0:00
hello everyone Karen Glasser here and welcome to the super boomer lifestyle show brought to you by the super boomer
0:06
lifestyle dot-com it's your one-stop-shop for brands we know you will love today we welcome entrepreneur
0:14
and speaker extraordinaire KC Eberhardt to the show today's topic which I absolutely love
0:20
never done this topic before expectation versus reality flipping your live script
0:25
we have lots to talk about today but before we get into that let's talk about the super Boomer Pick of the Week so
0:34
today we are talking about well I'm gonna put this on so low we are talking about one of my favorite books only
0:41
because hey I'm one of the authors in it but that being said the reason why I pulled this book conversations with
0:48
experts and I pulled this book because KC Everhart our guest as well as myself
0:54
and eight other amazing amazing business owners out there in fact we look back at
1:00
this book and say oh my gosh I can't believe that these people actually were in this book this is a great book it's
1:06
all about doing what you love and getting paid for it so I encourage you to go over to the super boomer lifestyle
1:12
show and I'm going to put this up here and you can pick up your copy and if you see KC at any event coming up maybe in
1:20
the future maybe one even this weekend you can bring it in him and I'm sure he's gonna sign it for you right I'm
1:26
sure he will so I'm gonna do a little intro for KC before we get on it it
1:31
really is a little intro because KC no longer has his whole long thing that we say he basically says when you ask him
1:38
what do you do he says I'm an IND entrepreneur and I'm fascinated by that and I'm gonna bring him in right now
1:44
because one of the things that is great about KC is that we have been working
1:49
together for a very very long time and I'm really excited that he's joining us today so KC welcome to the show awesome
1:56
Karen it is it is an absolute honor and pleasure to be on the suburban or
2:01
lifestyle I've watched almost every episode I've been a huge fan of the show and it's just it's it's awesome to have
2:08
watched what you've been able to create this fantastic Becky says hi everyone hi Casey welcome
2:16
Becky is an amazing amazing woman out of Long Beach San Pedro California is up to
2:23
some big things as well so hey Becky I'm glad she joined us on the show you know the first question that I like to ask
2:29
all of my guests is how do you describe a super boomer now I describe a super
2:35
boomer by what it's not I like to say what a super boomer is not we are not defined by our age we are defined by how
2:42
we show up in life that's my personal definition of a super boomer so KC
2:47
Everhart how do you describe a super boomer you know Karen I you know I
2:52
thought about this a lot because I know you asked that and I really in my head when I hear the word super boomer I
2:59
think about living life large whatever that means to someone right for me I
3:06
like to live my life in on a journey where I create a series of mic dropping
3:13
moments and mic dropping boom so I just have this visual of a super boomer
3:19
somebody that goes through life on their own terms on their own journey I was like this like BAM you're right now look
3:27
you're seeing in your rearview mirror if I'm on to the next thing or I'm moving for it on the live stream you know we
3:32
don't have any I love that I love that so if you're watching live watching on
3:38
replay either way tell us how you describe a super boomer put it in the comments I'm always intrigued by what
3:44
people say and I promise you that Casey and I will come back and we will respond to your answers as well if you're just
3:52
tuning in guys we're talking to Casey ever heard and we're talking about flipping your live script very
3:58
specifically the expectation versus the reality so let's just jump right into
4:03
that what exactly I'm gonna talk about your title first so you say that you're
4:09
an entrepreneur I'm an entrepreneur too what does that mean to you though what's an entrepreneur so it's really funny
4:14
Kern so first off I just have to give a huge shout out to the conversation with expert book I mean when I when I saw you
4:22
when I saw that that was the Pick of the Week I've blown away because that was really for
4:27
me what am I very first what I would consider life dropping mic dropping
4:33
moments I was published in a book with some amazing amazing business owners and
4:39
so it was just a fun project I'm super excited I'm actually gonna go find my
4:44
copy and reread it because I just remember such a great set of experiences
4:49
around that that will experience so you know here's the thing I think so often in life we get told and
4:59
we get put into boxes and told you know um we were talking before before the
5:06
show and I was explaining this and so I kind of expand a little bit on it you know I work with a lot of business
5:12
people and on business people but a lot of business people and what I have found is that a lot of people have
5:17
expectations of how somebody in their fellowship or followship should behave
5:22
write your things like focus on one thing you know focus follow one course
5:27
until successful right or don't stray too far out of this get in your lane do
