
I've done things and I don't have to do
8:10
them again so now I can have that free
8:13
spiritedness that I had back then but
8:15
have the wisdom to go along with it so I
8:17
don't get myself in you know spirit
8:18
trouble again I love ya when you said I
8:21
don't have to do them again I would
8:22
thank God you know I'm sure we have
8:26
stories to tell stories what are you
8:29
talking about and so if we go to look on
8:32
the other side of the coin of what we
8:34
love about getting older is celebrating
8:35
this is celebrating and as we get older
8:38
I you know I don't think about
8:40
retirement at all
8:41
III at this point don't think I'm never
8:44
going to retire I've been asked a lot
8:46
well well when you stop doing this when
8:48
you're done doing this is that gonna
8:50
that gonna be you gonna retire you're
8:52
gonna relax you're gonna join your
8:53
husband you
8:54
go I don't know eat bonbons all day long
8:56
no I don't think so I think that I'm
8:58
just gonna do whatever's next and I
9:00
liked it called set of retirement it's
9:02
whatever's next next I like that so what
9:06
are you gonna do next you know I am
9:10
still trying to figure out what I'm
9:11
gonna be when I grow up
9:12
you know I laugh about that all the time
9:15
because it's I there's so many fun
9:18
things out there that I want to do and
9:20
you know one thing that I have learned
9:22
is I'm not limited I can do anything so
9:25
if I want to try out for something new
9:26
tomorrow
9:27
hot-diggity I'm gonna do it I'm gonna do
9:30
anything that I want to do so what's
9:32
next oh I don't know I want to travel
9:34
the world
9:35
um this summer we're gonna go to
9:36
Yellowstone so I'm gonna start traveling
9:38
and and climbing near the mountains and
9:42
the volcanoes volcanoes are big on my
9:44
list Karen I want to explore volcanoes
9:47
you're scaring me right now
9:51
let me read something uh Susan Jacob
9:53
says yes it's so important I love where
9:55
I'm at now the friendships experience
9:57
confidence is saying no and sticking to
9:59
my values is liberating amen yeah oh my
10:04
gosh and and so Joey Garrity of 1/13
10:08
branding she actually just put a quote
10:09
up from you I'm still trying to figure
10:11
out what I'm going to be what I grow so
10:15
if you talk about agelessness as being
10:17
like a jigsaw puzzle
10:18
yes what does that mean you know it's
10:21
agelessness it's a great place to start
10:24
in the mind but it's got to kind of work
10:26
its way from the mind down to the heart
10:27
and it becomes a part of your lifestyle
10:29
there are many aspects to being ageless
10:32
you know it's easy for us to say oh I'm
10:34
ageless I'm not gonna let a number to
10:35
find me
10:36
but if you're not taking the proper
10:38
steps to really be ageless if you're not
10:41
you know watching up your nutrition if
10:44
you're not being active you're going to
10:46
allow certain diseases to come in and
10:48
start controlling your life and you're
10:50
gonna start feeling that aging you know
10:52
so being ageless you have to take
10:55
responsibility for yourself and there
10:57
are so many different puzzle pieces to
11:00
that that I like to put together and
11:02
we'll be talking a lot about that on the
11:04
website I've got many people coming in
11:06
I'm just thrilled
11:08
about will be offering their advice but
11:11
you know some of those steps we have
11:13
fitness we have to remain active yoga
11:17
yoga oh it's this place yo-yo you do
11:21
yoga Anonymous I'm a novice I'm learning
11:26
yoga wait this is my yoga mat that sits
11:27
in the super boomer lifestyle comm store
11:30
that's you know and that's one of the
11:32
things I do so fitness
11:33
that's one fitness and just to touch on
11:36
the fitness you know if you look at the
11:37
Blue Zones one of the big things about
11:39
the Blue Zones that everybody has in
11:41
common is that they all have that active
11:43
lifestyles and it doesn't mean that the
11:45
people in Okinawa are going out there
11:47
and they're doing Tai Chi and yoga every
11:49
day it is they're out there working the
11:52
fields you know they're being active it
11:55
doesn't mean that you have to take an
11:56
hour of your time and go to the gym and
11:58
walk on a treadmill for 30 minutes it
12:00
means that you are active you know walk
12:04
to the grocery store park far away from
12:06
the door be active and that is a great
12:09
place to start
12:10
I love that so so does being active I
12:13
pace when I'm on the phone I paced back
12:15
and forth apart that works right it's
12:18
bigger you you know you have a tag line
12:21
that says you have to be strong to be
12:23
delicate I love that tell us a little
12:26
bit about where that comes from and and
12:28
what that means yeah a lot of that that
12:31
really came from from going through life
12:34
and making mistakes and those mistakes
12:37
making me a stronger person and before
12:40
you know when I was in my 20s early 30s
12:43
you know I I had no problem being that
12:46
soft sweets feminine girl that everybody
12:49
loved but I got trampled on you know I
12:52
got trampled on hard and that kind of
12:55
squashes your spirit so now it's like as
12:59
you go through those mistakes and you
13:01
allow yourself to become strong but you
13:04
don't love those walls to take over your
13:06
life you know very easy to put those
13:10
walls up I did it for a while we've got
13:13
to bring them down and by bringing them
13:14
down and allowing both sides of you to
13:16
come out you can be strong and you have
13:19
to be strong to truly allow your
13:21
stuff to be soft to be delicate and I
13:24
don't mean soft like a flower and you're
13:25
gonna wilt or fade away but being just
13:29
delicate enough to feel the emotions of
13:32
life to feel empathy for your neighbor
13:34
to know what's happening with your
13:36
husband or your children are your best
13:38
friends to be able to be that person for
13:41
them you have to have that strength so
13:44
Robin it appears my camera has gone off
13:46
so I'm gonna drop out for just a minute
13:48
and if you want to talk just a little
13:49
bit more because you're not gonna go
13:50
anywhere I'm gonna pull myself back up
13:51
because I'm not sure with my camera Gwen
13:53
I'll be back in a second and I'm back
13:58
there we go oh there you are
14:00
oh no I'm not there do you see me I see
14:03
you um I'm gonna ask our audience
14:05
because I am looking at a black screen
14:07
right now on my on my view over here can
14:11
you guys see me in the camera cause if
14:13
not it I'm just gonna put a Robin in oh
14:15
you see me alright so I'm just great
14:18
that's awesome
14:19
alright don't know what's going on
14:21
before the show started I said something
14:23
to you that I wasn't sure I wanted to
14:25
bring up but I am gonna bring it up and
14:27
you know a lot of times people look at
14:29
people like you and I and we're just so
14:31
we're joyful right we're just we have
14:33
this this thing about us that we say oh
14:36
or Dannette we're not we're ageless and
14:37
we're just gonna keep on going but we're
14:39
not dumb right we're not dumb we know
14:41
that as we get older whatever age it is
14:44
you could be getting older at 30 but
14:46
whatever age as you get older there are
14:49
things that happen and last night
14:51
something happened to me that actually
14:53
made me um really sit down because of
14:55
what happened but really rethink a
14:57
little bit about what I do when I sit
14:59
here in a camera and I tell people you
15:01
know go out there and be a super boomer
15:03
I passed out last night and fell down
15:06
and I hit my head really hard I mean
15:09
like golf-ball-sized bump up my head and
15:13
I was as I was laying there on the floor
15:15
after I woke up uh I actually had one of
15:19
those moments where I said maybe maybe
15:21
meaning I'm not aging as well as I
15:24
should maybe uh they're you know when
15:27
you get over these things happen at like
15:28
oh my gosh and then you shared something
15:31
with me
15:31
that was sort of along those simmer
15:33
loins and I'd like you to share those
15:34
beakers
15:35
it's the same kind of thing we're not
15:37
dumb out here guys
15:38
we know that there are that things
15:40
happen what happened well you know it
15:43
actually it happens my friend Melanie
15:46
and she's if you follow her on Instagram
15:48
it's at Mel's second act and her blog
15:51
she's gonna be talking extensively about
15:53
this I only have the the basics of the
15:56
information but it's so important you
15:58
know her husband is you know my age he's
16:01
in his 50s and he was experiencing some
16:05
great dizziness and they thought it was
16:07
an inner ear thing and after a little
16:10