5:33
only one thing you know if you can do one thing for 10,000 hours you'll be an
5:38
expert in a perfectionist at it well you know what some of us live life a little
5:44
bit bigger than one thing for 10,000 hours for me personally I'd rather do 10
5:50
things at a thousand hours and be 10 percent access successful or 10 percent
5:56
fun or more fun having a broader range of the journey right I I totally
6:07
understand that you know and and I used to call people accidental entrepreneurs because it's what you called yourself
6:13
when you were out of work exactly like calling yourself a human exactly you
6:18
know qualification right and it's less embarrassing and it's less it feels less vulnerable right oh I don't work it's
6:26
better to say I'm an entrepreneur and I'm discovering what I'm gonna do next but that's not what you're talking about
6:32
here that is not what you're really describing as an entrepreneur you know you and I have known each other for a very long time we met
6:38
oh I think ten years ago maybe even longer than that and we started on a journey together where we traveled back
6:45
and forth across the country and literally back and forth across the country because I wasn't smart enough to do with two events in the same location
6:52
but we went back and forth and we've grown we have grown a lot we let's let's
6:58
keep this in perspective chairs being very nice she was my boss the promoter and a producer of an amazing lifestyle
7:05
tour called promote your passion and it was really designed to go around the country and give people the opportunity
7:12
to be exposed to people that have found a passion and a way to profit and put a
7:17
business together around it right so Karen you know you that that event that
7:22
that series I think we did like 40 of them it sounds a lot we did on the matter oh and yeah did we make some
7:29
mistakes along the way perhaps but it was all we created a mic dropping moment
7:34
at every city we went yes right I mean there are moments about those events
7:40
that to her that I can sit and and go wow there was a pivotal moment there
7:46
right one in Boston where you and I sat in the back of the room and looked at this this panel of people we you haven't
7:52
know we're just like wait I don't know what I don't know what leprechaun just went over some rainbow you get this
7:59
group of people I remember you actually saying to me do you know who you have in this room right
8:04
now I tell you who I said that about I know I can remember and I actually back
8:11
in those days I was and even in these days I'm fearless if I wanted somebody I would pick up the phone and just say
8:17
would you do it because if you don't ask you don't know right and it's because of that um I can even
8:24
remember being in Boston where we had a there was a guest coming that I was
8:30
blown away from and I literally told you I'm like you're no longer matters I'm an audition mode auditioned for for an
8:39
entrepreneur that was in the room and because of that because of that one audition if you know ten years later I I
8:48
can trace that back to a huge chunk of business the relationships I've had have been
8:53
giving me the opportunity to speak in front of literally tens of thousands of people because one moment so so when you
9:01
say I should have been smart enough to do it in two or three events I'm like I'm glad you were an idiot because at
9:09
the end of the day what you did and what you created was the ability for people
9:15
all around the country to have an engage in a mic dropping moment and so we I'm
9:22
proud of that and we and obviously we got you know as we as we petered out to the very end it wasn't even a petering
9:28
out we did they promote your passion crews and we had I don't know 55 60
9:33
people that were on this cruise business owners they came on to do this I want to
9:39
make sure I answer your question so when I think you're on to the newer Karen what that means for me is that I can
9:46
live a life of having it all and I cannot complain my spinnings also be people that want to live a life of
9:52
having it all you know I run a coaching program right now and our tagline is
9:57
from vision to profit having it all nice what that means to me as an entrepreneur
10:04
is it means excuse me if I want a one-day talk about cryptocurrency
10:09
awesome if I want to talk about real estate investing awesome if I want to engage in a network marketing
10:14
opportunity awesome but it's really about creating that journey at all
10:21
versus being put into one box you know doing the best free throw or the best
10:28
when we talk about the expectation versus the actual reality I'm sure that
10:35
our listeners I'm sure that you have you know thoughts that fall right into that I know I do we're gonna talk about a
10:42
couple of them but I think that as we go through life we have expectations we think that certain things are gonna
10:48
happen right there's an expectation and then the splash of water on the face when we realize okay it was an
10:54
expectation but that's not really the reality and I think as we get older at
10:59
different stages and it doesn't matter how it is at different ages when you turn 30 or 40
11:05
or 45 or 50 or I'm gonna be 63 next week as you get older you look at everything