while Karen I think I lost you this time
16:15
in case anybody else is still listening
16:18
they got him to the hospital and has
16:21
turned out he was having a stroke and
16:23
it's so scary because it wasn't any of
16:26
the normal symptoms sorry a spider just
16:29
went by so anyway but it was none of the
16:33
normal it's normal symptoms but they got
16:36
him to the hospital he is okay and I
16:39
really do hope you guys will go to her
16:41
blog you can find her on Instagram it's
16:43
at Mel's second act and her blog is
16:47
gonna say everything about it so I don't
16:50
know I think we may have lost Karen and
16:52
I don't know if I have you guys or not I
16:55
see nothing except for that I'm live
16:59
this is fun are you guys there is Karen
17:04
there okay well I'm just gonna keep on
17:07
chatting that's why I can do so you know
17:11
we were talking about the difference
17:13
puzzle pieces of being ageless and you
17:16
know some of the different things we
17:18
said fitness some of the other things
17:20
that that happened with that is you know
17:23
nutrition everybody's always trying to
17:25
figure out what is the best nutrition
17:27
plan that I can be on what can I do
17:29
should I be polio should I be vegan
17:31
should I be
17:32
what vegetarian Mediterranean you know
17:36
what is it and my background I do have a
17:39
background in holistic nutrition and the
17:42
one thing that I can't tell you is that
17:43
there is no one diet plan for every
17:45
single person on this planet it doesn't
17:47
exist
17:48
so what you can do is you can start
17:51
eating more plant foods you can start
17:54
watching the processed foods that you're
17:56
on maybe start eliminating them you know
17:59
we try in our household to have little
18:01
to no processed foods and if they are
18:03
processed they're made strictly with
18:05
whole food ingredients cut back on your
18:08
sugar cut back on alcohol yeah those are
18:11
all little things that you can do
18:12
increase your water consumption you do
18:14
those things and you're gonna start
18:16
noticing a major difference I promise
18:18
you you will and some of the other
18:20
things you can do is watch your stress
18:23
stress kills people and that is that's
18:27
comes from the experts we've got to
18:28
watch our stress go out for more walks
18:31
start meditating do yoga just sit back
18:34
and start breathing other things find
18:37
your purpose too many times out there
18:40
especially as we started aging we start
18:42
losing what our purpose is I have a lot
18:44
of friends who you know their their kids
18:47
move out and they feel like they have no
18:49
purpose left and that can create a
18:52
depression so find your purpose find
18:54
what brings you passion Karen I think
18:58
I'm back I think you are oh my goodness
19:01
this is like the first time this has
19:03
ever happened and you are a star rub and
19:05
I actually I thought the show had
19:06
crashed I left I saw and I'm watching
19:08
you on Facebook live okay I didn't know
19:10
if I was still out or not so I just kept
19:12
talking you're totally still on and I
19:15
now know who can fill in for me when I'm
19:17
not up to it anytime anytime you need me
19:19
oh my gosh you are on I cannot believe
19:22
that just happened
19:22
and you actually were doing a great job
19:24
okay so guys you can you I'm gonna put
19:27
some of these comments up here because
19:29
you were talking about them you said
19:31
there is no diet plan for every single
19:32
person on this planet absolutely a
19:35
purpose gets me up in the morning and
19:37
excited to be on the planet and Susan
19:41
had said she said yes we're here you
19:42
were there I was not clearly I was not
19:45
gonna black screen I have no idea are
19:48
you on a black screen - this is like
19:50
bizarre I think we're I think there's a
19:51
mercury must be in retrograde I don't
19:53
know what that means but I think
19:54
something weird is happening so before
19:57
we take before we take off I would like
19:59
to let Pete
20:00
how they can get in touch with you first
20:02
of all you would have talked about your
20:03
web sites they can first go to Robin
20:05
Linn and that is with a why and two ends
20:08
and your angles and then one end in the
20:10
last name so it's Robin Linn com and
20:13
what are they gonna find it Robin link
20:14
um you know Robin landcom it's really
20:17
everything that's going on with me from
20:19
production from acting and even a little
20:22
bit of agelessness it takes you it will
20:25
take you to the website for be ageless
20:27
and you can find out everything that I
20:28
have going on we have a film that we're
20:31
we're reaching out and trying to get
20:32
into film festivals right now so you can
20:34
keep up to date with that and what's
20:36
going on and where the release will be
20:37
and all of the juicy stuff with me I
20:40
love that and then you're be ageless dot
20:43
life sight that is what you were talking
20:46
about a little bit earlier with you can
20:47
have experts and people that will be on
20:49
how exciting is that that side is just
20:52
building I have you know the about me
20:55
page up and contact page and we have
20:59
we're gonna have a certain person every
21:01
single month that we feature who is out
21:03
there being ageless and living that life
21:07
and will we're calling them our
21:08
inspiration we'll have a new person
21:10
featured every month that we'll have a
21:11
little interview with and then we'll
21:14
have like an articles so I didn't want
21:16
to do a normal blog like everybody else
21:18
does right so I wanted to actually have
21:20
articles up where people are giving
21:23
actual advice not opinions but actual
21:25
advice so what happens we'll have
21:28
nutritionists we'll have doctors on
21:30
makeup artists all kinds of people and
21:33
joy says very exciting what you're doing
21:35
Robin we will be helping to share the
21:37
love once you ask you are right here we
21:39
will definitely share it now we also
21:41
know that you are very active on
21:43
Facebook it's facebook.com forward slash
21:45
Robin Linn again two M's
21:47
and we had put up Instagram before go
21:50
make sure you follow her she's got great
21:52
you got great shots you really did great
21:54
pictures from all over the place and
21:56
again on Twitter
21:57
go follow Robin on Twitter I know that
21:59
she will respond back to you she's a
22:01
social media maven she knows how this
22:03
works and we you know we really do we do
22:05
want to communicate with you this is
22:07
this is this is part of what we do and
22:09
who we are absolutely any last minute
22:12
thought you'd like to share with
22:14
our audience before we say to buy you
22:16
know it's the only thing I can really
22:19
get across to people is to pick up one
22:22
of those puzzle pieces and try one get
22:25
out there and do something different at
22:28
least once a month if not once a week
22:30
just do something different you've got
22:33
to start someplace and what you do today
22:35
will affect how you are twenty years
22:37
from now I love that thank you thank you
22:40
thank you I really appreciate that you
22:42
took the time to be on the show today
22:43
you don't have really good internet
22:45
connection where you live you took you
22:47
literally took yourself out and came to
22:50
a place that you had the connection
22:51
thank you so much for doing that I'm I'm
22:54
delighted that we could share you with
22:56
my audience my network thank you and
22:59
have a great day the rest of the day
23:01
thank you you too thank you guys I'm
23:03
gonna drop you down to the green room
23:04
okay all right guys so it's time for the
23:11
super boomer moment and this is the time
23:14
where we talk about something that
23:15
struck me in the middle of the show as
23:17
we were discussing things besides the
23:19
fact that we're all vulnerable look
23:22
Robin ended up doing part of the show by
23:24
herself because I got kicked out and
23:26
that is also part of celebrating our
23:29
agelessness and and celebrating the fact
23:31
that we can do anything we want and I
23:33
think that for me the most the most
23:37
important thing that that I have learned
23:39
is that we are super boomers we're
23:42
celebrating super boomers and at the end
23:45
of the day we embrace who we are we are
23:47
fearless we are powerful and that's
23:51
because we are super boomers so I want
23:55
to thank you all for joining us today we
23:57
know that you have lots of places to be
23:59
and you chose it to spend it with us
24:01
today I am so happy that you did this go
24:05
out and give somebody an awesome day and
24:06
I'll see you next time on the next
24:08
episode um it's a super boomer lifestyle
24:11
show goodbye everyone