11:11
and you go oh I expected it to be like this but here's the reality right I mean
11:16
I have a situation that very few people are aware of about six weeks ago I lost
11:21
vision in my right eye I still have no vision in my right eye and I had a
11:27
choice to make at that point because my expectation was that happens - you know I'm I thought the worst thing that was
11:33
gonna happen to me is getting older was that my hair was gonna be great right and here I had this thing I had to push
11:39
through it and I decided I wasn't gonna let it define me so how about you the expectation versus what the reality
11:46
actually is yeah so I'm you know it's very funny I look at my I look at my my
11:54
life really as only one movie right I
11:59
don't look at it as different chapters I don't look at it as their I really look at it as one one long-winded several
12:06
intermission several intermissions of a one movie and one thing I learned early
12:12
on in my life was and I'll paraphrase it
12:17
but it's it's kind of how I've tried to live which is that expectations are
12:23
resentments under construction and so and I actually picked that up from a
12:29
12-step program called al-anon like in the way way back machine I'm maybe a you
12:34
know I think there's a lot of lessons that can be learned from a spiritual and religious and gurus and all of that
12:40
stuff and and when you realize that expectations set yourself up for the
12:46
reality and that reality may not match up to your expectation that's where you
12:53
get yourself into Quagmire's and how we think I'm a failure this stuff's affecting this this isn't
13:01
how my life's turned supposed to turn out you know and so if I take that kind of thing of expectations under our
13:07
resentments under construction and then I also practice a a process that I actually trained into
13:16
our platinum inner circle members and that is how fast can you get off it right which means that when something
13:22
changes or that expectation versus reality are exactly the marketing
13:27
message match um how fast can you get off it and be able to pivot and go okay that wasn't what I
13:34
expected I lost vision in my eye well that's gonna make it hard for me too one two
13:39
three four or five okay great I can have a pity party go get yourself some cupcakes and go get yourself some
13:45
crepe paper and stream it around um you know how fast can you then go okay great
13:54
now here's the new set of cards I've been well you're the new reality so as
13:59
long as we can continuously work on trying to live in the reality versus the
14:05
expectation we should be okay we should be okay you know when I look back in when I look
14:11
back at when I first started in this game of business you know I became a pretty successful in several different
14:19
well you meant movies your Academy Award winner for God's sake guys I know
14:24
whether you're listening now and replay we're talking to KC Eberhardt who he started when the moving industry watch
14:30
Li didn't starting with you started in the amusement park industry and and you won an Academy Award for becoming John
14:37
Malkovich so you him yes but you got an
14:45
Academy Award for that and when you said movie that that actually I was I wanted
14:51
to say that earlier so here's the thing I mean did you have an expectation back in the day when you were doing movies
14:57
that this is what you were going to do moving forward or did you know back then that you were going to continually
15:03
reinvent yourself Sharon I can go back I can go back to five years old five years
15:11
old and and nothing nothing where I am today I had any expectation I didn't
15:20
have when I when I was working working at when I was taking raft rental
15:25
tickets and selling lockers at an amusement park I didn't have an expectation that I was going to end up
15:31
being in charge of the joint when I was in charge of the joint I didn't have an expectation of having to get bought by a
15:38
new set of owners I didn't have the expectation that when the park got sold
15:43
that I was gonna I mean at that point I kind of knew that I was gonna move to Los Angeles but I didn't know what I was
15:49
gonna do I rolled in here I didn't know I was gonna be working in the movie business I didn't know two years later I
15:54
would be asked and honored to come become part of a team that was going to make history on a lot of levels in the
16:01
real business I didn't understand um I didn't get caught up in thinking that
16:07
there was so many paths laid out in front of me I I wish that I had that
16:13
skill set maybe but I'm not a great trying to lay out 10 20 30 40 steps in
16:22
front of me without the caveat that if something else comes in the way of the
16:27
journey there may be the ability or challenge or breakdown or breakthrough
16:32
that allows me to move to a different reality right right and that's I think
16:38
the big key I think you know what I have when I talk to business owners and friends and you know people coming into
16:44
retirement I have a lot of friends that are are within five ten years of the quote retirement age they're like well
16:51
it just wasn't supposed to be like this I was supposed to be this or I was supposed to be this why isn't supposed
16:56
to be this I wasn't supposed to get divorced I wasn't supposed to lose my arm I wasn't supposed to get cancer I
17:03
wasn't supposed to doc doc I write great the end of the day that's all a big BS
17:09
story that you made up in your own head in the first place and with that to me what that does is it robs us of the
17:16
ability to live in the present right IIIi agree I agree so and here you are
17:24
now fast-forward and you are you're continuing to flip your life switch
17:31
you're an investor I am you are investor in real estate
17:36
I am I very full you know I don't know why you
17:43
keep saying that I kept thinking of a cornucopia right and I have this vision
17:49
of a cornucopia as Thanksgivings coming in and we're closed in that in that in
17:54
that in that part of the year but the cornucopia is like a feast it's like
17:59
filled with vegetables and fruits and foods and all these different things and it's made out on this big massive spread
18:05
in front of us and we get to choose what we're having for dinner right yeah and
18:10
and and does it mean that everything on the table we need to consume it doesn't even mean
18:16
that we need to try they I hate beets I don't know why beets were ever invented
18:22
they are the vegetable of the devil but I know that I have the ability to have
18:28
these I hate olives I think olives are wanted for real Casey
18:33
I can make a list of things that you don't like include not a ton shredded lettuce already here's the weird thing I
18:42
can see and say I hate shredded lettuce but at the end of the day watch me eat a salad a salad shows up and then I shred
18:48
it myself so I know where I'll figure it out go figure you out good luck um but when I what but you
18:56
know every once in a while if somebody puts enough olives in front of me I'm gonna at least try it to reinforce the
19:01
fact that I either like them like them right and I think with life that's part of the challenges I think sometimes we
19:08
are so quick to block things off and not take a look and not stay open to
19:14
opportunities and not take and I don't even mean the opportunities just in terms of you know here's the financial
19:19
opportunity a love or a dating opportunity you know I have friends of
19:25
mine that have very non-traditional sex lives and non-traditional families mm-hm
19:32
and and it's always interesting to me that they all feel like people are
19:37
putting them in a box and I think sometimes we as a society we're so trying to put people in our own layer of
19:44
boxes and it just doesn't serve anyone it's like look I think it's fantastic if
19:50
somebody wants to do something and it's between consent adults and it works for them and it
19:55
works for their lifestyle and it allows them to increase the happiness and the
20:01
write their own mic dropping journey then you know they're lucky right it's
20:07
their reality it's their life not anybody exactly and you know what that's where on the flip side of that I think
20:13
sometimes we have our own expectations and I think the faster we can remove
20:23
expectations doesn't mean you have to move remove hope you know although I hope I don't think Pope is a strategy
20:30
but um but I think sometimes we have so
20:36
let our lives be consumed by not only our expectations of other people our
20:42
expectations of ourselves yet right we can fill the expectations and other people our parents our friends our
20:47
family our measure green CEOs whatever have of us then it really just it gets
20:53
all muddy and all of a sudden you just find yourself going I mean an unhappy marriage or I'm in an unmarked business
21:00
I've been for ten years that I should have left a year into it right right right um I've made a real estate deal
21:06
that I shouldn't have been a part of her I should have never said yes it was they're sure of what is I think I think
21:12
one of the things that I have struggled with in the past personally is I love trying new things
21:20
and I love being an opportunist in terms of that all I'll jump on an opportunity so I'm a pretty easy mark when somebody
21:27
says I've got a new opportunity or I want you to look at an opportunity I'm I'm a pretty easy guy to to say yes and
21:35
the fact that you are a speaker on the world stage you don't just speak here in in the stage you just got back from
21:42
Australia and you're laughing because as soon as we turn the camera off my jetlag
21:47
is kicking in so bad but speak everywhere and I think that because you
21:53
have spoken everywhere around the world it gives you the ability to look at things maybe differently than those of
22:01
us who are who are kind of in our box Inlet I'm in California in my little box here in
22:06
I don't get out much I'm an entrepreneur too and I sit in front of my camera and my desk all day long so I think it gives
22:12
us a different perspective but you also do your own events yeah and I would be
22:19
remiss if I don't mention your networking riches which is you happen to have one that's coming up this this
22:25
weekend but even if it's not this weekend and you're watching the show you know six months from now Casey does
22:30
these all the time and even if it's not within where you live there is still a
22:37
way that you can get engaged in this right they if they go to networking Rich's calm you can actually purchase
22:43
for very little amount of money and a lifetime of experience you can watch it
22:49
live virtually right there on your screen you're gonna get recordings you're gonna do the whole thing and I've
22:55
been to your events I've been to them a couple of times so I know the value that you give so I encourage people you don't
23:01
even have to encourage them I'm gonna encourage people that you need to get your dose of Casey Everhart whether it's gonna be this weekend or next neck
23:09
networking riches or if you happen to know that it's gonna be on a stage somewhere else what can people expect to
23:14
get at the networking riches we'll look I think it's very sweet of you to say to get a dose of Casey Everhart let's not
23:21
scare people I think what it actually networking riches really does is it
23:27
gives people the ability to learn a system a way to be on purpose and
23:33
intentional in building the group of people around you that allow you to move
23:39
through your journey quicker faster and easier right so networking riches is is a is a tool that you'll learn over the
23:47
course of a day and a half on how to go into a networking event or a church
23:52
event a barbecue wherever and be able to be there with intention on purpose show
23:59
up presently and be able to figure out how to help other folks get what they want so
24:06
ultimately what you're doing is you're building out your own network of valuable resources and and by the way
24:13
that can mean a lot of things to a lot of people so right we have people that come through networking riches that are
24:19
you know own brick-and-mortar businesses you know we call them bricks and sticks we own we had people come through that
24:26
are part of network marketing we've had people that are coming through that are real estate investing stock trading
24:33
investing we've had spiritual gurus come through there is really a day-and-a-half
24:38
event of fun but it really teaches a purpose and a system and a formula in in
24:46
a world that seems somewhat chaotic and not a lot of people have kind of cracked the code right I hear that so all I
24:54
really am is the key to a lock that that will help someone unlock up a conveyor
25:00
belt you bring them what they need and Becky says I also recommend to attend networking riches I've been in the room
25:06
and you will not believe how much you learn thanks Becky I know that Casey appreciates that and I agree with you
25:11
it's true it's it's it's and and by the way it's not an event about Casey
25:17
Everhart at Paul I can't leave I just use myself 1/3 first that's not good another tool it's really about arming
25:26
people that were on this entrepreneurial or business journey a skill set that I
25:34
don't think is really taught very well by their folks like I just don't get why
25:39
we can't live a life of having it all and an abundance mentality and and
25:44
living a life of our own desire and our own making and and creating our reality
25:51
out of our own expectations and what I'm sorry just went up just to finish this
25:57
spot when I hear flip the script and I talk about flipping the script I mean I
26:03
can even think about it in terms of whether you're investing in a stock or a piece of real estate you buy something
26:09
that needs a little spit shine you shine it up a bit you you fix it up it becomes more valuable right a little bit of time
26:17
and a little bit of effort that's what it does there's really about flipping the script is whatever that is whether
26:22
it's a relationship whether that a project or you look at it it's it's totally how you how you look at it if
26:29
you're just tuning in right now we've been talking to Casey Everhart about flipping the life switch and how
26:34
expectations versus reality in how it shows up in life if you want to follow and I know you do if you want to follow
26:41
Casey on Instagram you can follow him at Casey got Everhart you can also follow him on Twitter at double your check
26:48
which is we didn't even get into that which is a whole nother conversation maybe at another time we can do that and
26:54
you can also go to Casey's ever Casey ever Hart's website at WWE and the
27:01
business comm you've got a lot of things going on any last-minute thoughts that
27:07
you would like to share yeah you know let's listen guys are like our life here
27:15
on this planet is very very short you know you're you you basically got three
27:22
three things you got you got the date you were born you got the date you were transitioned right and you have
27:29
everything that happens in between right and when our headstone everything that happens between the date we were born
27:34
the day we the date we transition is a little teeny teeny tiny - I mean
27:39
half-inch my inch if you're rich cuz you got a bigger headstone right our duty
27:46
our job our purpose for being here is to make that - as thick and as full as we
27:55
possibly can in the short amount of time we're here so instead of trying to
28:01
create a set of expectations that problem you're not going to be met right focus on your reality and moving the
28:09
needle forward in how you can create the reality of your dreams of your desires
28:15
